Garang Kuol made his World Cup debut in Australia’s 4-1 defeat against France last night. The 18-year-old came on for lone Aussie goalscorer Craig Goodwin in the 73rd minute.
The appearance was Kuol’s 2nd cap for the Socceroos. He made his debut against Chris Wood and New Zealand during the September international break. In entering the match last night, Kuol became the 9th youngest player in World Cup history.
France’s dominance after Australia took the early lead continued after Kuol’s entrance. France were pushing for more goals which meant little joy for the teenager up front with few touches.
After the match, Kuol spoke to CodeSports about his experience. The Shields Gazette has published the following from the young attacker.
“To see six-foot-four people as quick as me just shows the big difference between me and some of those players. Only hard work is going to mean making it to that level. Good to get that taste.
“It felt pretty long chasing France around! When I came on I was just excited to show what I can do. I think it’s something I need to look at with the coaches to see how I can get on the ball more.”
Next up for the Aussies is Tunisia, who battled Denmark to a scoreless draw yesterday. Hopefully, Garang will get another opportunity to shine this Saturday. While his debut was frustrating, it’ll be a valuable learning experience.
Kuol was also asked about his pending move to Newcastle United in January. He revealed that he continues to receive a lot of support from the Toon army. He even stated that he wears black and white shoes in support of his future club.
Australia forward Garang Kuol to @TheAthleticFC on joining Newcastle:
“I’ve been reading a lot of messages, a lot of support, people saying “Welcome to the Toon” and stuff. I’ll just send them a photo of these shoes!”https://t.co/E1adIoMpRR#FIFAWorldCup #Qatar2022 #AUS #NUFC pic.twitter.com/APsGcqsQWP

It also looks like Harry Kane’s scan on his ankle has shown no damage according to multiple reports. England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford also revealed that Kane took part in today’s session ahead of Friday’s match against the USA.

wikipedia page says Iran have won it 3 times. Asia cup has Iran and Iraq and Japan and Korea. Japan and Korea aren’t arabic the last time I checked. In recent times even Australia have joined the asia cup

I’m talking about now, this tournament.
Look similarly matched…decent!
Germany look tougher, Spain more skill.
This is no test for Spain!
Germany will be out for blood!

Comment #43The main competition is the Asian Cup like Afcon and Euros. Arabic cup is something else.

Comment #44Mort, common sense is accepting that you are wrong when proven to be wrong rather than making up you own rules as to why you are right. You learned what MENA means, so at least that is something.

Comment #45My mate said he’s tried to make a substitution to bring on a Belgian player who hasn’t played yet to replace an Argentina player who scored a zero and he gets an error message. He sent me a screen shot. It just flat out won’t let him do it. I haven’t had that problem though (so far).

Comment #46Lesh, from earlier Re the misspelling of my name.
At first, I bridled and thought uh oh, here we go….then I immediately burst into a fit of the giggles as I thought it was hilarious.

Comment #49There’s a content provider who seems to think that if you hit your Wildcard this week then your transfers remain active up until the last game of round two, therefore being able to choose two teams, one for this week and one for round three :scratchingchin: emoji

I hope you didn’t put that £10 on Costa Rica
Spain are winning 5 – 0 with less than 10 minutes to go plus whatever’s added on for stoppages!

Comment #62Must say this game looked really empty towards the end, I could understand a few Costa Rica fans leaving, but I don’t actually think they have. Stadium looks 50-60% full to me.

Comment #64Again they just describe goals we can see for ourselves. Instead of talking how Costa should have defended or how tactically Spain took them apart. What’s point of paying these pundits lots of money when you can just get anyone off the street to do same thing and pay them minimum wage.

Comment #65Mort, The “rule” which makes you correct after saying this in response to TFB stating that the MENA teams had done well and mentioned Tunisia and Morocco:
“Nov 23, 2022 at 11:33 AM
Comment #106
Someone doesn’t know their geography. I’m sure Tunisia and Morocco are in Africa not the Mena region”
No-one is debating that the countries don’t play in AFCON you just bring that up to avoid the fact that it is not that TFB does not know his geography it is that you don’t know your terminology.
“siuuuuu”

Belgium a bit slow at the back an all and generally play5, play slow and are pretty passive.

Comment #72but you don’t know what TFB meant clearly because you didn’t know what MENA meant. Why can’t TFB compare various teams that are in the MENA region? We can compare Canada to Cameroon if we want.
On Ronaldo, from the person who was banging on about signing Ronaldo for days that’s rich. I am pretty sure your entire bedroom is a shrine to Ronaldo, duvet and all.
