Report Claims Chelsea Will Beat Newcastle In Wonderkid Race

Over the weekend, it was reported that Newcastle have identified Vasco da Gama midfielder Andrey Santos as the top target for the winter window. The Northern Echo claimed the Magpies were set to make their move after months of links to the playmaker.

However, Sport Witness is citing a report from France’s Le10Sport that Santos is close to committing to Chelsea, who seem to have come out of the blue for the talented teen. Barcelona was Newcastle’s closest competitor according to recent reports.

The French outlet’s angle on their report is that Chelsea have edged not only Newcastle and Barcelona but also PSG for Santos. There is some discrepancy in the reporting as the price quoted is just €15m which is around half of his previously reported valuation.

If this report is accurate, with considerable emphasis on the ‘if’, Newcastle have other budding stars on the shortlist. There are continual reports that Velez Sarsfield playmaker Maximo Perrone is high on the wishlist.

The Argentine club’s sporting director is none other than former Magpie Christian Bassedas, who roamed the midfield at St. James’ Park in the early 2000s. Newcastle World recently reported that Bassedas was on Tyneside to tie up a deal for Perrone. Though the claim arose from a podcast in Argentina.

Whether it’s Santos, Perrone, or another young gem, Newcastle are determined to add youthful quality to the ranks in January. Garang Kuol’s move becomes official while links to right-backs Harrison Ashby and Cody Drameh refuse to dry up.

I somehow went from 4 clear goals to 4 clear Gaul’s and the Asterix popped up. No idea why, just how my brain processes.

Not having a pop, just chatting.

Wish so badly Wilson got 40-45mins. He probably won’t even come on but if he does you can bet it won’t be enough time for him to get into it.

Tbh Brazil trance Spain Portugal will surely be watching this and losing no sleep over this england team.

If England had been in a group with teams like Uruguay Denmark Serbia I feel they could easily have been out.

If it wasn’t for a single inch, it would be 2-0 for the USA ( goal ruled out for off side )…

    Half time.

The iranians really need to wake up.

    …and a midfielder… Madison and Cal.
    Oh! And Trippier.

I know it’s been debated on here…but even though Pulisic may not be the “world class game changer” most don’t want him here for but that goal today epitomizes the type of player he is and I think Howe would would be a great fit for him as he is such a team player and always gives 110%.

    We are utterly useless.

    Slow awful international football.

Just why. Team of player who press and love smashing teams and we sit off.

Understand why Henderson plays as he gets them at it. Just chased the back four down as the front three dossed. Mostly Kane.

Kane is washed. You heard it here first. Over.

I’d like to see Grealish or Madders come on for Rashford at HT, more realistic to hope for is Southgate telling him he’s got 15 minutes to make an impression or he’s getting hooked.

Wish that chance of Fodens (the two back heels in the build up) had of gone in,they would have talked about that for decades.

As it is that`s the USA going through although they had a few chances to increase their lead, i can see it being a tense second half specially if the USA drop deep to try and defend their lead.

Let Kane play behind a striker. He can do his link up play and stay deep as he loves doing. But then you have the benefit of someone like Wilson who will actually be on the box or making runs across the 6 yard box.

AnyToon, he would not be my first choice signing (but then I want Chiesa, Isakson etc)

I do feel that Pulisic would improve the squad though and our appeal in the USA and to an extent more widely than the USA. He would be a far better player for us than R7 (and some people give similar reasons for siging R7)

Quiet simple, France is almost sure to win is group, so if you finish second, you will be in the other half of the tournament.

So we could meet only for the final.
