Gareth Southgate Protecting Wilson As He Sits Out Today’s Session

England boss Gareth Southgate is determined to protect Newcastle striker Callum Wilson. According to The Athletic, the 30-year-old is on a different program from the rest of the squad.

Eddie Howe implemented something similar for his star striker after his latest injury in September. Southgate will take precautions to help ensure Wilson remains fit during this World Cup.

Wilson is one of many England players that didn’t participate in today’s session. Southgate also rested his starting eleven while Leicester City’s James Maddison has yet to train with the squad after suffering a minor knee injury before the break.

Wilson came on for Harry Kane in yesterday’s 6-2 win over Iran. Kane was limping after the match but is reportedly fine today. Callum provided the assist on Jack Grealish’s goal in the 90th minute. Kieran Trippier played the entire match which had 24 minutes of added time.

Next up for England is the United States, who drew 1-1 against Wales in their opener yesterday. The Americans dominated the first half before Wales manager Rob Page tweaked his tactics bringing striker Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore on for Leeds’ Daniel James after the break.

The tactical change resulted in a much better half for Wales, who equalized on a converted penalty from Gareth Bale. United States boss Gregg Berhalter opted against bringing young Dortmund star Gio Reyna on despite the 20-year-old declaring he is 100% fit and ready to go.

Watching the England game as Wor B mentioned.
England play did look very similar to Newcastles approach.
South Gate watching Newcastle maybe wasn’t all about our players but more about how to get his team playing better.

Seen the talk of Dier killed to death, on most stats he is below most English players including Big D, there are at least several defenders above dier dire on the list.

Wales / USA result, good for England, great to see some Newcastle players playing, if England don’t beat the living shite out of USA and Wales then they have issues.

Watching the Tunisia v Denmark match. Very good game. Cracking sliding tackle on Erikson in the first few minutes.

Tunisia playing well -hope they win – recall Schmeichel slagging us off not so long back.

Have a feeling USA game could be tricky for England? On paper we should beat them easily enough, however, on paper KSA should have been beaten easily by Argentina.

It doesn’t surprise me to see Holt, Souness Keane etc, all over nufc .

Nufc has fk all to do with today’s brilliant result. To slag us off now is just opportunistic, to vent their hatred of nufc.

Keane recently called Geordies arrogant. At least we know where he stands. Other journos will have the keyboard at the ready, eager to fry nufc.

    Sorry, but fk them.

The more broadcasters/pundits use every excuse imaginable to have a “pop” at us, the more I agree with many on here and say f**k em!

Just laugh it off, sad barstewards. 😀

    Bob, good points

There was a talk last night on RTE. A Qatari spokesman(not sure who he is ) made a similar comment

Ie the West expects Qatar to respect and acknowledge difference and diversity. But the west refuses to acknowledge the different culture of Qatar?

    Tbh,
They’ve always hated us, out of jealousy of our unswerving support. Come rain or shine!
They used to show it by taking the piss out of our circumstances and the circus, which they helped foster.
    Now, it’s just plain fear!

Yeah Munster, the situation has become very “muddled” with mass migration of Europeans around the World and equally large numbers moving to Europe from elsewhere.

I think the politicians expected total integration to happen, but it hasn’t. As a result pockets of people from different backgrounds or faiths, live largely their own lives in someone else’s country and then the trouble starts.

I’ve lived in a Muslim country and totally respected their way of life, but I didn’t integrate (tbh it wasn’t really encouraged). Big issue, best left off here I suppose, I certainly don’t know the answers, but if everyone respected others customs, it would be a decent start. 🙂

Munster; That’s a laugh, Keane calling Geordies arrogant. Coming out with generalised statements like that is contemptible. He probably doesn’t know any Newcastle United supporters let alone Geordies.
Furthermore broadcasters allow him and Souness spout any old shite without any cross examination.
They are complicit in the denigration of our fan base.

Wales don’t hate England. Ever been to rugby at the park? In pub by the Taff and in the stadium, afterwards? No problems. They just like to pretend they hate us. Different thing.

Keane and Souness are only bitter as neither country’s team are in the World Cup.
They need something to complain about, Keane Sunderland and Souness feels hard done by when manager of Newcastle.

Let it go you couple of disgusting human beings, imagine being married to these two fK wads, feel sorry for the wives. It’s my ball and I’m taking it home syndrome.

These players shin pads come flying off so its not securely worn. Isn’t that health and safety issue? Do officials need to check if kit is worn properly?
When I wore shin pads it had straps to keep it secure. These players just slide a piece down.

These pundits are useless and all they do is talk about the obvious stuff. What I want is discussion of tactics how both teams have set up and what their game plan is. All Keane does is talk about tackles and desires and commitment and their opinions. I want expert views on how the play should be and shouldn’t be tactically with screenshots not what I’ve already seen during game play.

Peter: they’re not trying to have an impact on you as you are a Geordie and a Newcastle United supporter and know they are spouting shite.
They are promoting an anti NUFC and Geordie agenda to influence people’s opinions of us which they should not be allowed to do.
It wouldn’t be so bad if if was light hearted banter but it is unadulterated bile.
If someone went on the TV or radio and go on about the Irish or the Scottish the way they attack us they would be quite rightly censured.
