Newcastle have added SAUDIA as their official tour airline partner ahead of the training camp in Riyadh next month. SAUDIA will be the carrier that flies the lads to Riyadh for the 6-day training camp.

It appears that the airline will have future sponsorship opportunities as new chief commercial officer Peter Silverstone said the following:
“Whilst Newcastle United is on an exciting and ambitious journey to grow our global reach and fanbase, we are also very focussed on growing our fan base and following in Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Middle East.
“Our ambition is to become the most supported English Premier League football team in Saudi Arabia; a country whose population includes a large, young, passionate and highly engaged football community.
“We are delighted to partner with SAUDIA as our official tour airline partner, and we look forward to working with them during our trip to Riyadh and for the remainder of the 2022/23 English Premier League Season.”
This is the second sponsorship deal announced in two days. On Tuesday, Newcastle confirmed Monster Energy as the official energy drink. They will have a digital presence at St. James’ Park on matchdays.
We are still awaiting the big catch, which is the official shirt sponsors for after this season. Newcastle’s deal with FUN88 has been cut short and ends after the 2022/23 campaign.
In an earlier interview, chief financial officer Darren Eales said the following about working with PIF-related sponsors:
“It would make sense in terms of some of the doors that could be opened by PIF. They invest in a number of countries globally.
“I also think when you look at a country like Saudi Arabia with a young population, 36 million and growing, football is the number one sport and there is some natural affinity there in terms of the commercial value of having an association with Newcastle.
“The days are gone of it just being advertising and a name on the shirt, it’s about what their goals are and about what they’re trying to achieve and from that we’ve got to have fair market value, that’s the reality.
“Companies are going to want to have a demonstrable return. We’ve got the potential for something that’s really great.”
Eales’s comments from early October echo what Silverstone stated above. Newcastle are looking to grow their fanbase in Saudi Arabia. We are likely to see a PIF-related company as the shirt sponsor after this season.

Comment #125Not sure why anyone would think Mund was Mort, as someone said, except the four letter names beginning with M, the similarities end there. Unfortunately since Ian Toon and his band of Merry alts first plagued the blog back in the mid tensies, anyone who appears with a good historical blog knowledge and carries on their petty/childish digs with certain posters will be accused of being a poster they bear similarities to. I’m not sure why any first time user of the blog would start off by trying to pick fights within days of arriving here, unless of course he or she have had padt history in doing so.

Think its pretty clear.
Are you saying you’re incapable of disagreeing with a new poster Raj. So new posters you disagree with must be an old
Poster. Sure fire way to rid the blog of new posters.
Funny eh

What I’m saying is that the poster known as Mort has been having petty childish digs at me since he arrived on the blog a couple of months ago, I have ignored them so far. Until I called out his view of Ronaldo last night in which I never held back, his trying to wind me up reflected in my assessment of his view.

Comment #148There’s a hierarchy in sponsorship deals
Take a look at F1 cars.
Less visible and smaller parts of the car are one price.More visible (to TV and photos) parts attract a dhigher price level Then there’s the ultimate sponsor, highest visibility reflecting highest investment eg Red Bull
At the club every part of the NUFC structure is available to sponsor. From Training Ground to vehicles. Internal parts of the ground Every stand. Every piece of kit. You name it you can sponsor it.
Traing kit, boots, socks, shorts, and our beloved shirt.
Remains to be seen if Saudi Air are to be our ‘travel partners’ or the main feature on the shirts.
That could still go to a global brand that reaches out to the Far East, Middle East, USA and across Europe. If that’s the case then there are only a few such as sports brands like Adidas (stripes anyone ?) , Financial Institutions and IT /social Media businesses.
We can be sure that with our club profile now on the ascendency many sponsors will want to be on board. Other clubs are perhaps in decline in marketing appeal so gradually we are becoming the best place to grow your business.
More to come I suspect

Comment #155All those pundits who were beating the drum for Toney to go to the WC are looking pretty stupid now. Imagine the outcry if he had been in the squad? – I’m pretty sure Southgate was tipped off and gave Toney a swerve. Saying that I thought Wilson deserved to be there on merit as his form in recent weeks had been better than Toney’s!

Comment #157Never watched the Ronaldo interview.
Read enough beforehand to know he’d just be whining on and on.
How can any employee go on TV and criticise an employer paying them £500K a week?
Whether he likes it or not, that’s all Ronaldo is, an employee of the club. He should be fined and massively, and then turfed out on his ear.

Wow, what a cheapshot at all newbies of FPL. A lot newbies here like me mistakenly burn all the chips too. Too much written and unwritten rules to read through

You still have a chance to laugh at the end of the season though, chips have a small chance to be a double-edge sword.
