Newcastle Battling Two Clubs For Versatile Brazilian Wonderkid – Report

Newcastle have been linked with a plethora of talented youngsters over the past few months. The majority of them hail from talent-rich Brazil. Yet another name has emerged as a potential target in Flamengo teenager Matheus Franca.

Brazilian outlet TNT Sports has named the Magpies along with Crystal Palace and Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen as the lead chasers for the versatile youngster. Franca can play in the midfield, on either wing, or as a center-forward though is primarily a playmaker.

Franca made 23 appearances last term for Flamengo scoring 6 goals. While he made a few appearances last season, he became a regular in the first team in September making 13 consecutive league appearances.

Franca’s name has hit the headlines as an emerging talent for a few years now. The 18-year-old was heavily linked with Real Madrid last year while Manchester City’s interest has also been reported.

Flamengo were quick to tie their prized asset down once top clubs began circling. He signed his current contract, which has a release clause that exceeds £80m, when he turned 17.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that negotiations from two unnamed Premier League clubs have begun but are not yet advanced. The fee being discussed is in the £15-20m range.

Newcastle are also reported to be in discussions for Vasco da Gama’s Andrey Santos and Velez Sarsfield’s Maximo Perrone. They are both deep-lying midfielders while Franca is more of attacking player.

Hopefully, a breakthrough can be found for at least one of these talented youngsters can be reached before the winter window opens. Newcastle have already added young Australian Garang Kuol for January.

Kuol starts on the bench today as Australia takes on Tunisia in a critical Group D battle. The Aussies lost to France in their opening match while Tunisia battled Denmark to a surprising scoreless draw.

you could tell this was their tactic by how they slowed the game down from the off. Stones and Maguire passed back and forth even more than usual.

    Poland v Saudi i’m torn.

Poland is a great country and have helped Ukraine tremendously.
Saudi is a repressive country but own NUFC and did brilliantly as underdogs against Argentina.

    Gareth’s pre-match team talk last night…

Right lads, we’re gonna be absolutely shite tonight and scrape a point. Expectations back home are running amok and we need to get the country’s feet back on the ground. Now get out there and be as uninspiring as you can!

    😆

Probably useful for England to have a crap game and get it out of the system early?

Ecuador and Netherlands play before England on Tuesday so England will know whether to win lose or draw against Wales.

Not sure if anyone else is watching the KSA v Poland game where KSA have a great support there. Funny thing is there are stunning blonde haired models in KSA colours with the Saudi flag draped around them. Definitely weren’t from KSA. Then the camera panned to bunch of woman with hijab‘s covering their faces, they were definitely from KSA. Glad that blonde lady didn’t wear a hijab she was a stunner lol

if England need to lose against Wales to come second in the group to ensure they play an easier team in the next round they may have to play even worse.

    tcpn,
For me what sums it up, Harry Maguire was the best pick out of eleven last night, only him and Pickford you couldn’t apportion any blame. Hopefully good will come from it and it’ll be a massive wake up call.

I’m sure Rafa played Miggy correctly in that 3 with Perez and Rondon. Bit of an excellent run in that season I’m sure occurred.
But let’s cancel that and drive an ulterior narrative.
Good auld Stato from Norvege 😆

    Jane,

I hate that approach to deliberately throw a game to get an easier game next up. That puts negativity into the players. In a finals play to win EVERY game as it gets the rhythm going.

For example you would never see Brazil or Spain do that in this WC they will look to win every game as they have a winning mentality. Playing to lose are not winners and will eventually be beaten. So what’s the point

Rafa or Bruce don’t come close to Eddie Howe as a coach…

    That’s the difference.

agreed, the thing ive got with pickford is he prances about out side his box and i hate keepers doing that, plus his antics when someones even scored or was a close miss he really irritates the shit out of me

they say 120 million for rice i wouldnt pay them 20 for him hes way way over rated, id have rushford and wilson in v wales

the fa best start looking for a new boss cos i reckon southgates time is over and lets hope they dont direct there attention to wor eddie and his coaches

    Tfb,
He started 9 games under Rafa, we won five of them, drew one and lost three, his injury against Soton was a devastating blow a couple of games before facing Lpool, he was playing excellently.

    Mund,

Eddie Howe has the potential to be the GOAT of managers to grace the EPL. He could eclipse Fergie, Pep and the man himself SBR.

He is young has it all and now with a structure above him that will ensure he is provided with all the right tools to finish the job. What Eddie has achieved so far you have to think could Pep or a Fergie have got NUFC to safety last season under them circumstances. With the vast majority of the same squad that couldn’t buy a win. Remarkable manager and is put money on him being the GOAT in time. I hope he is with NUFC 10+ years
