Five Magpies are away at the World Cup while the remaining squad should be getting close to a return to training. The squad sans Bruno Guimaraes, Fabian Schar, Callum Wilson, Nick Pope, and Kieran Trippier will be ramping up their preparations for the second half of the season in short order.
Newcastle are just one week away from jetting off to Riyadh for a warm-weather training camp. The week-long trip culminates with a friendly against Saudi Pro League’s Al-Hilal on December 8th before the lads return on the 10th.
There is will be one more friendly with Florian Lejeune and La Liga’s Elche coming to St. James’ Park on the 17th. That friendly is scheduled only a few days before competitive matches resume with the Carabao Cup Fourth Round against Bournemouth on the 21st of December.
Before all that, Newcastle will find out their FA Cup opponent tomorrow when the draw for the third round will be held. The Magpies are ball number 27 out of 64 as the second round gets completed today.
Speaking of the FA Cup, Newcastle’s Women have advanced in the Women’s FA Cup defeating Barnsley 2-1 at St. James’ Park. The attendance for the cup tie was 28,565 which is the highest attendance for a non-final in the competition.
2?8?,5?6?5?
A @VitalityWFACup attendance record outside of a final – thank you for your magnificent support at St. James' Park!

The Lady Mags came from 1-0 behind to get the comeback win with second-half goals from Georgia Gibson and Sharna Wilkinson. The NUFC Women continue their fine form and are currently second in the Women’s National League North just 1 point behind Durham Cestria.

Comment #41I thought brigante was Al Pachinos character in Carlitos Way!!
On Herdman I can’t see why he should not at least be considered. Especially if the plan is to have an English Manager as there are not many decent ones about.
Also Herdman is more experienced than Southgate was when he was given the job. He has 12 years experience managing New Zealand and Canada ladies, prior to taking over the men’s team in 2018.
When Southgate was appointed this was after 3 years at Middlesbrough culminating in their relegation then 4 years doing nowt followed by 3 year with the England U21s.
Not sure experience should be a big factor though, if experience is what is required why not get Bruce? he has bags of experience!

If you can afford it just get the hospitality package, you’ve got a lottery winning chance of getting one on general sale, nobody even knows how many there are up for sale.

Comment #51A little more on the fine win
Newcastle United set a new Women’s FA Cup attendance record as they came from behind to beat Barnsley in the second round at St James’ Park.
The crowd of 28,565 marked the tournament’s highest attendance outside of a final.
After Emily Pierrepont opened the scoring for Barnsley inside 15 minutes, Georgia Gibson equalised with a 30-yard strike midway through the second half.
Minutes later, Sharna Wilkinson scored the winner with a long-range effort.

Comment #55I see Klinsmann has said he has came out and said his comment re it’s part of Irans Culture surrounding the referee was taken out of context and it was meant that it was the players coming off the bench being overly passionate and said they may have took it wrong as he has been an ex USA coach.
Clever response to get out of that one. He (Klinsmann) has provided an answer to put it to bed IMO. Fair play for him to provide an answer to Lineker’s questions on the quote taken out of context. But it does go to prove you really need to watch and be so very careful as to what you say in the as very PC days we are living in. Anything and everything seems to be jumped on. Personally I don’t think it’s in Klinsmann’s nature to insult. He is a likeable guy. But he will learn from this

Comment #58Right, before kick off. Has everyone absorbed RADAR 101 and learnt the equations? RADAR 102 slightly more difficult. The Puglet’s basic ability to keep close to the ground means he has never been hit by a cruise missile.

Just caught up on the blog and see you’ve mentioned there is a huge Moroccan presence in Paris. There is also a very large Moroccan presence in Marseille also…
I’ve traveled all over Europe with NUFC in the good old days and when we played Olympique de Marseille in the 2004 Europa Cup Semi Final at the Velodrome. It was absolutely crazy. There were so many North Africans from Morocco, Tunisia fighting with us. They all had knives and it was thee most dangerous place I’ve been in my life. Won’t go into too much but it got that bad I thought my life was at risk. If it were not for that there was a good 150+ of us we’d have been in serious trouble.
Would also say the Marseille fans created one of the loudest atmospheres I’ve heard. With our end joining in with the singing 5000 strong what an atmosphere it was you couldn’t even here yourself speak.
Their fans may be notorious in France I’d imagine from what I witnessed.

Shearer is a top class commentator. He used to do a bit when he was still playing and he was excellent. He is quality when he works on Amazon’s coverage too.

Aye, charlie brigante us Al’s name in carlito’s way, great movie.
In latin/Italian/roman Brigante means ‘outlaw’. Sometimes seen as ‘hill dwellers’.
But when you asked an Italian friend, they just looked me in the eye and said: Outlaw!

Will you give it a rest you sad sad man. We were all over there to enjoy ourselves and watch NUFC in a semi final not look for a fight, we were all in good spirits… They came at us from nowhere mainly with knives…Do you know what son, I have never come across anything as pathetic as you in all my life.
Your nothing but a keyboard warrior that wouldn’t act in such a way to all the good English people you’ve abused on here. The way you talk on here just shows me what a coward you are. You really are a pathetic scumbag!!!

Comment #78Not sure about anyone else on here but I’ve truly had my fill with the coward from Munster persistently slandering the English.
He has a serious issue with anyone that has served Queen/King and country in the Armed Forces, constantly looks down on the English. Who the hell does he think he is. Does he think Ireland with their history is all innocent (we all know they’re far from it)…. How can this continue on an NUFC blog? We are mainly English and he continues to goad our heritage, and everything we stand for.
Why is he getting away with it?
If there was anyone I’d like to meet face to face away from this blog is this coward from Ireland. Let’s see how anti English he would be then? He’d be a creep and grovel…That’s what he is a creepy grovelling weirdo of a man.
