Report Claims Chelsea Will Beat Newcastle In Wonderkid Race

Over the weekend, it was reported that Newcastle have identified Vasco da Gama midfielder Andrey Santos as the top target for the winter window. The Northern Echo claimed the Magpies were set to make their move after months of links to the playmaker.

However, Sport Witness is citing a report from France’s Le10Sport that Santos is close to committing to Chelsea, who seem to have come out of the blue for the talented teen. Barcelona was Newcastle’s closest competitor according to recent reports.

The French outlet’s angle on their report is that Chelsea have edged not only Newcastle and Barcelona but also PSG for Santos. There is some discrepancy in the reporting as the price quoted is just €15m which is around half of his previously reported valuation.

If this report is accurate, with considerable emphasis on the ‘if’, Newcastle have other budding stars on the shortlist. There are continual reports that Velez Sarsfield playmaker Maximo Perrone is high on the wishlist.

The Argentine club’s sporting director is none other than former Magpie Christian Bassedas, who roamed the midfield at St. James’ Park in the early 2000s. Newcastle World recently reported that Bassedas was on Tyneside to tie up a deal for Perrone. Though the claim arose from a podcast in Argentina.

Whether it’s Santos, Perrone, or another young gem, Newcastle are determined to add youthful quality to the ranks in January. Garang Kuol’s move becomes official while links to right-backs Harrison Ashby and Cody Drameh refuse to dry up.

Which Would You Prefer Newcastle Achieve This Season?

“we just do not need to be neaten by 4 goals”

England will want to win to top the group.

Magic, Easy for you to say, but if Toon vs Sunderland on one channel and Molesey vs Hampton on the other, which one would you watch? (BTW Molesey play in Black and White Stripes)

Jane, I fully believe we will win this game, but Group A …What can I say. We still end up vs France in last 16 regardless

Why Kane is playing tonight is beyond me. Give him a bit of rest. Put CW on. Is Southgate a poor man’s Bruce?

    Southgate is just soo dumb.

Half the country tried to convince him to rest kane, and give Wilson a shot, somone who will deputise perfectly.

Keeping kane 100% is the key, and Wilson as a byproduct gets to show what he’s made of.

But no he blew it. Its too late to rest him after tonight. All knock out from here on out after tonight. He could have even played Pope to keep him sharp, even if neither play another minute after tonight, it’s just common sense.

I feel bad for ye lads who support England. Doesn’t even matter if ye win well and kane gets a hatrick tonight, the point is Southgate doesn’t seem to be taking the smart options.

    Assassins

It seems there are a few relative newcomers to this blog who seem to object to posters who’ve been commenting for a long time before you and others rocked up.

My view, and it’s only mine, is if relative newcomers don’t like it, why not set up a blog of your own.

I am not entierly convinced Southgate has any nuts to kick Assassins. Ballsy is not a word I would use to describe him. Although I often look at his teamsheet and think “bollox”

He is a bit weird. And clearly thinks he’s head of the communist party on here who have rules on what folk can have an opinion on.

Gotta say i like the welsh.

Very similar to North eastern folk. Passionate about their area and country, quite like em for it.

Probably prefer em to doylem southerners that you encounter when yer on yer hols. Much better stock than the chinless wonders from south of Watford.

Raj, I for one have never pulled Eddie’s line up apart, not once. England is a different matter but at the same time I haven’t bothered to say who I think should play tonight.

What I have said is that I am not expecting a great performance tonight.

    Sir Pug,

In my head it was Germany Vs Austria. If Germany won 1-0 both went through. Germany scored very early and both sides messed about for 85 minutes passing it in midfield without trying to attack.
