Portugal U21 Striker Hits Newcastle’s Shortlist

Newcastle have had quite a few scouting missions to Portugal recently. Most recently, a scout was in attendance when Porto defeated Braga 4-1 in late September. Two objects of NUFC’s desire were Porto’s goalkeeper Diogo Costa and winger Pepe.

There are reports coming out of Portugal that Newcastle also hold an interest in Braga striker Vítor Oliveira (commonly known as Vitinha and not to be confused with the PSG midfielder), who started the match in September.

The Portugal U21 international signed a new contract over the summer to 2027. It reportedly contains a £26m release clause. Vitinha has been on fire so far this season with 9 goals in 20 appearances.

Newcastle are likely not interested in a winter move for the 22-year-old. The striking department is well-stocked with Callum Wilson, Alexander Isak, and Chris Wood in the ranks. Though interest in another young striker next summer makes a lot of sense.

There has also been noise about potential interest in Lille striker Jonathan David. The Canadian has been on Newcastle’s radar for years but would cost a lot of cash whereas Vitinha has a very reasonable release clause.

    Carltoon,

It was good to see you and your man again. I got out of The Crescent Club to find that someone had reversed into my car and left a massive dent in my rear bumper. Fortunately she was spotted and I understand she’s spend some time in Police custody as her breathalyser result was positive.

Feel sorry for her in many ways as she’ll lose her licence and her next insurance costs will be sky high! It really doesn’t pay to drink & drive!

Sorry to hear of that hassle.
Don’t feel sorry for her, she’s responsible not you and you just don’t need the hassle that comes with this type of situation.
It’s not as if it was a minor mistake by someone say in a car park being distracted, it was wholly avoidable.

Al Stewart and the Road to Moscow ?

Think Amsterdam is a more peaceful prospect. They have better ‘cafes’ as well.

Saw the inevitable Ronaldo links with us. PLEASE, PLEASE NO.

Obviously it’s his agent trying to persuade someone stupid enough to sign him but I think that would be the absolute worst possible decision for us right now. I trust Howe not to make a terrible decision like that and I trust the board not to be seduced by the lure of a big name.

    1. He’s past it. That’s absolutely clear.
    2. He’s a disgrace. Incredibly unprofessional and has spent his whole career treating teammates and clubs as nothing more than a method to get him personal glory. As we’ve seen recently, anything but everyone doing everything possible to help him get what he wants is seen as “Disrespectful”. No sense of what’s best for the team at all.
    3. Doesn’t fit with our style of play. He doesn’t run any more. Doesn’t press. Simply waits for one of his servants to give him the ball in a good position

I think he’s behaved like this his whole career but now he’s done something so self centred and egotistical that everyone is having to face the truth of his character. Compare him to someone like Trippier or Miggy.

Getting paid half a million a week, refuses to do his job and claims HE is the one being “Disrespected”!

It’s mental. Sorry to vent but seeing us being linked with him was just irritating!

@ Mort – “Why would USA report it before any European countries first?” – Because of the Billions upon billions they spend on intelligence resources? Because they are a leading nation in NATO? I see no evidence that they were in fact first anyway, possibly the first to announce it in English. If, as you’re possibly hinting at, it was a NATO false flag then why draw attention by “Announcing it First”?

    Sorry to go off sport.

I can’t even believe that anyone would offer an opinion us being interested in Ronaldo. I think he’s made himself a global pariah.

Has anyone seen the video’s of the hired Qatari fans draped in England and Germany flags and tops. I really struggle to see how they’re going to fill the stadiums unless they’re planning on giving 70% of the tickets away.

Raj, they aren’t Qataris, more likely migrant workers being told to wear the exact same shirts and told what to do.

Shakhtar Donetsk have warned suitors for young superstar Mykhaylo Mudryk that they value him at €100m following his exploits in the UCL this season.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United & PSG have all monitored the 21-year-old.

Lochinvar, it was Johnj’s car that was hit, good job i didn’t have to get breathalysed. It’s a long time since I had an afternoon drinking, if ever. But I could get used to it.
JohnJ I’m so sorry that happened, it’s a good job them workmen spotted it.
I wonder who she was, there was a few women there that had a few, 😮

    Absolutely loving it!

A boy I went to school with is a massive Chelsea fan (also a massive Rangers fan and those 2 clubs seem to have a weird affiliation!) he supported them before Roman also

Just seen he was at the game in the away end and was raging with what he saw as was his mate hahahahah

“If Reese James was playing the result would have been different” “Chelsea will be back” now he is a good wing back don’t get me wrong but if he was playing he wouldn’t have been able to get out of his own half we were squeezing them so bad

I see a couple of posters have already mentioned that the celebratory scenes in Quatar for several international teams was obviously fake. Whitey was not present and there were no women.

All weird and strange – will many real fans be going there.

Qatar would probably get more local fans watching United (Newcastle) v City (Manchester not Lincoln) than most international teams fans there have no connection with.
