Future Magpie Relishing Chance To Make An Impact On The World Stage

Garang Kuol signed off with Central Coast Mariners in superb fashion ahead of his looming World Cup venture. The 18-year-old bagged a brace off the bench to spark a comeback that came up just short.

Kuol is hoping to transfer his growing reputation as an impact sub to the world stage beginning next week. The pacy forward, who joins Newcastle United in January, is ready to make his mark for the Australian national team.

Kuol has been interviewed this morning with Australia’s World Cup ready to kick off against France on Tuesday. ESPN has published the following comments from Kuol, who is getting a lot of attention due to his recent exploits. Here is what he said:

“I don’t really pay attention to what’s said around me. I’m mainly just focused on what I do on the field and in training and games. If I’m not playing well I’m not going to look at what’s online.

“What’s on the field is what makes me happy and gives me the motivation to keep pushing forward.

“[Becoming the youngest World Cup Socceroo ever is] just another label, it doesn’t really mean anything. I’ve just got to perform on the field and that’s what makes me the player I am.”

“It’s a very exciting experience for me. I’ve been watching the Socceroos for a long time and the World Cup is the biggest stage. So I want to prove myself.

“Of course [I can make an impact off the bench] it’s all about just having the confidence in yourself and being ruthless and having that mindset to want to create something and make an impact.

“I just want to play well, create something, and make an impact.”

Kuol made his Socceroos debut during the September international break against Chris Wood and New Zealand. Less than a week later, he was unveiled as Newcastle’s first January signing. He will likely head out on loan initially.

Australia are in Group D, which has two top European nations. They face 2018 World Cup winners France on Tuesday. European semifinalists Denmark are also in the group along with Tunisia.

Kuol was asked about squaring off against France and some of their world-class defenders. He revealed that he’s relishing the challenge:

“I wouldn’t say intimidation. I find it more exciting. To see what you can do against players of that calibre. You’ve just got to go up to it with the right mindset and work to create something.”

Newcastle fans will have a keen eye on the future Magpie over the next few weeks. His involvement should also expedite his ability to obtain a work permit. Hopefully, he gets his chance to make an impact on Tuesday against France.

I would love for him to have a really good world cup and have everyone raving about him with all Man Utd , Liverpool fans etc “Sign him up Jurgen” to then have that sinking feeling when they realise Newcastle have already got him…….

    Tfb,
Do you know how immensely satisfying the top poster, who is being chased away “Mort” is proved to be The Last Jedi, given that Dr Fenham had the fooker banned 😀

Can you actually get someone banned , surely Neil doesn’t just ban somebody based on somebody emailing him

    DrGloom,
No, you get yourself banned for bannable actions but given Fenners said to him you’ll now be known as The Last we’ll hear of the Jedi, says that he helped in his departure, deservedly so I might add after his behaviour got way out of line. I would just find it a tad ironic if it was the same guy that coming home is trying to claim is “being chased away”

LCBP – you can bet that there are loads of football fans who don’t realise that we’ve signed Kuol already so that would be very funny! They’ll think they could get him for a bargain until they realise we’ve got there already… 🙂

DrGloom – there are no mods on this blog and there’s no way that the admins are reading the comments on every post so I’d say the best way to draw attention to genuinely inappropriate posts would be to email admin about it. They would then be able to check the posts themselves and decide what action (if any) is to be taken.

Cue the comments from the loons that, “well, you would know that because you got X/Y/Z banned”…

    Raj,

You are full of BS I actually ignored the Last Jedi never did I say what you have quoted #7 it was most definitely not me that said that… I ignored him in the end as I try to do with most WUMS that frequent on here…if I remember rightly it was mainly you that took offence to how he interacted with me re what he used to say about my wife. But like I said I didn’t take the person “the last Jedi “ seriously just skipped his posts. I’m on my way up to gods country Newcastle to attend a wedding. So I’ve a 5 hour drive, so can’t engage but fury I thought I’d correct your post #7 as BS as you’ve sort of pointed to me emailing the blog admin to get someone banned which if you’re saying that is wrong. Was it not you that had him banned? I wouldn’t be surprised if it were mind you 😉

Couldn’t stand Baddiel and Skinner. Especially Skinner. They were good at first but they got a bit full if themselves.
I thought there treatment of Jason Lee was shocking, bordering on abuse. It was relentless.
They always took a joke too far. It was around about then I stopped watching.

Novo – that kind of abuse was rife then. It was before people “woke” up and realised what a toll the comments can have on someone’s mental health. It’s not just the hour long weekly show but the guy will have had total random strangers shout comments about a “pineapple on his head” when he’s in the street, a supermarket, a restaurant etc. That’s going to get tiresome pretty damn quickly and stressful soon after. Many people didn’t even think about those kind of things in those days though, it was just banter…a joke.

Regarding the Royal mail strike action, believe me none of us want to be on strike as we simply can’t afford to at this time of year but believe me the alternative is far worse and not just for the 120,000 postmen and women, they are currently trying to get rid of Saturday mail deliveries and want to eventually go down to 3 day’s a week, god help anyone waiting on hospital appointments and the like

Just to be clear, unless someone is matey with the admins then none of us can “get someone banned”. The most anyone of us could do is to report inappropriate behaviour and leave it up to the correct people (the admins) to decide what they want to do. If I had the power to ban people, I can think of a few that I’d have banned already…but I don’t…though I’m sure there are a few glad that I don’t!

Good suggestion but unworkable on here.

The blog comments box isn’t wide enough to accommodate all the tw@t points we’d rack up on a daily basis.
