The striker took a heavy challenge from Iran’s Morteza Pouraliganji but was able to soldier on. England boss Gareth Southgate ultimately withdrew the Spurs star in the 76th minute for Callum Wilson, who provided an assist for Jack Grealish in the 90th minute.
After the match, Southgate proclaimed Kane seemed fine saying:
“I think Harry’s fine. It looked like a bad tackle but he carried on in the game. We took him off because we felt it was a moment in the game we could do that.”
However, it has now emerged that he will undergo a scan to verify any damage to his ankle. If Kane needs a scan, that throws his availability for Friday’s bout with the United States into doubt.
Wilson along with Southgate’s starting eleven were rested for Tuesday’s training session. Reports revealed that Callum is on a different program due to his injury history.
If Kane misses out on Friday, Wilson could get the nod against the USA. Wilson made his debut, in which he scored, against the Americans in November of 2018.
