Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan played host to the players and coaching staff on Monday. They gathered at Al-Rumayyan’s home and met his family. It was a chance for the players and staff to get to see the personal side of the chairman.
Eddie Howe had a chance to converse with Al-Rumayyan, who unsurprisingly thanked the head coach for the splendid job he’s done. While Al-Rumayyan is an ambitious man, not even he could have imagined how well things have progressed in just over one year.
After a miracle turnaround last season, Newcastle are perched in the top three, alive in both cup competitions, and on a six-match winning streak. There is a lot of excitement surrounding Newcastle United.
Newcastle World has published the following from Howe on his interaction with Al-Rumayyan:
“He was really, really good with us, communicated his thoughts and visions on the future. I really enjoyed spending time with him and his family. He was very welcoming and open, and I’m sure the players feel the same way.
“He was very good with them. He interacts and talks with them in a really good way.
“I think he’s very much for the team. He wants to acknowledge that and bring everyone together. He speaks really well and honestly, and I’m sure the players appreciated his words.
“It was ‘well done, but we want more, we’re very ambitious’. I think that’s what the players want to hear.”
Everyone has played their role in Newcastle’s transformation. Eddie Howe heads the list. While the chairman was full of praise, the work is only beginning. Newcastle want long-term success and the platform has been set to accomplish that but the hard work must continue.

Comment #6I see the Glaziers are getting desperate to sell Manure, and rightfully so, they will be left trailing in our wake in a few years time, with sponsorship coming into Nufc left, right and centre and with the value of the club rising month by month it`s a matter of time before PIF think
` Hmmm we have done a damn good job here and long may it continue, remember when you, Manure, offered us 20% of your club for 1B not so long ago, well look at what we got instead for relative peanuts, and look at the results now , you greedy footers. Shove your club where the sun don`t shine and let some other mug buy your sorry ass of a club` .

I see our friend Mort has seemingly disappeared, whether somebody complained or admin took a look, who knows. What was really disappointing for me, wasn’t how long he was allowed to post making references to Gary Glitter, Jimmy Saville and the EDL, but the amount of posters who completely turned a blind eye and chatted with him like he was a normal honest poster, really disappointing.

I’m not sure if those and the Fenway group are desperate to sell, I think it may be just a rous to dispel any dissent. Ashley done it for 13 years.

Correct Taco Big Bill Werbeniuk was truly one of the real characters of snooker back in the day, some of the stories about his drinking capabilitys were simply legendary, i had the pleasure of sitting at the bar with him in the Ashburn Hotel in lurgan having a few pints, although he was drinking about 5 pints quicker than the time i drank one pint 😀 He was a real sound bloke, very witty and funny, but so humble and down to earth mate.

Comment #13MIssed the bus:
In other news I have seen that apparently clubs are queuing up to loan Koul for us which is a good thing. We need a suitable home for him and the more option the club have on the table the better.
I also read at least one article suggesting that his cameos in the WC can fast track his work permit. According to the rules as I understand them that is not true and the article lacked sufficient detail to verify anything. But it did make me think that there will likely be some appeals process for work permits where we might have a case. We can say “of course he hasn’t played x% of games for club or nation he is a kid he appeared in the WC as one of the youngest players ever”
I just say this as for me if we could loan him to a championship/league 1/Scottish team that would be best to prepare him for the Prem. I still think a loan to a Portuguese or German side is more realistic though

Comment #19Raj, I think that the link to change avatar/name is deliberately broken given some people seem to have abused it. As for Mort he was clearly just a wum, whether he was indeed Jedi I am not sure and I don’t care. Pretty sure that if he was banned I will be among the top suspects of causing it in some peoples eyes, not true of course but why would the truth get in the way of a good story?
WLToon- I agree I don’t think it is fake that the Lpool owners and Man Us want to sell. They can both make money from a sale and not have to deal with the fact we will upset the applecart.the last thing they wanted was more competition! In Man Us case the whole club needs tons of investment on the stadium and infrastructure as well as the playing squad so it is a no brained for the glaziers to sell up while they can get a good price.
Magic I would love to have met “Big Bill” and let him get 20 odd pints down while I have 3 or 4 then I might have a hope if I played him!

Comment #34Great words from the chairman, would be easy to sit back and admire our achievements so far, but he’s pushing for more…now isn’t the time to sit on our laurels …I reckon we will have an exciting window as opposed to what press are reporting no doubt the owners have got ambition and I’m pretty sure our “tour sponsorship” deals will purchase a £50 mill player (madders, diaby or even Ramos lol) HWTL

Comment #37On transfers. It will be a really interesting window. We have done fantastic this season so far. Even more impressive when we have done that without 3 potential first team players for most of that time (Maxi, Shelvey, and Isak). Me personally, I think they will have players in mind and will pursue them if the right deal comes along. I imagine at least one will have already been sorted – in principle at least.
Positions to look at:
– holding mf type
– another winger, that has end-product
– a striker? This may wait till summer but Wilson is like glass!
– any young and outstanding potential players that become available, like Kuol

Comment #40I reckon we will be looking at over next few windows …. Fb both sides, another cb, midfield destroyer and no.10 another cf or winger. Have no doubt the Saudis will be ruthless to get where they want to be there will be no sentiment and Howe has already shown he can be …good thing now is every player knows they are always playing for their place at the club.
