Newcastle Getting Close To Completing Deal For Exciting Young Forward

Newcastle are wrapping up a deal for Central Coast Mariners forward Garang Kuol, according to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie. The 18-year-old recently made his debut for Australia.

Newcastle’s pursuit of Kuol was first reported a few weeks ago. At the time, it was revealed Newcastle would pay his undisclosed release clause as well as some add-ons. His rise into the Australia squad should eventually help him gain a work permit.

The forward only made his debut with Central Coast Mariners in April after signing in January of 2021. His older brother, Alou, signed for them a year earlier and moved to Stuttgart a few months after his brother arrived.

As Downie states, Newcastle are scouring the globe for top talent. In the case of Kuol, he has very little first-team experience with just 8 cameos under his belt. Though he found the back of the net in four of them.

Newcastle have also done extensive scouting in South America. They’ve been linked with a number of Brazilian prodigies such as Palmeiras striker Endrick Felipe and Vasco da Gama midfielder Andrey Santos.

If Kuol is signed, he’ll be the first attacker brought into the academy since the takeover. Three defenders and a goalkeeper were added this summer. The move for Kuol and the recent links with Felipe and Santos could show the focus has shifted to the top end of the pitch.

Ummm…why would we pay his release clause as well as some add-ons?

Curtis Good was our second best Antipodean ever 😀

I’ve been busy recently so not up to date – can we sign him outside the window?

I have that little interest in the Nations Cup that I only realised England were playing last night when switching channels.

At 2-0 down I nearly switched over but then we got a goal and it became an exciting game to watch.

    Until Pope made that blunder.

It was one of those shots that bounces just in front of the keeper and makes the save more difficult and 19 our of 20 times Pope would save it no bother.

That the 1 in 20 was for England at Wembley and denied the team a great comeback victory over old arch enemy Germany, is a sickener for Pope.

That type of blunder can affect some keepers for a long while.

I hope Pope isn’t one of them.

Nijmegen – Craig Moore being our best? Have there really been no others? Those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head.

    On Pope again…

I was just thinking watching last night’s game how on Earth did we sign an England goalkeeper for just £10M when you see that Chelsea, Lpool and Arsenal among others have paid right up to £60M+.

That blunder doesn’t change my mind on Pope being a great buy though.

This lad could easily take over Viduka as being the best Antipdean to play in a black n white shirt, given time of course.

We could do a lot worse than poaching some of Dortmund’s targets. They buy young and develop into world class players.

    Worse models to follow 🙂

Sounds as though at least Anderson and Wilson will be in the squad for the weekend, hope Wilson stays fit for a least a month saying as Isak won`t be back until the back end of October, we are desperate for some firepower up front.
St Max could be on the bench Anarl, Howe might only use him if we need that extra punch to earn a point.

I think Wor Eddie will keep Pope up with the best. Any keeper can experience that kind of issue – I can’t see our lad having many, if any, more like that.

Oh yeah and Viduka, think I forget about him, he was alright the first season but awful in the relegation season.

    Bills son

I was gutted for Pope. He’s still the best keeper we’ve had at toon imo and that performance last night is in no way indicative of how he plays. Hope he dusts himself down and forgets it.

Unlike you I knew it was on and watched it but switched off at 2-0!!! Imagine my disappointment when checking the full time score!

Hahahaha – so Pope is now going to be “relegated” to third choice England keeper because of his gaffe.

Some folk post any old shite on here – but it’s the usual suspects so I’m not shocked by outrageous viewpoints/theories.

    Bill Son
Every keeper makes a mistake in his career
Been brilliant for us yes his kicking/distribution to players not the best but is working at it
But if you noticed half the time last night the England players stood like statues last night as if they didn’t want the ball past to them

Also on Physioroom perm injuries Mitro is rated 50-50 for Saturday

    Bills Son Is Back,
It doesn’t alter the fact that he is an absolute steal at that price and will continue to be one of the best keepers in the league. Unfortunately nerves got the better of him for some reason last night. I don’t think anyone can explain that. He’s hardly put a foot wrong for us and that’s what matters.

    Mister Tuff,
I didn’t see anyone say he’d be ‘relegated’ to third choice keeper, he showed last night that he can’t be relied upon on the big stage so if there was an injury to Pickford I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t Ramsdale that was given the nod. It wasn’t just that one mistake, he was nervy all night.

Garang is well regarded downunder and playing for my local club north of Sydney. He and his brother were actually overlooked by the Man City owned club in Melbourne and made the move to NSW to get A League experience.

I would strongly urge Newcastle to also look seriously at Tom Rogic who has just signed with West Bromich Albion, although I cant believe he decided to go there given their current form and who their manager is (perhaps not for the long term). He is the best player we have produced in the past 10 years and still has a lot to give. he is what we need in midfield – spend time on the ball and set up plays. He would thrive under Eddie.
