Young Magpie Sees Specialist As Concussion Symptoms Continue

Lucas de Bolle has still made just one appearance for Hamilton during his loan spell. The midfielder continues to suffer from blurred vision after sustaining a concussion with the Newcastle U21s before his loan move in August.

The symptoms cleared up allowing for his debut against Queens Park on September 17th. De Bolle came on as a second-half substitute for a 20-minute run-out in the 2-0 defeat.

The 20-year-old then linked up with the Scotland U21s for the September international break. It was during this period that Lucas’s blurred vision returned. He hasn’t been available for Hamilton since.

Things were looking up late last month as De Bolle was reportedly close to a return to training. However, he’s gone to see a specialist in London this week according to a report in The Daily Record. Thankfully, a recent scan has not revealed any serious issues.

Accies boss John Rankin provided the following on de Bolle’s scan:

“Lucas got an MRI scan on Tuesday. It is something with his vestibula system and the ear sending messages to the brain. That is the explanation I have.

“He is a lot more comfortable with that now than he was before.

“Hopefully he is not too far away. He had to go to London to get the MRI and see a physio who specializes in this sort of thing.

“As far as we are aware Lucas’ scan was clear and he was back at Newcastle on Wednesday morning.

“So, hopefully, he can progress from there and be back involved very soon.

“He’s not trained in a while so he will still be a wee bit away in terms of fitness.”

This situation has turned into a nightmare for the young midfielder. His lingering concussion symptoms has kept him off the pitch for basically three months now. Hopefully, with the scan coming back clear, Lucas is on the road to a full recovery.

    Regan,

At 10M Thuram is well worth a punt.
Nice and pacy, good finisher, probably will not be a starter but canny backup for Wilson.

Raj I agree but somehow the conversation always moves to politics and the like. I realize that we have no games right now but a little more football banter would be nice. Maybe we could talk about the city and area. Some of the history etc.

    Ottawa,

Just ignore that stuff and talk about football and the things you like.
I will always bypass politics /religion.
But music, films and books are always good to talk about.

Also does anyone find it hilarious that we are being linked with Ronaldo?? Last year Bruce couldn’t even sign Chohudry from Leicester hahahaja

I think when Isak is fully fit he will score goals for fun effectively being our version of Ronaldo

    Regan,

Not far off,I played right back for my team, but I could play with both feet.
Tackled with my right because I played right side.
Usually shot or passed with my left(not much shooting from right back).

I think Ronaldo will either go Saudi or America, those saying back to Real, dont think he can because of his tax dealings in Spain

    ottawageordie2,
It’s a bloody nightmare, I know people stray off the path but it’s easily cut short. TDSarf was one of the ones campaigning for a CoC but can’t bloody stick by it’s rules. He knows fine well if he starts a 200 word reply it’s going to go on all night, he knows it’s not cricket but deliberately starts up on whatever subject he feels most righteous on at the time.

This is the key issue..so often people post football related topics, but the responses are minimal most of the time. Once it gets into politics (for example), or some wierd historic vendetta vs some other poster and the concept that people work together to drive someone away is when it gets a bit odd.

As someone who often observes others forums before NUFC play them or when something significant happens at a PL team (for sale etc) I can at least say it is a widespread issue that is not limited to this blog.

I preferred the blog in 2008 , less posters but more succinct chat and only about toon related football matters , we were a small group of posters in those days , no ‘banta’ and generally nice people… blog still has good people but also people.who aren’t really interested in football but prefer to take some random side and slag of others … really don’t see the point of that

Raj – that’s hardly fair. I don’t start off these topics at all. I just can’t stand to see certain things posted without challenge. Really, I’d rather they weren’t posted in the first place.

DrGloom has a point that once I start the reply, it can turn out to be rather lengthy…it’s because I’m trying to be fair and balanced rather than just take the opposite standpoint.

I have started football topics and there’s barely any engagement. People just want to talk about whatever interests them at the time. And I agree with the earlier comment, if there’s an interesting topic you want to talk about then start it! Don’t come on here waiting for others to start a conversation that interests you.

Before tonight, I didn’t think much of Fred, Anthony and Richarlson from what I’ve seen in PL games. However (and I only saw the last 35mins) They look much much better playing for Brazil.

If they can play like this, they (a) don’t need our Bruno and (b) are the team to beat.

They restricted Serbia (a pretty decent team) to only 3 or 4 shots all game and none on target. Not bad stats for a ā€œbad defenceā€. šŸ™‚

Gloom – was watching the Brazil game – hoping Bruno would get on. Not convinced of the team in midfield – thought after 2 -0 lead they would bring him on. Not swayed at all by Paqueta.

West Ham fans I know think Paqueta is decent although 60 million decent is somewhat debatable, needs to be in a different team to west ham because they don’t have enough good players and he isn’t he can’t do it on his own …EH clearly saw this in my opinion , if we wanted him he would have been here .. personally think he’s a 20 to 30 million player at best ( at today’s rates )

I find it’s better to state your point of view (on whatever subject) but don’t engage beyond that.

Sometimes it’s important to state your position (like getting something off your chest). However, if you then engage in the backwards and forwards stuff afterwards, that’s where the arguments arise and escalate.

I’m as guilty as anyone in bringing other subjects onto the blog, but I’ve learned my lesson regarding engaging further, particularly if the subject is ā€œcontroversialā€.

TDS is unfortunately like a dog with a bone, and can’t bring himself to walk away no matter how wrong (or right) his views may be. A lesson to learn perhaps? šŸ™‚

Watch out for the response. šŸ˜€

Why get deep into politics? Here is why.. Taco policy:

    1. The UK should have kept Australia as a prison Island. All serious criminals get sent there for life.
    2. Given its size other countries can pay the UK to send their serious convicts there.
    3. This helps with the cost of the patrol boats that ensure no one ever leaves.
    3. Prisoners are told that if they mine enough gold or other valuable resources they can buy their way back into civilization. This would be a lie of course.
    4. If there is anyone useful that normal society wants we send Snake Plissken in to rescue them.

We can watch it on TV too…

Mr T/DrG. I have to agree on Paqueta, he looked a bit lost in the bits I watched.

He’s clearly a decent player (most Brazilians are) but maybe not a Ā£60M one.

I think WestHam got suckered in by thinking we were after him and paid top dollar just to keep us at bay, not realising we weren’t interested. šŸ˜†

And I like talking to you, just not perhaps to the limits you sometime take things. šŸ˜‰
