Pundit Praises Newcastle But Predicts More Of The Same At Fulham

BBC pundit Chris Sutton has given his predictions for this weekend’s fixtures. He has Newcastle picking up a point in a 1-1 draw at Fulham on Saturday.

Here is Sutton’s take on the match:

Newcastle aren’t on a particularly good run and have only won once this season, but I like the way they play and they have deserved more from a couple of games they have drawn so far.

But the Magpies might be short up front here, with Alexander Isak definitely out, Callum Wilson on his way back from injury and Chris Wood picking up a knock on international duty.

So, I am going for a draw here. Being honest, Fulham have surprised me with the way they have started this season so well and they have a bit of confidence in defence as well as their attack. They clearly believe in the way they play.

Fulham have had a terrific start to the season with 3 wins and 11 points. Those successes have them 6th in the league table as they hope to avoid another immediate drop back to the Championship.

They depend heavily on former-Magpie Aleksandar Mitrovic who is joint second in the Premier League with 6 goals. He is coming off of international duty with Serbia having scored 4 times.

However, he picked up a knock over the weekend and was seen with his foot bandaged after Tuesday’s 2-0 win at Norway. Mitrovic may not be 100% at Craven Cottage on Saturday though will likely play.

Newcastle’s early part of the campaign has been defined by injuries. Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Bruno Guimaraes have missed multiple matches due to hamstring injuries. Bruno returned from Brazil early with a thigh problem.

The midfielder is expected to play at Fulham. Callum Wilson is also in line for his return while Saint-Maximin has an outside chance of featuring. As Sutton states, Alexander Isak has been ruled out for a couple of weeks.

A draw would not be a terrible result under the circumstances. Newcastle have been unlucky with just one win at the start of the campaign. We may not find out how good this team is until all of the stars are fit and playing.

an average player with several years on his contract costs more than a world class player with a few months left.

“The home of Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards and Liverpool footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been burgled.

The couple were in the property when the break-in took place in Wilmslow, Cheshire at about 22:45 BST on Tuesday, Cheshire Constabulary said.

Jewellery and handbags were stolen and officers appealed for anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them.”

Potentially Fulham’s good start to the season is not only due to Mitrovic, but also Palhinha winning the ball back in midfield. His suspension for 5 yellow cards in 7 matches could provide us with a boost, as their source of supply for their goal scorer will need replacing.

Excellent read that Not another deJong,
“He’s got enough credit in the bank”
I call it goodwill which is pretty much the same thing, I just hope the fans that boo’d against Bournemouth show him the same goodwill as the owners if we look like finishing mid table. We’ve got a bloody good manager here who pulled us right out the shite, it would be a real shame if the murmurings of a minority of fans were to hound him out because their expectations weren’t met.

And as the dust swirled through this Midwestern town, the only sound that could be heard were the crickets, lazily chirping on a once well used porch, the occasional tumbleweed blowing past the biggest highlight of the day 😕

Some canny advice from the lads at Nufc.com
    “Fulham (a) avoid
    Putney Bridge

In addition to the rail chaos threatened by Saturday’s strike action, Transport for London confirm that District Line tubes will also be disrupted – affecting fans going to and from Craven Cottage.

A reduced service will run between Wimbledon and Parson’s Green until 6.30pm on Saturday – meaning that less tubes will serve Putney Bridge.

If you’re planning on going by tube from central London, it may be advisable to arrive and depart from Parsons Green.

Alternatively, Hammersmith and Barons Court are both within walking distance”

I’d have thought they would have kept him here for six months to indoctrinate him in to the club ethos before considering a loan move for him.

Like I’ve often said before on here “respect” is the key to a harmonious blog. We all have different points of view but we all want one thing…… a successful Newcastle United!
