Newcastle Defender Gets Another World Cup Start As England Face The USA

As suspected, Gareth Southgate has named an unchanged eleven for England’s Group B clash against The United States. Harry Kane is fine to start with Callum Wilson available from the bench.

Kieran Trippier will get his 39th cap for England as he keeps his place at right-back. The 32-year-old has been sensational this season for Newcastle and was very good in the 6-2 win over Iran.

For the USA, manager Gregg Berhalter has made just one change with Haji Wright on for Norwich striker Josh Sargent. Wright came on for Sargent in the 1-1 draw against Wales. The 24-year-old has 9 goals this season for Turkey’s Antalyaspor.

England are heavy favorites to pick up their second win after downing Iran 6-2 on Monday. The United States only managed a draw against Wales, who were defeated 2-0 by Iran earlier today.

I’m sorry I just couldn’t watch the second half, this is why I stopped watching England, it made me ill, but fir some reason was really looking forward to tonight thinking they would at least have a go, but no, just reverted to negative slow backwards football, and that was the tactics, who the hell would use those tactics
They always let the fans down.

I hope you will not meet Ecuador in the next round, cause south american teams are excellents when playing on a false rythm.

So if you play like that against them, they will just put you to sleep and manage to win the game with a cheap goal or something else…

I’ve heard loads of people getting carried away since Monday.

We were poor tonight, but USA played the game of their lives. These types of teams always raise their game against England.

I remember being as woeful against Scotland at the euros.

I’m not getting carried away either way.

Not to worry carltoon, I watched the match in an old barn conversion where you have to step over several dogs to get to the bar. The glow of the raging open fire was much more attractive than the footie!

I was watching the 2nd half at The Crescent Club and I turned to my friends and said “you know what! This is just like watching a Steve Bruce team of not so long ago”

    It was awful!

USA played well but we were definitely not at our best but we should still win the group. I’d rather we play our poor game now than in the knockout stages.

    Agee.

We played awful in the group stages in italia 90, euro 96 we drew against Switzerland then got lucky against Scotland, euro 2020 we were awful against Scotland again.

    Let’s not get carried away.

Well, you still have a good team and excellent players for sure, but i’m concerned about such a tactical mistake.

If it happened one time, could happen again.

    More drivel than Officer Drivel
If he wants more zip speak to Mr Raman on the West Road he ‘repairs zips on the trousers’ (way before most people’s time on here)

Southgate accepted some concerns: “We lacked a little bit of zip and quality in the final third, and we weren’t able to open up, to create really good chances.

And no to Pulisic joining us , that seems a bad idea and hacks trying to solve Chelseas problem by creating a non story. No to rejects from the slimy six would seem to be the best policy. Son perhaps the exception if he wants to move his career forward.

Bit late on this idea.it started here in the EPL with Lee Mason and co.

The Premier League will not follow Fifa’s ultra-strict approach to injury-time, which has seen a number of matches last more than 100 minutes, when the league resumes after the World Cup. (Mail)

Oh well, the fickle fickle world of the football fan. On Monday we looked like the best team in the world and Southgate must have took lessons from Eddie H. A disappointing result and we are ‘dogshit” and GS is the recreation of Beelzebub himself 😕

On time wasting (no, I’m not talking about my job 😀 ) the scousers, who now know that can’t throw the deluded tag at us anymore, are calling us time wasters, it must really pain them knowing we are on the up and up and will soon be making that top four a real bear pit.

It’s a shame because the record for the most concescutive posts on the fourth Saturday in November is a paltry eleven. I haven’t got my book with me so couldn’t tell you the posters name, but I can tell you in was in 2013. Unfortunately I won’t get that today as I need to go and get a PTW.

The easiest way to get to the last comment, is to submit a post.

IMO England are still leading the group, but some of the players look low on stamina due to the quick succession of matches and the extended extra time. Last nights match was not entirely a disaster.

If Southgate is working his way back through the tactical plans of nufc managers, in the next match he will set up with Rafa’s five at the back. Which may allow the less defensive Trent to be used at RWB.

It most certainly wasn’t a disaster last night, what it was, was a stark reality check and the kick up the ar$e that was probably needed that tells us we’re not better than everyone else by simy turning up. If that was Brazil last night we’d have been three nil down at half time. The real big downside to last night is that we can’t really afford to play our second eleven now, but after last night’s show it might be a good idea to play them.

We won’t win anything here, not with our woke Chief and players taking the knee, wanting to wear rainbows on the arms. They should concentrate on football, any discussion about taking the knee or anything else that is not football related should not be entertained. They new the right thing to do if they want to make a statement was stay home.

FIFA AND OUR FA ARE VERY CORRUPT.

Jail, are you saying it wasn’t s disaster last night because we played like Rafa likes to play? Last night was shocking, all we did was pass it side ways along our defense, Kane was dropping so deep to often and it took way to long to make subs.
Like i said it could have been Rafa pulling the strings

    Bonjour Mesdames et Messieurs!

    @Not another De Jong

As i said yesterday, don’t think it was a lack of stamina or players were tired. Just my opinion, but for me, was purely tactical and a bad approach of the game.

    @catchy in norway

Well you know, there’s plenty of example of teams playing far better due to extra motivation based on political background…

It’s a double edge sword, heavy political context could totaly overwhelm you ( as we seen with Iran in the first game ), but in many other cases, it could also result in a team going berserck and players having the game of their life.

Taking the knee and all that crap. Should have had a secret ballot amongst the players to see what they REALLY wanted -and not what OTHERS wanted them to do.
People behind taking the knee have nicked a lot of the donated money to enrich themselves. All corrupt.

Players will not openly speak out about this as certain people will jump on them and call them racist etc etc.

    catchy,
Firstly, I don’t know where to start with that. What in the bloody name of jeezus, mary and josef, did that have to do with Rafa benitez last night, it was a very poor display from the same team that looked excellent and so composed just four days ago. A disaster would have been losing and playing a winner takes all crunch match against Wales, as it turns out we’re in pole position to go through as group leaders, it may well be a blessing in disquise and the kick up the ar$e the team and manager needed.
