Garang Kuol made his World Cup debut in Australia’s 4-1 defeat against France last night. The 18-year-old came on for lone Aussie goalscorer Craig Goodwin in the 73rd minute.
The appearance was Kuol’s 2nd cap for the Socceroos. He made his debut against Chris Wood and New Zealand during the September international break. In entering the match last night, Kuol became the 9th youngest player in World Cup history.
France’s dominance after Australia took the early lead continued after Kuol’s entrance. France were pushing for more goals which meant little joy for the teenager up front with few touches.
After the match, Kuol spoke to CodeSports about his experience. The Shields Gazette has published the following from the young attacker.
“To see six-foot-four people as quick as me just shows the big difference between me and some of those players. Only hard work is going to mean making it to that level. Good to get that taste.
“It felt pretty long chasing France around! When I came on I was just excited to show what I can do. I think it’s something I need to look at with the coaches to see how I can get on the ball more.”
Next up for the Aussies is Tunisia, who battled Denmark to a scoreless draw yesterday. Hopefully, Garang will get another opportunity to shine this Saturday. While his debut was frustrating, it’ll be a valuable learning experience.
Kuol was also asked about his pending move to Newcastle United in January. He revealed that he continues to receive a lot of support from the Toon army. He even stated that he wears black and white shoes in support of his future club.
Australia forward Garang Kuol to @TheAthleticFC on joining Newcastle:
“I’ve been reading a lot of messages, a lot of support, people saying “Welcome to the Toon” and stuff. I’ll just send them a photo of these shoes!”https://t.co/E1adIoMpRR#FIFAWorldCup #Qatar2022 #AUS #NUFC pic.twitter.com/APsGcqsQWP

It also looks like Harry Kane’s scan on his ankle has shown no damage according to multiple reports. England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford also revealed that Kane took part in today’s session ahead of Friday’s match against the USA.

Some good sensible comments from James Milner surrounding his time with Newcastle.

I lived in leam Lane in the 90’s and I bet I know his family but anyway the kid is good criac but he needs to understand Fenham who is a good hearted kid and just got a bad rep on here for standing up for posters getting shit from the handbag crew

Comment #245As an aside it is interesting that Lpool and Man U owners are looking to sell up. They understand mathematics. Before NUFCs amazing recent rise it was 4 from 6 into likely CL spots. Now it is 4 from 7 and they don’t like their odds.
Technically they should be the 2 best placed clubs to not worry about us should they not?

Comment #247ManU and the Scousers in a dog fight for Chinese or Faemr Eastern investment is hilarious. No room for both .
Both two club cities with grotty stadiums
One in the shadow of City the other in the shadow of the new Everton bowl
No American style closed shop Euro franchise to bail them out
Cut and run Yankee owners
They’re in decline and know it.
Brand life cycles are similar
Like Ratners, Woolworths or Cadbury chocolate, both are somehow tacky and unappealing.

Comment #253CH why should I bother? The communication is one way now after this post. You say you reset every day but you don’t. You make claims you cannot back up. But it is just Banta when you say it is.
Your last post (amongst many others) says it all. This is my last reply to you..
You wonder if some of your posts were removed. Why? I am sure not one of mine would be.
You have a low opinion of me, the feeling is mutual.

Comment #268Everton have reported league-record losses of over £370million across the 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21 campaigns.
The EPL seem implicit in facilitating Everton’s rescue than dealing with points deductions and fines than should apply.
More dodgy than a dodgy dodgers dodgy dodge .
The party line remains that Everton have worked with the Premier League and that various add-backs see them fall within the £105m worth of losses allowed by the Financial Fair Play system over three years.

That should help give us even more leeway in what losses we can suffer. Also given the fact they have been nowhere near that top four and haven’t hired the experts to bring in the extra revenue means we can even avoid getting anywhere near those losses. It might be a blessing having the Fun88 an extra year, if we finish above Chelsea, Man U and Lpool for example, there’s not a single thing the PL can say if we get sponsorship on par or slightly higher than them. They simply don’t have a leg to stand on.

I don’t think Neymar and Vini Jr will press as much as our lads.
It would be good to see Bruno have some time on the pitch.
Mitro could be a handful for their defence.
