Kuol Discusses World Cup Debut As He Vows To Continue Working Hard

Garang Kuol made his World Cup debut in Australia’s 4-1 defeat against France last night. The 18-year-old came on for lone Aussie goalscorer Craig Goodwin in the 73rd minute.

The appearance was Kuol’s 2nd cap for the Socceroos. He made his debut against Chris Wood and New Zealand during the September international break. In entering the match last night, Kuol became the 9th youngest player in World Cup history.

France’s dominance after Australia took the early lead continued after Kuol’s entrance. France were pushing for more goals which meant little joy for the teenager up front with few touches.

After the match, Kuol spoke to CodeSports about his experience. The Shields Gazette has published the following from the young attacker.

“To see six-foot-four people as quick as me just shows the big difference between me and some of those players. Only hard work is going to mean making it to that level. Good to get that taste.

“It felt pretty long chasing France around! When I came on I was just excited to show what I can do. I think it’s something I need to look at with the coaches to see how I can get on the ball more.”

Next up for the Aussies is Tunisia, who battled Denmark to a scoreless draw yesterday. Hopefully, Garang will get another opportunity to shine this Saturday. While his debut was frustrating, it’ll be a valuable learning experience.

Kuol was also asked about his pending move to Newcastle United in January. He revealed that he continues to receive a lot of support from the Toon army. He even stated that he wears black and white shoes in support of his future club.

It also looks like Harry Kane’s scan on his ankle has shown no damage according to multiple reports. England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford also revealed that Kane took part in today’s session ahead of Friday’s match against the USA.

    Flurzinho,
I’m not sure if Mitro will be fit, that should be a cracking game if both Mitro and Vlahovic are starting together, I don’t think that one will remain scoreless.

Will Brazil field the aging Silva? Mitro could destroy him, if he stays on the pitch that is!

    …more ‘debt’ ‘buyouts'(?)… For manu/lfc.
They could try and achieve ‘new everton’ status!?!

    How much they gonna cost?
    Who’s gonna stump up?
    How?
    Debt/leverage?
    Nice!

Imagine all the very expensive ‘deadwood’ that needs exorcising at said clubs, too?

Eeesh! That’s gonna be some commitment!
    … just to stand still.

Better off spending small on an ‘unfashionable’ team and building… surely the leveraged clubs are pointless, money pits, now?

I would think the Qataris would struggle to sell PSG and you can’t have dual ownership in the champs League…..

Knowing them they would pit it in a cousins name or something and the FA and UEFA will let it sail through for a Man Utd or Liverpool purchase

Qatar will have to buy man utd surely? Bad news for us though, and Qatar will love having the worldwide man u brand. If so i presume Miguel Delaney and Holt will have the same level of anger they threw at us.

More likely it will be ” well if it’s good enough for nufc, why can’t mufc do it” ?

I was thinking as I was carrying out a few early chores to prep for the Leeds tickets. On the other day’s conundrum of cup or top four. Seeing as we’ve three top players with the England squad, if news filtered out that both Maddison and Bellingham would be interested in joining if we qualified for the CL, would that sway a decision if you were forced to vote?

Charlie he’ll be disgusted if Liverpool were bought by Qatar because he’ll have to stop slagging them and nyfc off.

Every single Teamtalk chat featuring him and the orange bloke prefaces nufc my saying …’ I don’t like the ownership model but they are doing well etc…”

For the record, I didn’t put that be on Costa Rica. I did however put it on Canada to beat Belgium. Apparently they didnt get the memo.

Mind you, that conundrum flies in the face of what I said about players wanting to join for the project rather than league finish. A player only joining for that would be the first to want away if for whatever reason we didn’t qualify one year.

Dubai Micky, good morning, glad your on I need expert input.

I’ve noticed on the advertising hoardings @ the WC that McDonalds are referred to as “Mickey D’s”.

Apart from the obvious ripping off of your Avatar name, is this normal in Middle East?

As I’m sure you know, everyone over here calls them “Maccy D’s”. Just interested. 🙂

Blog a bit too sweary last night.

England v USA be an I teresting contest. We defend very deep and usa will try to attack us with pace.

Can probsy see errors leading to goals. How we cope without the ball or until a goal is scored will be interesting.

I hope we don’t set up for a draw.

    Not too long to wait.

Aye, I saw the Noddy and Big Ears comment and yes,, it takes a special sort of person to come up with something like that. Such comments aren’t new with Tuff.

The WAGs (WhatsApp group) are a special sort and I can understand Tuff aspiring to be accepted as on of ’em – no bugger else’d want owt to do with him.
