Newcastle have confirmed the agreement to sign Garang Kuol from Central Coast Mariners. Kuol will officially join when the winter window opens in January.
?? #NUFC have finalised an agreement which will see Garang Kuol join from @CCMariners in January 2023.
Welcome to Newcastle United, Garang! ??

Kuol has just broken into the Australian squad making his debut over the weekend. He made his debut for Central Coast Mariners last April and played in the club’s final 8 matches scoring 4 goals.
This is what the 18-year-old had to say about signing for Newcastle:
“It’s unreal. As a young boy in Australia, the Premier League is the main thing that everyone watches but nobody actually thinks they’ll reach those heights. To be one of those people, to be in the position I am, it’s amazing.
“Now that I’ve signed for Newcastle, I want to train hard, play hard, hopefully go to the World Cup and come back here.”
Newcastle moved quickly to sign the promising teenager, who had a £300k release clause. There was interest from some other top clubs but Dan Ashworth and company have won the race.
This is what our sporting director said about signing Kuol:
“Garang is a very promising young talent and we are excited that he’ll be continuing his development as a Newcastle United player.
“Our philosophy is to invest in our Academy and in exciting young players for the future, as well as in players required to make an immediate impact in the first team.
“We wish Garang the best of luck in his remaining games with Central Coast Mariners and we hope to see him on the international stage again very soon.”
Below is Garang’s interview after finalizing the move:

Comment #1Nice signing this, good prospect, hopefully that’ll get a decent loan move set up for Jan too.

Comment #3I’d like to see this vs Fulham, I think Saint-Maximin will make the bench.
Pope
Trippier, Schar, Botman, Targett
Willock, Bruno, Joelinton
Fraser, Wilson, Anderson
Will likely be
Pope
Trippier, Schar, Burn, Targett
Willock, Longstaff, Joelinton
Almiron, Wilson, Fraser
Targett is due a good performance, been off it this season, Lewis maybe pushing for a start.
Saying that Joelinton is due a big game but I think his game suffers when Bruno and Saint-Maximin are missing.
Would just be easier to say they are all due a good performance and we get a comfortable win. I am going for a 1-1 draw though, Wilson scoring

Can’t remember where, but I read the other day that Tripper and Targett are in the top 5 across Europe for stats. While I agree Targett isn’t spectacular, he’s very consistent and a great defender. I don’t think there’s a chance of Lewis usurping him anytime soon.
I agree though, Joelinton hasn’t been at the level we’ve seen many times last season.

When you were down in Cornwall did you take in Helston pal?
I knocked about there for a few years working on the airbase Culdrose. You’ll have seen the Merlin helicopters flying about no doubt.
Always felt sorry for the Cornish folk, house prices were overpriced as the elite working in London had 2nd homes there. Houses sitting empty save for a few weeks per year. Locals couldn’t get on the ladder coupled with the fact Cornwall was the lowest paid per capita in UK. Not sure if it’s still the same.
The Carling was expensive as well I recall !!!
Lovely place Cornwall, I imagine you had a belter pal.

Comment #7Sounds like late decisions will be made on Bruno, Saint-Maximin and Wood. Isak sounds like he may not miss many games.
Wilson from what Howe has said, will start.
Think I saw the other day that Shelvey was ahead of schedule, be good to have him back, allows us to push Bruno forward. Then Willock can be useful off the bench.

Comment #9I’m not sure how it works with this signing. Could we effectively sign Maddison for January, wouldn’t go down too well in Leicester him pictured in a toon top and a pen in his hand 🙂

Comment #10I wonder, if he plays in the world cup, if that will be enough to get him a visa.

Comment #11Apparently one of the club’s after him was Dortmund!
Could that be one of the loan options if we can’t get him a work permit straight away ?

Comment #14I can’t help seeing that young lads name and thinking King Creole…
If he’s half as good a players as Elvis was a singing the song we’ve got a gem.
If he’s only half as good as Elvis was acting in the film we’ve got a dud 🙂
