Newcastle Co-Owners Give Interviews On One-Year Anniversary Of Takeover

On the anniversary of last October’s takeover, Newcastle’s owners have touched base with the supporters. Yesterday, it was a heartfelt open letter from PIF Governor and Newcastle Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan.

Today, Newcastle co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi look back on the past year and toward the future in a short interview. Co-owner Jamie Reuben also touches on the transformative last 12 months and the club’s vision for the future.

Staveley and Ghodoussi, as Al-Rumayyan did in his letter, express their gratitude to the fanbase. They again come across as guardians of Newcastle United which they have stated many times belongs to the supporters and the city.

Newcastle are in excellent hands under this ownership group. The last year has seen the club grow responsibly on and off the pitch. Eddie Howe’s appointment has been nothing short of sensational with the club primed for a run at Europe.

Behind the scenes, new director of football Dan Ashworth was pivotal in the summer’s transfer window. He flew to Spain late in the window to clinch an agreement for record-signing Alexander Isak. Ashworth will help build all aspects of the playing side from the academy, the women’s team, and the first team.

CEO Darren Eales arrived over the summer. Eales will take some of the workload off of Staveley’s shoulders. He’ll help oversee the various commercial deals including a new lucrative shirt sponsor.

Here are the two interviews from our co-owners.

Now that Munster has revealed himself to be a limerick writer extraordinaire I’m expecting a riposte anytime now from one of his adversaries.

    Or mine!

“Come and have a go if you think you’re bard enough”

    Reet, I’m oot!

Gonna have to mention the best song I’ve ever heard. Antony and the Johnsons cover of If it Be Your Will. He’s a tranny so will probably cause Mr Tuff sleepless nights.

The difference in a year is incredible. I remember saying to my mate ” Well, we’re still going to be relegated but at least now there’s some expectation of promotion and growth to come”. My hopes were exceeded last season. The difference now is we can watch a team, owners and manager who all “try” – all we have ever asked. We know we’re going to have some defeats, even the odd poor performance but we can usually enjoy watching the games and have some HOPE!

Would be brilliant if wor Eddie could bring Lewis’s game up to the level required. Definite potential there and been very unlucky injury wise. Eddie must see it in him or he would have loaned him out probably, as we have enough cover there.

Just a quick visit to wish each and every Toon fan a Happy Anniversary, and as far as we are concerned with new owners it`s also a Happy NEW Year.
Aye Oct 7th will always stand out as a special day for all Toon fans, will never be forgotten.
Got to say i don`t think i have ever seen a club as transformed in such a short space of time as what Nufc have, and it`s thanks to the board, staff and players for giving us a club to be proud of again.

Gary Neville has shown his true colours I see.

Noticed he says he’s still going to highlight those issues he has for years.

Is he going to sit in a stadium in Qatar, employed by Bein sports and talk about human rights? 😆

Just watched Amanda and Mehrdad`s interview and they are so genuine aren`t they.
We are so lucky to have people running the club who care as much as they do.

Happy, happy anniversary to all Newcastle fans and the owners. They have given us a team to be proud of once again. It felt good to wear my NUFC tuque this past winter and spring. It’s a pleasure to look forward to the weekend game knowing we are always in with a chance!

Just over a year ago we were in serious trouble with an owner who lets be honest, you would clean your shoes if he was on the bottom of them, you would just burn them and throw away the ashes.

Over a year later, 7th in the league without what I feel is our starting 11.

After 14 years of what can only be the hardest part of a fans life we now have a future.

We say a lot on here, we all have opinions that sometimes seem a little bit crazy, including myself.

But if the choice was now or Mike Ashley I’m taking now, the club is in good hands, the fans are in good hands, the players are in good hands, what more do we need?

This always made me mad about Ashley after he left the club, sold for 305 Million, went out with his Cockney crew for a five hour binge and tipped the waitress 5 quid.

    What a Dick.

Zhongguo Geordie – ref your earlier pop at me.

I’ve never heard of Anthony and the Johnsons and whether a person is straight/gay/ trans is of no relevance to me at all, it is the quality of their music which counts. And I will not lose any sleep about him because I do not think about him- obviously not like yourself who mentioned him in the first place.

Now behave and go and get some boiled dog.
