Howe Makes One Change In Our Predicted Team For Fulham

Despite the uncertainty surrounding injuries after the international break, Eddie Howe will likely name a similar team to the one that drew 1-1 against Bournemouth two weeks ago.

This is the team I suspect Howe will field at Fulham tomorrow afternoon. It has just one change with Callum Wilson making his triumphant return and replacing the injured Alexander Isak.

Wilson’s return is timely with the recent injuries to Isak and Chris Wood. Both were injured on international duty with Isak ruled out and Wood facing a late fitness test. Wilson should start but may not last the full 90 minutes.

Bruno Guimaraes’s injury scare has not affected his availability. Howe confirmed during this morning’s press conference the midfielder would make the trip. That means he’ll most likely resume his place in the starting eleven.

Allan Saint-Maximin is pushing to make his return. Howe stated he was close this morning. Even if he makes the squad, he will probably only be used as an impact substitution. Hopefully, Ryan Fraser’s positive performances for Scotland continue tomorrow.

Elliot Anderson is close to forcing his way into Howe’s thinking. He missed the Bournemouth match with a slight injury but is available tomorrow. I suspect it’ll be another second-half cameo for the young Geordie.

There’s no indication Howe has changed his mind on Dan Burn over Sven Botman. The schedule is compact between tomorrow and the World Cup break with plenty of opportunities for Sven to get onto the pitch.

Smart business from the owners, if any of these kids make the grade it saves the club 100s Millions, this can then be generated into facilities and training, also adds staff members that are specialized in there field.
2-5 year plan was roughly what a lot of people alluded to and this falls into that demographic.
Now let’s get a win against Fulham, we need it, I’m sick of these draws. Howay the Toon.

happy birthday to your missus, hope she has a great day!

My missus was 80 this year and we had a big party in our garden with around 40 guests.

Mind you I did lay on three mini pins of beer from Georges of Wakering brewery so that was a big pull!

Our latest signing completely disproves the saying that.

I’ve been saying for years we need to blood the yunguns, at least it would have provided some incentive for them to prove themselves and give hope to some of the other kids.

Can you imagine if we had Rooney on the books under the last regime and marking time as was likely.

ZG – Bruce couldn’t really afford to give youth players a chance as our squad was so weak then. Liverpool can put a youth player on when 2-0 up and with world class players in the team so they’re still miles better than the opposition even if the youth player doesn’t play well. We could never do that with an Ashley team. Liverpool can also put out a B team in many cup games, with their stars on the bench to turn it around if necessary. But Liverpool getting knocked out of the League Cup early or losing the odd game in the CL group stages doesn’t matter too much…

Things are a little different for us now and will be very different in a few years!

Australia A-league just starting 7th Oct. They have those weird American style play-off too. They play their FA Cup during off season I think, Final is tomorrow. Maybe academy players don’t need follow EPL windows?

TDS, we played players like Hendrick who did absolutely nothing so we should have been the ideal team to play youths. Even if the youth was awful we’d have been no worse off.

Ty21 – regarding Kuol, I’m pretty sure he’s joining in January. We can sign a contract at any point of the season but he can’t officially join us apart from inside transfer windows. It’s rare that a first team player is signed in this way (apart from Bosman deals) but it happens fairly often with youth players from lesser leagues.

ZG – not really mate. Hendrick was an ok player for lower PL teams or upper CL teams. That would be a truly exceptional youth player to be ready at that level. Don’t forget where the likes of Anderson and Matty were on loan in previous seasons.

TDS we were carrying 5 or 6 players anyway. Surely we could have carried Barslser or similar just as easily as Hendricks, Ritchie or Clark who were well past contributing.

Hendrick was in my eyes easily the worst player who started more than ten games the season before we bought him. If you’re basing your judgement on the fact he started about 15-20 games for Burnley then it means you aren’t taking into account watching him. He was rotten. He had a half decent season earlier in his career, getting two goals against us which obviously explains why a lot of our fans thought he was a great attacking midfielder.

ZG – you’re misunderstanding the quality gap between the leagues. Players like Hendrick, Clark, and Gayle are still massive assets to Championship teams when fit.

Hendrick wasn’t better than playing 10 men. I can’t remember who we had at the time, but could they have been worse? It’s worth taking a risk on a youth rather than playing someone proven to be a waste of space.

I thought Ryan Fraser suffered an injury playing for Scotland (he came off holding his calf) but I can’t see any mention of it in Eddie’s press conference so maybe it was just cramp of similar – anybody know?

Should never have looked at Hendrick and should have sold the other two after winning the championship. I was a fan of Clark but as soon as we got promoted it was clear he wasn’t premier league quality.

ZG – ok…if you genuinely believe that we’d have been better playing with 10 men than playing Hendrick, then I really can’t help you. Hendrick is a professional footballer with nearly 150 PL appearances and 74 caps for Ireland and you’re degrading him to the level of a park player who can barely kick a ball straight.

Hendrick was definitely not what we need to finish regularly in the top half of the PL but he’s still a professional footballer who does a job and has earned millions from it. 10 appearances in the Championship this season too.

Were they worse than the players you mention, we never found that out but I agre with ZG we should at least given one or more of them the chance to prove themselves if only for short periods off the bench.

Sheer waste in my opinion of real potential.

EGB – we didn’t need to see ourselves to know that. The managers and coaches saw them in training and made a judgement. Have any of our youth players from back then proven themselves as worthy in those positions? They weren’t ready to play for us so they didn’t. Blame it on poor signings of young players, poor facilities, poor coaching, or whatever else but they simply were not good enough and not better than the likes of Hendrick, Clark, Gayle etc. The evidence is overwhelming to back that up.

    JohnJ,

“When you were down in Cornwall did you take in Helston pal”?

Yes we were along Heston Way a couple of weeks back it’s a nice place but you have to take great care when parking in the Main Street otherwise you could lose your car down “the gutter”

“I knocked about there for a few years working on the airbase Culdrose.” Seen lots of helicopters but most are based at Eastern Green.(private trips to St Mary’s on The Isles of Scilly)

I agree 100% about the housing situation in this area I have also felt sorry for the Cornish folk, and the situation they have with housing Houses sitting empty save for a few weeks per year.

Re below I don’t think anything has changed

“Locals couldn’t get on the ladder coupled with the fact Cornwall was the lowest paid per capita in UK. Not sure if it’s still the same”.

Not sure about the beer as I have the choice of driving or having a drink & because of my mobility issues I need a car to get to the pub so i drink J2o’s! But in any event when I’m out singing the beer clogs up my vocals so it’s an easy choice.

I used to love McEwan’s Best Scotch but it seems as rare as rocky horse poo nowadays!
