Botman, Murphy, And Wilson Start At Fulham

This is the team Eddie Howe has named for this afternoon’s match at Fulham. It has four changes from the draw against Bournemouth before the break.

Callum Wilson makes his return and Bruno Guimaraes is fit enough to start. Howe has pulled some surprises in other areas of the pitch.

Dan Burn is back at left-back despite both Matt Targett and Jamal Lewis in the squad. Jacob Murphy and Sean Longstaff are preferred over Ryan Fraser and Joelinton.

Fitness concerns may account for some of these changes. Chris Wood is available from the bench after being a doubt. The wait for Allan Saint-Maximin’s return continues.

This is who Marco Silva has selected for Fulham with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Kevin Mbabu getting starts.

Newcastle are desperate for a win but a number of factors play into today’s chances. The sharpness of Wilson after his layoff is of significant importance. The bench has a few options with Elliot Anderson a potential impact substitute.

SITC, another few minutes for Wilson would be OK. I was kinda of thinking about avoiding the halftime rest, then another ramp-up for Wilson.

How do you justify keeping a record 63 million signing out the team? Eddie bought him and will find a spot. Isak or Murphy? No brainer

Arghhh – So what do I know thought we would struggle with that midfield
Yeah they are down to ten men but we were playing better than they were before the incident.
Since then taken the game by scruff of neck
Give Wilson another 15 then rest him for next week – need him just class
And Bruno another 20 keep him too
Give Anderson a good run oot

I was concerned when I saw the line up. In particular the absence of Big Joe. The sending off certainly made things easier for us but I’ve seen previous newcastle teams not taking points against 10 men.

We’ve been excellent. Happy to eat my pre game words.

Yeah I was having a go at the midfield. Like plenty others. And everybody else just kept quiet. Nobody came on here saying what a terrific midfield

Just watching the goals on twitter,
It’s terrible reading the blog before the match, we should have faith in Eddie, yes we may not like the team selection, but surely he knows what he’s doing.
Love the reaction when we score though then the comments start changing.
Keep up the good work lads, get a few more goals second half.

so 45 more minutes of Jedi lashing out left, right and centre before he (and I quote) “jumps for joy at final whistle if we win”
