Multiple Journalists State New Academy Appointment Is Done Deal

The confirmation of Paul Midgley as the new Head of Youth Recruitment could be imminent. Both Craig Hope and Fabrizio Romano, who broke the news over the weekend are stating that Midgley’s move to Newcastle is a done deal.

Midgley held a similar position with Leeds prior to his arrival at Manchester City as a northern regional scout in August. At Leeds, he was responsible for the recruitment of players aged 12 to 16.

Judging by the young talent at Elland Road, Midgley could be a monumental appointment for Newcastle United. The club are determined to add quality to the Academy with a number of teenagers linked with January moves.

Australian international Garang Kuol will join in January after his signing was confirmed during the September international break. Kuol has been outstanding for Central Coast Mariners as he eyes another opportunity with Australia in their final group match against Denmark on Wednesday.

Yesterday, The NUFC Women defeated the Barnsely Women 2-1 in a second-half comeback in the Women’s FA Cup. The highlights of the cup win can be seen in the YouTube video below.

Taco – except he’s a striker. Older strikers have sometimes got their first cap later in age but it’s not often that a defender does. Plus, I think he got his first cap last month? Agreed that he’s definitely a later bolter but it makes sense to select a bit of an unknown quality as a striker but doubt you’d see it often at centre half.

They nearly had a goal, from Bruno losing the ball again.

I’m sure he will be fine once he gets into the rhythm of the game.

TDS; it’s formulaic, playing by the numbers. If Burn was 25 would he go? Who knows?
I remember Toto Schillachi getting selected for Italy in 1990, from obscurity, winning the golden boot and player of the tournament.
He then slipped back in to obscurity after the tournament.

Fair point TDs, I was just pointing out it does happen. Personally I was surprised Germany didn’t give Moukoko a game, he looks electric.

I was changing a light fitting once and accidentally left the leccy on. It blew me off the steps. As I was lying prone on the floor, my wife just stepped over me and remarked ‘Stupid Twat’ 🙂

Novo – I’d say if Burn was 25 then he would have gone. Because even if he barely played, that experience would be fantastic for him for the next several international tournaments.

Again, I think it’s different for strikers than for central defenders.

Regan, I’d spent half an hour trying to secure the wires into the little holes, but with only one eye it wasn’t going to plan so I’d been up and down the stairs to the fuse box switching on and off and obviously lost track of whether it was on or off. My bad, but the sympathy from her was overwhelming 🙂

I have electrocuted myself several times. Best one is to charge up a big capacitor and pass it to someone. DC is a lot more painful. Nobody falls for that trick twice 🙂

I tell you what I found incredible when someone was talking about Belgium having a good team, well both of their centre halves who started yesterday play in the Belgian League and the striker plays in Turkey. Belgium do not have a good team.
