Miguel Almiron has added to his collection of awards for his exploits during October. The Paraguayan has been named The PFA Fan’s Player of the Month. He already won awards for Player of the Month and Goal of the Month.
Another award for Miggy! ???

Almiron bagged 6 goals in October to help Newcastle surge up the table. His excellent form continued into this month with a goal and an assist in his two league starts.
This week Miggy was with the Paraguay squad for friendlies at Peru and Colombia. Paraguay did not qualify for the World Cup in Qatar. In yesterday’s friendly at Peru, Alimron was substituted for at halftime.
The Shields Gazette is reporting today that Almiron will not feature in the friendly at Colombia on Saturday. The 28-year-old has reportedly withdrawn from the Paraguay squad with what has been called muscle overload.
Most Magpies not involved in the World Cup are resting this week. It appears that Almiron, who has started every league match this season, was in need of a break. He’ll now get that opportunity.

He obviously does make the odd faux pa’s which we all enjoy greatly but it seems like realising he was about to lose around £150M on us and selling up, he has been interested in buying another club. I don’t ever believe he never done his due diligence on us in the first place but I bet he has now, there’s a very good reason he’s shown such an interest in the two former and now distressed former PL clubs, Derby and now Coventry.

Comment #91I’d like to see Mbappe, Kane, Ronaldo and Messi etc ruled out for minor injuries, I’d also like to see major arrests (as long as no harm or fines come to them) for LBGT and fans just generally mildly misbehaving,(taking your top off at the match) the whole thing is a complete mismanagement of corruption. Blatter allowed his ‘mate’ and mentor Havelange to get away with it while clocking his bribes and blackmailing him for it to get the top job. Blatter, while thinking he’d perfected corruption obviously let it go to his head and that’s why we are where we are.

Comment #94Raj, funnily It did cross my mind that he once again has not done due diligence actually. What if he doesn’t know that he cant just rename the stadium for close to a decade?
Also, at the time he bid for the stadium he could not know who might potentially buy the football club which sounds risky to me assuming his goal is to get the football club.
The more I have looked into this though the more sure I am he won’t be building a warehouse there. I have looked at the land on Google maps and it makes no sense. There is a Grosvener casino and a Hilton hotel on that site which are integrated into the stadium. I would bet they have a 99 year lease (or more) on those businesses.

Comment #95I think while the top man, eg Havelange was getting his $1.5M from adidas then no harm is done to the common man (except of course the slave workers in Bangladesh) but that’s for a different conversation. But when the likes of Putin and Qatar are getting it with no real footballing history, I can accept Russia over Australia to an extent because they do have a bit, but Qatar over Australia when a non Euro S America country was due one, that is really taking the biscuit.

Comment #96The funny thing about Blatter is that he protests his innocence even to this day but at the same time refuses to leave Switzerland as he fears that if he does the FBI will arrest and question him. Says it all really.

I listened to a great podcast that basically explained how, although guilty as sin, he was never actually found guilty by a Swiss Court (some people called that corruption) not on your nelly, why would they( the Swiss legal system) have any interest in protecting him, he learned from years under Havelange how to protect himself from bribes. He actually never had to take any, his all expenses lifestyle and salary were huge as it was, all he had to do was grant power and finances to those around him while living a life of luxury.

Comment #104Mister Tuff is definitely nee gimp the man says it how it is. I’ve been in the firing line a times, but I get his stance on tomfoolery on here and calls it out. Many times rightly so…but to call someone a gimp is unethical and offensive as it can only mean 2 things )A) slang for a physically disabled person, esp one who is lame. (B) Also slang for a sexual fetishist who likes to be dominated and who dresses in a leather or rubber body suit with mask, zips, and chains.
Which one is it the Raj? Explain yourself to use such words to attack a fellow poster on a football blog?
Ps Mister Tuff is the No1 poster, closely followed by Check the Toasty (IMO of course)

Comment #105Anyway since we appear to be firmly in Qatargate. For anyone that missed the full extent of the corruption involved you can watch “The Men Who Sold the World Cup” it is on Quest this weekend pretty sure it is on Amazon prime too.
Qatars bid was basically “Here is a bunch of cash. Admittedly we don’t have any stadiums or anything like that but we can build those”
It would have been better if it was either in a country that had the infrastructure or in one that at least would use the stadiums afterwards. The whole thing is a joke.
Oh and Raj that Twitter link was interesting, at least you will have an excuse for your sweepstake elimination if that guy is right. He has more to lose than just twitter followers/reputation too, that message will have been picked up!

The Panorama documentary is quite revealing as it gives an insight in to how much Blatter is paid and how he weilds power, not by bribes but by keeping in position by issuing TV and advertising rights to those that will vote for him. I’ve only watched the first two of the Netflix but they more focus on the out and out corruption of Havelange and Blatter’s rise to power.

Comment #118Any corruption is wrong and demonstrates what type of shithouse you are. Even if you turn a blind eye to any such behaviour.
Watched all of the Netflix, no surprises, boatload of orrible cnuts, was a tough watch as it basically details what most human beings are like.
Self interested, deluded greedy assholes.
Blatter has convinced himself that he has taken football to areas of the globe that others wouldnt. Thus justifying in his own thick bonce that the money he gained was fair. What a twat he is.
