It was revealed this morning that Newcastle have reached an agreement in principle to sign Garang Kuol from Central Coast Mariners. The forward will arrive on Tyneside for a medical and to finalize personal terms later this week.
Some further details have since emerged on the potential deal. The Mail has revealed that Newcastle will pay just £300,000 for the 18-year-old, which is the amount of his release clause.
He will head out on loan once the move is official in January. As reported initially, there are a number of European clubs eager to bring him in for the remainder of the season.
The Northern Echo has indicated that personal terms will not be an issue. Once everything is sorted, Kuol will return to Australia to start the season with Central Coast Mariners. Their season kicks off next weekend against Newcastle Jets.
Barring any unforeseen issues, Kuol will be Newcastle’s first signing of the winter window. It’s a window Newcastle are expected to be active in despite spending north of £100m in the summer.
Newcastle have been heavily linked with Leicester’s James Maddison and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk. It should be another exciting window as the club continues to build toward a bright future.

Comment #81Just scanning the comments of that link Jane posted about the signing of Hendrick I noticed there were a few posters suggesting Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson would be good signings for nufc – whatever happened to them players? 😀

Comment #82Wow that is a lot to take in..
Magicmac –
I lived near Stuttgart for almost 6 years so my German is OK. Loved it! Went to many a Stuttgart game, technically I was amongst the first to spot that Philipp Lahm was a seriously good player. Most Stuttgart fans didn’t see it but I did, admittedly Bayern may have seen that too so I won’t add that string to my bow
😉

“Because it is him” “But I see you don’t want to be fair and balanced but I knew that already.”
That is kinda my point….under what circumstances would you ever agree with TDS?

I respect you as a poster and as a man immensely. But I must state that Hendricks warms Ireland’s bench and is an unused sub. When I played for Newcastle boys as a kid back in the day. I warmed the bench also and me late dad God bless him used to wind me up (Fenham banter from the man) used to say son, you got spelks in your arse again. Hendricks is lucky as the benches are not wooden nowadays.
The top and bottom of it Magic is he (Hendricks) was NOT a coup for NUFC at the tiime of signing but yet another disgraceful incompetent decision made by those incompetent buffoons running our great club at that time in those horrendous dark days. Let’s place all that negativity to the very back of our mind’s as the same stingy incompetency decision making shall never be done or witnessed again. Well not in our life times anyway. Hendricks was never a coup, but a square peg placed in a round hole that should have never happened. The man has not kicked in since and a reason why his contract was allowed to run down from mighty Burnley 😉

Evening mate,
In reference to Hendrick, when we signed him I remember at the time I said he was no world beater but he would do a job, anytime he played for Ireland he looked like a totally different player which is the reason I said in my post he was Bruced, he was a much better player than what we seen at Newcastle Fenham, I’m just trying to give some context in my post and not in anyway saying Hendrict was a star player Fenham

Comment #88in the 20/21 season Hendrick made 22 appearances for Newcastle and had one of the best points per game ratios. Newcastle won 9 of those 22 matches.

Comment #89Hendrick wasn’t a coup imo but he had the ability to help out and do a job. The fact that a two guys are ignoring the thoughts of Billson, whom they both respect, to have a go at TDS, says it all.
As Taco said, under what circumstance does Mund acknowledge any good points that TDS makes?
What a nasty little opportunist.

I mentioned in my post above I genuinely felt for the man when he was struggling, I genuinely don’t like to see that especially when the fans get on their back irrespective of the 10s of thousands they make in a week. But the discussion that kicked this off if you didn’t see it was Hendricks was a coup signing at the time? He was most definitely not and such statements/comments need to be called out as codswallop which I did.
I accept and support any players that are signed by our great club and will always give them a chance and get right behind them when they don the black and white jersey. Especially if they are warriors and play for the cause and try. But a coup signing IMO is a player that is brought in that is a game changer which we the tabloids never seen coming as it seemed out of reach. to say Hendricks was a coup signing is a strange comment and wrong and one of the most outrageous comments I’ve witnessed on here in a while to be quite brutally honest

Comment #92Is it just me or does this argument essentially come down to the use of the word “coup”?
Possibly not the best best choice of word.
When I read “coup” and “Ashley” in the same sentence I have different thoughts. But I am over that now. He is gone, he has been overthrown. Therefore I don’t spend a great deal of time considering medieval torture mechanisms, honestly I don’t.

Comment #96I won’t respond to the man above who says I’ve gone after ToonDarnSarf and ganged up. Barmy comment from a trouble mischief maker… he is a WUM and fishes, he has done this for years and is laughable, but you do get them sort in life that just live for trouble unfortunately. But hey ho. There has by know means been any ganging up whatsoever on ToonDarnSarf Just a debate, an honest interesting one. Thats what’s this blog is all about right, debating with differing opinions right? or am I missing something?
ToonDarnSarf
I have absolutely nothing against you at all, but just questioned your thinking with regards to Hendricks was a coup singing for NUFC when he aigned that is all it was mate, we’ve made so many underwhelming signings even lately, which he was…. Therefore absolutely no ganging up at all. I respect your opinion but I have the right to debate and say it was absolutely wrong regarding Hendricks being a Coup signing IMO.
Anyway, let’s not have any spats right now in here please as they’re becoming a thing of the past day by day as each day passes which is so healthy for the blog.

Comment #97Lads and Lassies you only have to look at how many of our players regressed under Bruce, and how many of those same players made a huge huge improvement under Eddie Howe, and i can assure you Jeff Hendrick was no different and as a consequence his form really plummeted under the shambolic Bruce, which is the reason Hendrick looked like a totally different player when playing for Ireland, the lad was on a loser playing under Bruce HWTL

Comment #107I think Hendrix was valued at around £15M before he went in to the last year of his deal, Lee Charnley would have definitely seen it as a coup getting him for free. He was a bang average signing, not brought in to fit a particular style the manager wanted to play or fill a much needed gap, he was signed because he was free and so typical of Ashley’s reign.

Comment #113I was actually quite relieved to see that Hendrick’s deal does run out in 2024, I had a horrible feeling it was in 2026. So Clarke and Ritchie at the end of this season, Jacob Murphy is with us until 2027, he is going to be heavily featured in Loan Lads for a long time yet.

Comment #115Hendrick was a typical Bruce signing as well as a typical Ashley signing
Known for playing in the league no transfer fee best days behind him Newcastle have done lots of business like that ìn the last decade or so
What did surprise me is how little he seemed to play his actual position which i thought was central midfield ? Bruce always had him on the wing or false 10

I probably will never forget that day when Bruce tried to say he played with two false ten’s against SHU, Fraser came out and said “well he never told us that” The truth is that he never had a clue what a false nine or ten was, had heard other managers say it and tried to sound clever. That is what we used to have.
