Kuol Makes World Cup Debut As Australia Falls To France

Garang Kuol made his World Cup debut for Australia tonight as the Socceroos were soundly defeated by defending champions France 4-1. Kuol came on in the 73rd minute for Craig Goodwin as part of a double switch.

The match started auspiciously for the Aussies as they took the lead through Goodwin in the 9th minute. France soon found their form with a header from Adrien Rabiot to level the match in the 27th minute.

Olivier Giroud put France ahead after Rabiot played provider with a pass into the box that was slotted into the net by the former Gunner. The half ended with France holding the 2-1 advantage.

In the 68th minute, Kylian Mbappe added France’s third with a header. Soon after, it was Mbappe’s turn to provide for Giroud as his cross was headed home by the striker to make it 4-1.

It was at that point that Kuol came into the fray along with fellow Sudanese refugee Awer Mabil. Despite being up by three goals, France pushed for another which meant Kuol had few opportunities to impress on his debut.

    Martoon from previous,

It is far more complicated than just playing for Aus to get a work permit. To summarise – work permit points are acquired based on the level of domestic and international football someone plays and of course the amount of it. Australia ranks awfully in this system. Also Kuol has not even started a game for his league team or his nation.

This is why NUFC will want to loan him to a European club in a decent league who will play him regularly (not easy)

If you want details check here for example:

    https://worldfootballindex.com/2020/12/work-permits-premier-league-post-brexit-english-clubs-efl-libertadores/

Kuol has a long road yet. I hope he makes it and in Howe and Ashworth I trust.

The Taco Taker @5 – Cheers – I didn’t realise how complicated it was – but it looks as though a player needs to accumulate 15 points in their points system so loaning to a European club is the easiest way to do this!

Our Captain showed everyone how a Captain should behave even when confronted by most of the Iran team.

He really does think about every aspect of a match.

Mbappé is as gifted as he’s exasperating at the moment… but what a player, if can be more serious in the games to come, we can hope something in this world Cup.

From what I saw today Garang looked scared shitless, yes I know it’s the biggest stage in his career but he’s way to young to be there and way to scared for the premier.
I have always said age shouldn’t matter and believe that but this kid needs a few years in a second league in Europe to see if he can gain experience.

No reason to be too harsh with Garang, when he entered in play, Australia was totaly hammered by France and barely touched the ball… so was nothing to do for a forward in such a situation.

Niafron – France got better as the time progressed – but Australia were poor after a good start.

But in tournament football – the key is progression – getting better and better as the competition progresses.

After the Aussie goal I bet you were shouting “Mon Dieu, Zut alors, sacre bleu”.

    Ahahah!

The last time a french cursed like that, France was probably still a Monarchy!

But yes, after 20 minutes, i was worry, cause i seen everything i feared: no pressure, technical errors, few movements and defensive mistakes.

And people in Severn Trent water catchment should boycott their water supplies as they are part owned by a Middle East country
Should I boycott Northumbria Water cos they are owned by the Chinese because of their appalling human rights record.

Naifron, I’d say France are better than England. Better or more fluid in attacking moves.

Both have slightly dodgy keepers and suspect defences.

Probably means if they met instead of a high scoring game it’d ve 0-0 and pens (the way unexpected things happen) 😆

We have made serious errors in selling off some of our companies for a quick buck. Should never let foreign companies own anything to do with our resources -water/gas/fuel/ etc etc.

Chinese now own Kentucky Fried Chicken!!!

UK problem has always been not investing in our inventions.
Our current bunch of politicians (on all sides) are absolutely shocking and not fit to hold any positions never mind being an MP.
