Kieran Trippier Gets Start For England Against Iran

Kieran Trippier is in Gareth Southgate’s starting eleven, and gets front billing, as England get their World Cup started against Iran. Nick Pope and Callum Wilson are on the bench.

This is Trippier’s 38th cap for England as he gets the nod at right-back. The 32-year-old has been in top form for Newcastle this term with 17 appearances, 1 goal, and 4 assists across all competitions.

England are in Group B along with the United States and Wales, who play each other later today. In between the Group B matches, Senegal (without injured star Sadio Mane) face The Netherlands in the remaining Group A match.

Yesterday, the World Cup got underway as Ecuador soundly defeated hosts Qatar 2-0 through a brace by former West Ham and Everton forward Enner Valencia. The 33-year-old, who currently plays for Fenerbahce, tops the Turkish Super Lig with 13 goals.

Correct Taco unbelievable character and resilience from Marl Allen to come back from 6-1 down to win the UK title mate. Did you beat your mate again in the pool on Saturday 😀 😀

Don’t change much, dont think the goal difference would be an issue…

Well, anyway for England, perhaps it could be important for Iran.

I think that’s the biggest issue with the VAR, seeing that scenario all too often. That was never a clear and obvious error by the ref!
Was it wor Micky Oliver that stood his ground last season and didn’y change his mind?

    TTT,
That was a bit harsh, I had my captain on Foden I thought which I changed to Trips today.

Well, England is quiet impressive must say, for this iranian certainly had a bad day, but this is a descent team.

Taremi for example is a top scorer for FC Porto.

Shouldn’t even be looking at that penalty on VAR never mind actually giving it!

Magic, I did indeed 13-12 – it was a right nail-biter, should have killed him off sooner I was 10-7 up but he brought it back to a 12-12 decider.

Raj, I didn’t mean it seriously mate but I thought as king of the FPL you would know why your score was wrong (it is correct now). Your captain was not Foden it was Estupian I saw that this morning when looking at peoples teams. Bet you wish you hadn’t made that change, I am above you now.

    🙂

TFB, exactly or they could just use their eyes like I suggested, he can see the bloody stadium and figure out like WL toon did that there is no way that seats 68K and there is not 20K empty seats. I note they never corrected it either. The just leave everyone with the impression that there were 20K empty seats for an England game, which would be pretty shocking and a damning indictment of the WC if true, that is probably whey they didn’t correct it. That or plain incompetence.
