Miguel Almiron has added to his collection of awards for his exploits during October. The Paraguayan has been named The PFA Fan’s Player of the Month. He already won awards for Player of the Month and Goal of the Month.
Another award for Miggy! ???

— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) November 17, 2022
Almiron bagged 6 goals in October to help Newcastle surge up the table. His excellent form continued into this month with a goal and an assist in his two league starts.
This week Miggy was with the Paraguay squad for friendlies at Peru and Colombia. Paraguay did not qualify for the World Cup in Qatar. In yesterday’s friendly at Peru, Alimron was substituted for at halftime.
The Shields Gazette is reporting today that Almiron will not feature in the friendly at Colombia on Saturday. The 28-year-old has reportedly withdrawn from the Paraguay squad with what has been called muscle overload.
Most Magpies not involved in the World Cup are resting this week. It appears that Almiron, who has started every league match this season, was in need of a break. He’ll now get that opportunity.

Comment #41Yeah but Raj, he hasn’t bought the club only the stadium. Of course he could try to buy the club but 85% of the club is being sold to someone else as we speak so why is he not bidding while he has the chance?
He may well not want the club, he can get his free advertising with none of the risk/hassle of owning a football club if he owns just the stadium.

Comment #43Not sure how much Ashley has bought the stadium for but if it is 17M, that i had read, then he could make an absolute fortune after 3 or 4 years of PL football after promotion, unless of course he decides to use it as his advertising cow for a decade or more, then their supporters could be in for a brighter future.
Don`t have a problem with Coventry at all, nice arena anarl, as long as the leech doesn`t decide to demolish it and build another tat warehouse there they will be ok. providing all Jabba is buying it for is a quick return after 3 or 4 years.

Comment #48Hibbett I understand there is a hotel, casino etc at that site but it is not clear to me if he Ashley gets all that as part of the deal or if he only gets the stadium. I would assume that since they are built into the stadium they would essentially be leasing the space they use from the owner so Ashley would get revenue from the hotel and casino but would not own those businesses.

Comment #52Check – you really are an argumentative sod aren’t you? Talk about putting words in my mouth…
My initial comment said “Still, he’s a silly boy for getting involved in gambling and he’ll have to face the consequences.” which is hardly extreme.
Meanwhile, the responses were;
Check, “Sure Toney is guilty of breaking rules, but not guilty of any real unethical behaviour.”
Clint, “That’s what i was thinking…has it compromised anything?”
So yes, that sounds like you were both defending him to me.
If Toney has broken the rules (232 times!) then he’ll get the punishment that the rules dictate. He’s not going to go to jail but he’s paid a lot of money to play by certain rules and he hasn’t. So he’ll take his punishment and hopefully learn from it. It’s pretty bloody simple really.

TFB, yeah just read that in the link you sent. I found this bit interesting:
“The Fraser Group is also said to be interested in purchasing Gieves & Hawkins, one of the most important businesses in Savile Row’s tailoring profession. Advanced negotiations have taken place to save the dying business, who have been up for sale for much of 2022.”

The rules are a bit extreme for my liking, however they are the rules at the minute and he should have adhered to them like the majority of players do.
I also think he’s been very quiet about not going to the WC. It could be argued he’s done more than wor Wilson to be included in that 26. If it were me being left out after performing like he’s done I’d be transmitting a bit. Especially as the Southgate is probably done after the WC.
I think Toney knew he was in the brown and smelly.

Nooo, he’s probably going to bring that Doug King to his knees by crippling any chance of commercial revenue he has the chance of making, put Coventry through the ringer for a couple of seasons and get that King to sell for a fraction of the price. He then gets a football club and stadium for, in my estimation around £30M while in the mean time being called the Direct Rots or Fraser Group arena with as much publicity Keith Bishop can muster. A further £100M outlay then probably gets him in to the PL where he can flirt with relegation for many years or sell at a profit. ‘orrible cn… so and so 😕

Comment #59Regan – I doubt anything Toney has done was a criminal offence but it is possible of course. Would have to be something pretty severe if it’s a legal breach rather than just a breach of FA rules mind you!
I’d imagine there would be a legal element if he’s providing inside information for people to bet on. The betting companies wouldn’t be too happy about that kind of thing…
He’s also going to be in huge trouble if he’s betted on games that he’s actually participated in.
I think the rules are there to provide a clear line and stop people getting sucked into situations that are potentially corruption. A Premier League football betting on a goalscorer in League Two (for example) might seem like very little but if that PL footballer knows that the League Two team have told the player they’re going to try to let him score to break some record and the club are winning already, then it’s corruption. Easier to just have a clear line.

All I can think of is that he knew he’d be able to buy the club at a fraction of the price once he owned the stadium, it’ll be called tye Direct Rots within weeks anyway so there’s no hurry to own the club. He’ll obviously take great pleasure in getting the club for 66% cheaper after putting them through the ringer. He’ll do it in such away, aided by Bishop that makes him look like a Knight in shining armour.

Comment #66TfB – not withstanding the betting issues, I’d have taken Toney over Gallager or Grealish easily.
I don’t feel that the rules are too extreme to be honest. I think it’s easier to draw a line that’s clear and not subjective at all. As I used the example above, betting on any football games could mean having received inside information.

Comment #67I support that is possible Raj, as I said initially I would not put anything past him.
However, Coventry already did not own the stadium before so they were already not getting commercial revenue other than the majority of income from matchday ticket sales I would assume, which would surely still have to be the case under Ashley so I am not sure to what extent he can really strangle them realistically.
There are reports coming out of Coventry that Doug King is going to offer Ashley a quick profit on the stadium which was the other option I initially suggested.

Comment #76Rotonda, thank you for acknowledging my knowledge on players. Like you, I know a certain amount, and yes I wud love Pedro, at risk of being called a pervert by a simple old man on here.
But unfortunately I find myself repeating myself for you and the handful of people who agree with you.
1. I don’t have a problem with recognising other people being correct on something, and me being incorrect. Genuinely
2. I was too tolerant of Bruce but history will say that he played shitt football and got lower mid table twice, however he fluked it. But he did. Hands up though.
3. Rafa was put beyond fault by you and others. Of course the big issue was Ashley, but as I said so many times, rafa was in decline and played awful football. His subsequent rapid demise showed I was fully vindicated.
4. The fact that I highlighted , correctly, that Eddie was known for defensive weaknesses ( at that time) does not mean that I was saying he was a poor coach. This is typical blog logic from the thicker end of the spectrum ( you know who they are ) I wouldn’t expect that lack of logic from you.
5. Arteta etc , well done for singing his praises early, but it’s not like I ever said he was rubbish or panned him, but credit to you for getting it right .
I fundamentally disagree about me being unwilling to acknowledge that others may be correct and me wrong, and in reality my stubbornness has only come through about Rafa, and that was largely due to being attacked by s certain % of people on here.
If you don’t agree with the above, that alright. Peace and all that, we can disagree civilly I hope.

Fair enough I really don’t know what is on Ashley’s mind either. To me he has 3 options:
1. Make a quick few million by selling the stadium. He paid £17M and King put a last minute bid in to buy it for £25M so he could make an easy £8M or more with virtually no effort.
2 Keep the stadium and slowly rake in leases and rents etc while putting his crappy signage in there as well for some free SD advertising.
3. Buy the club, but as said he could have bought the club already if he wanted to.
Magic,
As usual I am recording it mate. Have you seen Kieran Wilsons ridiculous fluke, I caught that earlier:
