Newcastle Prospect Has Suffered Setback With His Loan Club

Newcastle midfielder Lucas De Bolle’s symptoms from a concussion he sustained with the U23s in August have resurfaced. The midfielder suffered a setback during the international break with Scotland’s U21s and has been kept out of training with his loan club Hamilton.

De Bolle had made his debut for Hamilton just before the break getting a 20-minute cameo in a 2-0 defeat at home to Queen’s Park. Everything seemed to have been resolved for the 19-year-old but his blurred vision returned while on international duty.

Accies boss John Rankin provided the following update on Lucas as published in The Daily Record:

“Put the football to one side, he is a young kid first and foremost and the most important thing is his health is in the right way.

“His vision is a bit blurred and that becomes an issue for him. It’s not a risk we are prepared to take.

“He spoke to me on Friday and he was desperate to be involved on Saturday but he was still getting symptoms so that is hugely disappointing.

“At the same time, I feel for the kid. He is desperate to prove himself and put himself on the footballing map.

“He has ability, he’s just not getting the luck at the moment and he’s getting relapses of the symptoms he’s had before so we need to be really careful with that.

“Lucas thought was there. He was involved in the game against Queen’s Park, he went away with Scotland under-21s, everything was fine.

“But then he had a relapse so we just need to be patient with him.”

Hamilton are rightfully taking every precaution with De Bolle. He should not return to training until his symptoms are cleared no matter how desperate he is to get on the pitch. He has a bright future and that should be the sole consideration at the moment.

Local lad Kelland Watts will have to wait at least another week to make his Peterborough debut. The defender underwent knee surgery early in the pre-season and only linked up with Posh earlier this month.

The 22-year-old was in line to play in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Burton Albion but was kept out of the squad. Peterborough host Forest Green on Tuesday so we’ll see if Kell returns for that fixture.

Garang Kuol’s season didn’t get underway yesterday as Central Coast Mariners match against Newcastle Jets was postponed due to rain. Kuol has yet to make his full debut for the Aussie side but he’ll have to wait until next Saturday at Wellington.

I think I missed that bus: Bob..just for chit chat. I seem to remember that Bing Crosby did it as a duet with Satchmo. I don’t know if it was in a movie though, which is what comes to mind with that duo.

onmeedsun – a good spot in Bamburgh is along a road called the Wynding. The Wynding runs north from the main street in Bamburgh. (towards the Golf Club) Once you get past all the big houses there is a small car park on the right (free) and it is 30 yards from the beach.

Used by a lot of dog walkers.
