Lucas de Bolle has still made just one appearance for Hamilton during his loan spell. The midfielder continues to suffer from blurred vision after sustaining a concussion with the Newcastle U21s before his loan move in August.
The symptoms cleared up allowing for his debut against Queens Park on September 17th. De Bolle came on as a second-half substitute for a 20-minute run-out in the 2-0 defeat.
The 20-year-old then linked up with the Scotland U21s for the September international break. It was during this period that Lucas’s blurred vision returned. He hasn’t been available for Hamilton since.
Things were looking up late last month as De Bolle was reportedly close to a return to training. However, he’s gone to see a specialist in London this week according to a report in The Daily Record. Thankfully, a recent scan has not revealed any serious issues.
Accies boss John Rankin provided the following on de Bolle’s scan:
“Lucas got an MRI scan on Tuesday. It is something with his vestibula system and the ear sending messages to the brain. That is the explanation I have.
“He is a lot more comfortable with that now than he was before.
“Hopefully he is not too far away. He had to go to London to get the MRI and see a physio who specializes in this sort of thing.
“As far as we are aware Lucas’ scan was clear and he was back at Newcastle on Wednesday morning.
“So, hopefully, he can progress from there and be back involved very soon.
“He’s not trained in a while so he will still be a wee bit away in terms of fitness.”
This situation has turned into a nightmare for the young midfielder. His lingering concussion symptoms has kept him off the pitch for basically three months now. Hopefully, with the scan coming back clear, Lucas is on the road to a full recovery.

Comment #83JohnJ – I was posting back in 2008 and possibly before – I was under the name Steve in those days but created a new profile at some stage as I used an email I no longer owned to register and couldn’t update profile or summit like that – still talked shite then though 😀
steve Jun 6, 2008 at 11:37 AM Comment #42I wouldnt be surprised if we end up offloading Oba – KK keeps going on about a “unique” player but he’s never actually came out and backed him, I think he’d prefer someone like Crouch / Gudjohnson who are more likely to form an Owen partnership and gives him options to play a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 Personally I think Oba’s great and reckon getting rid would be a huge mistake.
Also made one of the early banners for Ed back then
You’re right, not many posters have hung around but there was definitely more football chat then and less ‘banta’ ;D

Comment #85TCPN – if you bypass the typical racist press and look for the genuine facts on immigration, you’ll learn that there’s a lot more to it than certain sides are telling you. There was an article recently on the BBC about an Albanian man who came into the country illegally and he explained his motivations and what happened to him. He was deported by the way.
Here’s a few things for you to research and validate if you’re so inclined to learn:
– there are currently no schemes for people to apply for asylum in the UK unless they are from Iraq, Afghanistan, or Ukraine while outside of the UK
– The level of asylum seekers coming to the UK is smaller than many European countries (including Germany and Sweden for example)
– the reason many want to come to the UK is either language or because they have relatives here already
– men are more likely to take the riskier methods to get to the UK for obvious reasons. Some are single, others want to establish themselves in the UK before bringing their wife and/or children over
– most single men get refused asylum and are deported
– there is a huge backlog in processing claims for asylum and people could be processed and deported MUCH quicker if the government got their act together but they prefer the anti-immigrant press because it plays to their base
Illegal immigration is obviously an issue for most countries because it costs money to figure out who is a valid asylum seeker and who is just an economic migrant. I do think it’s disgusting that the latter are vilified though as they are just people taking big risks (financially and physically) to make a better life for themselves. I can’t blame them for trying.
The above is just broadly what I know about the topic. But please do the research yourself to learn the genuine facts rather than what the Daily Mail (and its like) want to tell you. As I’ve said, I see the both sides of this but you’ve got to learn both sides to understand them.

Comment #88“The current WSL attendance record of 38,262 was set in November 2019 by Tottenham when they played Arsenal in the North London Derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium”
That’s just been beaten with 47K at the Emirates in the same fixture, we’re not in the WSL though.

Comment #91No problem with genuine refugees, ie families fleeing from war torn countries. However, there are no women and children on the boats, just mainly young men from Albania who are recruited for drug running and trafficking. Albania is not at war.

Comment #94Last year our nett migration was over 500,000.
Add that figure to our own population increase then add approx 45,000 illegals and ask yourself, whose paying for their health care, their education , their housing and at a time when energy supply is limited, their gas and electric.
We don’t have the resources to absorb an increase in population of close to a million extra people in just 1 year. Why do you think over 700 x hotels Nationally are now housing “refugees”. The cost is over £100m just for legal aid, and the hotels are running at over £7m per day. Your taxes are paying for this, instead of improving healthcare access or education for your kids. If you’re OK with that.. fair enough.
And before you all jump on me, I have no problem whatsoever with real refugees seeking asylum who get here through any of the safe, approved methods. I object to the ones who can afford to pay people smugglers vast amounts to get them here illegally.

Comment #95Raj I was just going based on this and the chronicle at the time when we got 22k:
“Newcastle United Women are set to make history once again at St James’ Park after more than 25,000 tickets were sold for this weekend’s FA Cup tie against Barnsley.
The Lady Magpies, as a result, will be backed by an even bigger following than when they set a record for the largest crowd for a women’s league match in England last season in their first ever game at St James’. More than 22,000 fans cheered on Becky Langley’s side during that 4-0 win against Alnwick Town Ladies – kick-off even had to be delayed because of the queues outside – but Sunday’s game will see a new record attendance set for a women’s match at St James’.”
Based on the stats you posted I assume that they mean the 22k was the highest attendance in Womens football last season and that this will beat that and become the highest attendance at SJP for a Womens game (so a bunch of misleading crap basically)
Still good to see the Ladies team get a good turn out and the opportunity to play at SJP.

It would have definitely been the highest attendance outside the WSL and aye, maybe it was the record that year as there’s no way Spurs and Arsenal get those attendances regularly.

Comment #98cleveleysbob – please read my post at the top of this page and (as they say) do your own research. There aren’t “safe, approved methods”, that’s one of the problems.
For example, read this and watch the video: https://www.politicshome.com/news/article/home-secretary-suella-braverman-safe-legal-route-migrant-uk
And I did say it was only broadly correct earlier. It was Syria as well as Afghanistan and Ukraine, not Iraq.

Comment #117Darnik – read my post at the top of this page 3 for some reasons mate and look it up yourself. It’s a total myth that we provide more for asylum seekers than other countries too. They’re actually treated much better in other countries, who all have benefits and healthcare. But language and having relatives here are 2 of the key reasons that people want to come. But more go to countries like Germany. Just read my post, look it up yourself and don’t believe what the Daily Mail says.
This f**king government have been supporting blaming immigrants for years as it deflects from their own screw ups. That’s why they don’t want to rush to deport people, it suits them.
