Newcastle Join Chase For Ligue 1 Star On Expiring Contract

Newcastle have reportedly entered the race for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar according to CalcioMercatoWeb. It’s not the first time the Frenchman has hit the radar. He was initially linked in May of 2020.

At the time, his price tag was over £40m but it has been sliced in half as he is in the final year of his contract. The latest report is that Lyon will listen to offers approaching £20m in January.

Aouar has some high-profile suitors with Juventus and Arsenal also keeping tabs on his situation. The 24-year-old could be a savvy acquisition this winter with his creative ability in the final third.

His versatility is also a strength as he can play deeper in the midfield, as a number 8, a number 10, or on the left. He has also taken the captain’s armband on a number of occasions for his hometown club.

Aouar rose through the Lyon Academy becoming one of the more recognizable faces over the past five years. He’s made 216 appearances with 40 goals and 35 assists but he appears keen to test himself elsewhere.

Newcastle, of course, brought in Bruno Guimaraes last January from Lyon. The fact Aouar is on the radar a year later is not surprising. He fits the profile and his fee would be a bargain for a player of his quality.

    Goal Linton,
Cresswell, good shout, I’m surprised he’s never discussed as Enand material, can play LB and LCB, better than Shaw anyway.

Presumably when satellites go beyond the planets they pierce the ceiling of the conical surface.

    Who mends the puncture?
    What’s on the other side?

Yeah Creswell had a few doubters at West Ham but he had a great season when they finished high one year.

I didn’t say it was a Taco I said it was Taco shaped. That is the problem with flat Earthers, they can’t get their facts straight.

    Quinn

Yes in Quinny we trust, Schar for hatrick against Fulham.

I remember when we signed Micky Quinn and there was a protest with a banner saying who the f is Micky Quinn and he seen it marching through town.

He scored a 3 or 4 on his debut and showed them who exactly Micky Quinn was.

Great goalscorer and an icon of that era.

NY, wings recipe, the most important thing is the wings (We were out the other day and we thought the wings came from an emaciated sparrow), then you do a rub – take your pick, I like Thai spiced, kinda sweet and hot, not a big fan of bbq rub (too sweet for me).
Fry them, then serve with a hot spicy sauce made with tabasco.
Job sorted, but again, the most important bit is the wings.

I like the look of this Houssem Aouar.

    Link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ta5qJ9YtDvA

Isak would benefit from his one two’s and passing quality, but I feel as Wilson is prone to injury and we need someone to take over as honestly I don’t know how long Wilson will play at this level.

    Now the question is who?

Moussa Dembélé? 26 years played for Celtic 94 times over 50 goals.

Ben Brereton Díaz The Blackburn kid.
Not convinced 100% on him but last year he knew where the net was in a lower league. 39 games 22 goals.

A simple salt and pepper chicken wing is a firm favourite of mine as is a honey and chilli marinade. One of the best wings I had though were actually confit duck wings, with a spicy orange sauce, small but delicious.

I am now contemplating pheasant or partridge wings just to test.

Joelinton up front if none of our first choices are fit ? Bit worried about what kind of team we could put out especially as Almiron and Fraser also played internationals

Elliot Anderson surely got to be in contention

    Micky,

Good comments….I’ve marinated them for 24hrs, done all sorts.
But the main thing is the sauce.

I’d like to hear TFB’s comments of course?

My go to sauce is still bDubz…..I haven’t found anything better.

    Mund,

Mudryk would be fantastic, stiff competition to get him though, I kinda feel that we need Europe before we can realistically get that level of player. Having said that we got Trips, Bruno, Botman and Isak so it is not impossible.

Ben Brereton Díaz worth a punt imo, probably £18M-£23M would do it and I think if we went in for him he would want to come.

NY Mag – make your own sauce, experiment, sooner or later you will find what is perfect for you, and practicing is great fun.

Charney – good point re big Joe but it creates a problem in midfield. I would love Anderson to play but not sure it is a good idea with Longstaff and Willock next to him.
