Newcastle’s Second Pre-Season Should Ramp Up Soon

Five Magpies are away at the World Cup while the remaining squad should be getting close to a return to training. The squad sans Bruno Guimaraes, Fabian Schar, Callum Wilson, Nick Pope, and Kieran Trippier will be ramping up their preparations for the second half of the season in short order.

Newcastle are just one week away from jetting off to Riyadh for a warm-weather training camp. The week-long trip culminates with a friendly against Saudi Pro League’s Al-Hilal on December 8th before the lads return on the 10th.

There is will be one more friendly with Florian Lejeune and La Liga’s Elche coming to St. James’ Park on the 17th. That friendly is scheduled only a few days before competitive matches resume with the Carabao Cup Fourth Round against Bournemouth on the 21st of December.

Before all that, Newcastle will find out their FA Cup opponent tomorrow when the draw for the third round will be held. The Magpies are ball number 27 out of 64 as the second round gets completed today.

Speaking of the FA Cup, Newcastle’s Women have advanced in the Women’s FA Cup defeating Barnsley 2-1 at St. James’ Park. The attendance for the cup tie was 28,565 which is the highest attendance for a non-final in the competition.

The Lady Mags came from 1-0 behind to get the comeback win with second-half goals from Georgia Gibson and Sharna Wilkinson. The NUFC Women continue their fine form and are currently second in the Women’s National League North just 1 point behind Durham Cestria.

I’ve just watched Amanda’s pre-match talk to the Newcastle women. It brought a tear to my eye. Long may she remain with us.

France fans barely noticed the existence of Graham Souness until yesterday and his “kind” words about Olivier Giroud…

Needless to say, it was not much appreciated on this side of the channel.

    CLINT FLICK,

John Herdman for England hmmm interesting one that. Tell you what im watching the Canada v Croatia game and he has done wonder with the Canadian team. I like the way he sets his team up, actually very Eddie Howe-Esk. I like his passion, a Geordie Toon Supporter from Consett. Who has studied and idolised SBR closely.

Although im watching Canada getting beat 3:1 (unlucky Ottawa lad, your lads have done you proud mind)… The Canadian team have still done fantastic with their tenacity. They have some great players but don’t have that cutting edge unfortunately.

John Herdman couldn’t be any worse than the energy sapping Southgate England very unfortunately have at the moment that’s for sure.
