Newcastle’s three England stars have been preparing for Monday’s match against Iran to begin their World Cup journey. Newcastle posted the following photographs of the trio earlier on Saturday in sunny Qatar.

While all of the three are in contention for Monday, January target James Maddison is still nursing a knee injury he picked up last weekend when Leicester down West Ham 2-0. Maddison was withdrawn at halftime after scoring his seventh goal of the season.
The playmaker’s recent scan was positive but the injury isn’t serious enough to put his World Cup dream in doubt. Nick Pope, speaking to talkSPORT, offered the following update on his international teammate:
“He’s [Maddison] in good spirits. Obviously, he wants to be out there training more than anyone, so he’ll be with us soon, I’m sure.
“He’s in good spirits and he wants to have an impact in this World Cup. He’s come here in really good form, I’ve been watching him obviously from a distance and he’s really right at the top of his game.
“So I’m sure we’ll have him with us soon.”
Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes had a scary moment earlier in the week. The 25-year-old injured his foot during a training session after a challenge from Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.
Bruno returned to the session but was reportedly hobbled after suffering the knock. Thankfully, he was fine during Brazil’s final training session on Friday according to The Chronicle.
Guimaraes posted the following on Twitter on Saturday as the Brazil squad jetted off for Qatar.

Bruno also revealed that Brazil manager Tite is keen on utilizing some of the playmaking ability he’s unleashed since his move to Tyneside. Guimaraes is certain to build on his 8 caps during this World Cup.

Comment #3Jail I get that, I’m just so surprised that’s the option the majority would pick. It feels daft to me, it hinders long term progress massively for short term gains which are not really that great to begin with imo.

Don’t worry, he’s only got one team. It makes me expand the league if I want to see more than twenty teams and when it expands it duplicates one of the teams for some weird reason. I should have deleted the duplicated team before I pasted it on here. Sorry about that!

Comment #29Jail Bruno doesn’t start imo. Tite named everyone of his midfielders except Bruno when he was giving reasons why Joelinton cant get in the team. He named Casemiro first and called him one of the best midfielders in the world.
Reading between the lines it doesn’t sound like he’s going to start Bruno. I’d leave him out if I were you.

Comment #35Ash Bruno plays DM with both Newcastle and Brazil. I.e Casemiros position. He is just given freedom to roam in the Newcastle team but he definitely plays AM for both sides bud.

I think that says everything tbh. Bruno imo is still considered a replacement player. I think its a mistake but I’m not Tite.
