Two fabulous wins in succession has lifted Newcastle into 5th place in the Premier League on 14 points from our first 9 games with 3 wins, 5 draws and a single defeat at Liverpool.
Our goal difference is now 9, the 5th best in the league, and we have an interesting game at Old Trafford next Sunday, where we hope we give Manchester United a run for their money.
After the game Eddie Howe was again cool and calculated and after a goal was disallowed for Brentford early on against the run of play, Bruno scored with a great header from a Trippier cross, and we were on our way.
Howe is starting to get the very best out of his players and in particular Miggy Almiron, Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff and Jacob Murphy, who are all improving this season.
Murphy got his first goal for the club in just over a year, and the monkey is now off his back – so to speak.
The lads played intense attacking football today, and personally I was worn out just watching the way the lads were so intense and energetic all game long.
But that’s the way Howe makes them train, and they take it into each game.
We need to make it 3 wins in a row next Sunday at Old Trafford: the game has a 2:00 pm kickoff.

It’s such a perfect day, and MOTD is on soon!!
Ideally next we make Ten Hag really grind his teeth down to his gums!
In the meantime savour a great win.
Anyone who has any complaints about anything today needs locking up.

Comment #14Ace…no joke…Burns was the worst player on the pitch today…clumsy, constantly caught out of position, passed to the opposition more than passed to us, missed tackles, gave a pemalty away, slow feet, slow brain…utterly fxuking useless.
Just as well the rest of the team were fxuking brilliant.
Hopeful he’ll be “rested” for the Man U game 😉
IMO of course

Comment #17Sparky it may seem harsh to pick of weaker performers after a great display, but I think bdm is very limited there. If you think about the attacking functions of a modern full back, those abilities are just not there. If he plays left back v Man u, I’m Santa Claus.

Comment #18So, does Eddie start with the same lineup against ManU? Or does he bring Jo and ASM back into the fold? And what if Isak is healthy?
The depth we’re building thanks to Eddie turning around the careers of guys like Murphy, Almiron, Longstaff, etc, is so exciting.

Comment #19Bruno is comfortably among the best players we’ve ever had surely. Comfortable saying that, even after having played less than one full season with us. I’d really only be prepared to put Shearer and Beardsley ahead of him. Ginola, Robert, Lee, Speed et al all truly fantastic, and heroes to me, but I’m pretty confident in saying this guy is actually even better.

Comment #20What an upturn in a year, most be up there as the biggest change of events for a football club in world club football surely? (Maybe Leicester when they won the EPL?)
What we’re experiencing right now is unreal, never would have believed it (even after the take over) It has been amazing, the togetherness and work ethic the lads have is second to none.
That game today had so much intensity, it’s what won us the game so convincingly in the end. The refreshing this is we actually were not at our best. That is a great sign
And in Wor Eddie’s own words; “Intensity is our identify” the intensity and belief is what has got us to where we are here and now, no club has what we have in that respect and is our roxk solid foundation to build on as we keep within the project…I am extremely pleased and overjoyed words cannot describe it (as I’m sure you all will be, so keep believing and stay positive and patient) it’s unparalleled as to where we have came in a year from the ramshackled broken/fractured club…
The mind boggles where we will be this time next year regarding our trajectory thus far since the TO.
Bring on Manure, they’re weak as piss at the back. They’re most definitely there for the taken and will be a true benchmark. I think we have far too much for them. We matched City and Liverpool, and were unlucky in both games. We actually play better against the so called big boys. Bring it on!!!!!
Reet am off to me scratcher. With a huge smile on me face,. Goodnight any lurkers coming in late and good morning to the early risers 🙂

Comment #21Just watching the highlights again and Tripps mentality really stands out when you watch what he does outside the camera frame… after the penalty shot he was the first one in the box looking right at Pope clapping and encouraging him. then after Brunos second goal everyone else is celebrating and he is over talking tactics with Eddie. His head is always on and in the game on all angles….:Love it!

Comment #22Howe going to have a massive headache for Man utd game. Who is going to start? I think Targett might replace Burn. Murphy is going up a shift, but ASM and Almiron will give Man Utd’s defense hell. Longstaff or Joelinton?

Get set to be called Santa Claus. Not sure Eddie would want to disrupt a 4 and 5 goal run.
I got the lineup wrong because I thought people like Murphy and Longstaff would make room for the bigger names. Eddie said no. And that certainly includes Burn, a big player for wor Eddie.*
Line up Sunday: As you were.
* ps. By dropping the coach’s name I’m kind of putting you in a tough place to contradict this 😉

Please don’t let this feeling stop.
Dan Burn will have to be fatigued or have picked up a knock to be dropped from a rampant 5.1 winning team, in my opinion.
He was left in more to counter their height and aerial power, especially in set pieces. Everyone can see that.
I don’t subscribe to the opinion that he was rubbish yesterday.
This rule that it’s a pen if it hits your arm above a certain height.
His back was turned and he had no idea it was coming at him there. His body shape and motion meant he could do nowt about it. It didn’t stop the ball on its way into the goal..
This is a stupid rule. Interpretation of each event has to be a factor surely??

Anyway, can there be even a one in a thousand chance someone, even from Brentford, will say that Toney didn’t interfere with play?
If you find that person, I’ll give them the goal.
