Pundit Gives His Latest Newcastle Prediction Ahead Of Momentous Day

Newcastle return to St. James’ Park on Saturday to face Brentford in a battle of top ten clubs. The atmosphere should be euphoric as Newcastle celebrate the one-year anniversary of the transformative takeover.

BBC pundit Chris Sutton has given his prediction for Saturday’s clash. He is picking Newcastle to win 2-1 for the first back-to-back win of this campaign.

Here is some of his take on the match:

Brentford are quite a stubborn team but Newcastle will take the game to them, and I can see them creating enough chances to win it.

Bees striker Ivan Toney will have a point to prove going back to St James’ Park – he is in my fantasy team, but he needs to pull his finger out if he is going to make a difference on Saturday.

Brentford have performed admirably since their promotion a few seasons ago. A hot start kept them above water until things began to unravel by winter. They added Christian Eriksen in January to help arrest the slide and ended up finishing comfortably in 13th place.

This season they have produced another promising start with 2 wins and 4 draws across their 8 fixtures. The Bees will hope to spoil Newcastle’s festive anniversary and potentially jump into the top six.

Newcastle are coming off of a dominant display at Fulham. The win was heralded by the return of Callum Wilson, who got the scoring started with the opening goal en route to a 4-1 thrashing. It was the performance of Miguel Almiron that caught the eye.

Miggy scored a brace that included a volley that will be raved about for years to come. Eddie Howe continues to get the best out of players whose futures looked in serious doubt just one year ago.

Howe could have Allan Saint-Maximin in tow on Saturday. However, he may keep the Frenchman for a second-half cameo after some of the performances last weekend. Jacob Murphy was stellar as was Sean Longstaff, who starred in the absence of Joelinton.

There are selection headaches galore for the head coach. Whoever is named will be backed by an adoring crowd. If Sutton’s scoreline is correct, there will be some nervous supporters in those stands.

Louise Taylor is a disgrace. Craig Hope has being going on about the need of our owners facing the media. It riles me when “reporters” insist that our owners need to face the press. Why should they?
I don’t see the Glazers, the Fenway group, Al Mubarak or Joe Lewis fronting up.
Human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia have nothing to do with Eddie Howe or any of the players and staff at Newcastle United and the should not be cross examined on it.
Did anyone cross examine the incumbent Man Utd manager when they went to Saudi to use their facilities?
    Answers on a pinhead.

Listened to a podcast the other day titled “What will the world cup be like for fans”
It sounds horrendous. Where do we start. Unlike most world cups that are spread over maybe ten cities, Qatar is pretty much a city state with a population of only 3M. There’s not enough hotels, so they are going for premium rates at around £300/400 a night. Because of the cost of the rights there’s going to be nowhere to watch the other matches except the Budweiser tent which is $75 just to enter. As D Micky said you’re not getting much change from $15 for a pint, FIFA are trying to negotiate happy hours between 5pm and 7pm for happy hour $7.50. You must submit a Co vd test, a reporter recently got turned away because his test was 51 hours, 3 hours out. Arrested if you take your shirt off, no holding hands in public. Only 3K people from England expected to travel.
All in all a big fookin sham.

I think Louise would rather Howe gave the players a month off as his predecessor would have done. After all what training can the players do when so many are on international duty?

Eight games in with the new ownership, sitting in 20th and we get our first win of the season, in match week 15, against 19th place Burnley. The only goal of a poor game by Wilson, is not really the best of moments but really really was much needed.

How many games did we have under Jones, was it just Brighton and Chelsea.

More of a turning point for the new ownership, that started a 9 game unbeaten run, was the home draw against ManU in our post Xmas match. With only 10 points on the board, after this match and following run, we went from 19th to 14th. Accumulating 21 points in nine games. Eddie Howe’s high pressing tactics really came to optimise the team and was galvanised against the reds.

Three matches with Jones, Palace first. I had been wondering why in my mind I had Brentford as the first match of the new ownership, but that was Howe’s official first game although he was not present. And of course the great lumucks was given his 1000th and last PL game first up.

Lastly, of the three ‘under the radar’ best moments of the new ownership, was the 72 minute penalty by Wood to win again by only goal against Wolves. This had followed a 7 match run of 6 away games that had ended with three defeats. The game broke the cycle and put the shine back on the end of season run in, culminating in the supremely dominating performance against the Gunners.

If we can recreate that atmosphere again tomorrow and put on a footballing show will be a great day.

Graeme Jones 2 draws in three with no win, did not seperate him from the previous managerial set up. But at least he was not called Steve.

Tomorrow will be a proper carnival atmosphere. I wasn’t at their first game unfortunately but despite the euphoria and celebration it was slightly overshadowed by having Bruce in the dugout and the seriousness of the situation we were in. There’ll be none of that tomorrow, there’s no pressure and the team after last week seems to be purring again. Worflags had only just returned that day as well. They’re much better organised and funded now so we’re in for a real treat tomorrow. If we get off to a good start it’ll be one of those memorable days people talk about for years.

Biggest thing for me in this last year is I look forward to watching the game now because no matter who we’re playing we have a good chance of winning and we’re also 100% assured of watching some good football…unlike he who went before who dished up nothing but drivel and gruel!

Its light and day and just lifts me!

So will Louise Taylor be asking Southgate to answer questions about Qatars human rights record when she interviews him at the world Cup?

Bet she won’t be boycotting a free media pass to go to games will she ?

It’s the hypocrisy I can’t stand with the British media
