Newcastle have made a move for one of their teenage South American targets. Fabrizio Romano is reporting that an offer approaching £14m for Flamengo wonderkid Matheus Franca has been submitted. His full tweet can be seen here.
Excl: Newcastle have submitted a new proposal for Brazilian talent Matheus França, offering €16m package to Flamengo ??????? #NUFC
Understand Matheus França is also in Olympique Lyon list — Real Madrid have sent scouts to monitor him in Brazil as well. pic.twitter.com/gc2khSYU67
— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 19, 2023
The Mail reported last month that Newcastle had entered negotiations for the 18-year-old Brazilian, who has a massive £87m release clause. He is also on the radar of some top clubs as Romano references.
Franca can play in the midfield, on either wing, or as a striker. Flamengo’s congested midfield saw Franca deployed as a center-forward quite often this past season. He ended his breakout campaign with 17 league appearances with four goals.
Newcastle missed out on a couple of midfielders with Andrey Santos heading to Chelsea and Maximo Perrone nearing a move to Manchester City. Franca could have the highest ceiling of the trio.
The pending departure of Chris Wood to Nottingham Forest could be the fallen domino that gets Newcastle’s winter window into gear. So far, they’ve been quiet with Garang Kuol joining on January 1st before moving on loan to Hearts.

Comment #9I hope we get him, we know he will be welcomed by our South American contingent and looked after.
He is a very strong lad and deceptively quick, he reminds me a bit like Kaka but he’s not scared to put his foot in. If hes half as good as Kaka then what a player.
A good type of player to be going after, snapping him up before Barca, Madrid etc show real interest.

Comment #10If this bid is true, don’t like the fact that it’s gone public in case it’s the selling club trying to stimulate interest from other clubs.

You can base your ideas on 5 year old data if you want.
If you want to use your data and extrapolate from that, fine.
I will suggest the reality will be far different,as you have not taken into account a change of circumstance.

Comment #17Flurzinho – so…you’re basically arguing with me against a point that I was neither making nor would I make because it’s not my opinion.
If you want to argue with someone about the potential of our club, go argue on a Mackem blog. I was talking about the facts of the last 5 years (most of which were under Ashley), the only single comment I made about the future was when I said “the potential is there”.
Go back and read my comments again and tell me where I said anything other than that one comment about our future.

Comment #21I so so hope this transfer news about this Matheus franca kid is true.
He is a special special player and at 18 years old is already showing a lot of talent and has umpteen time to improve.
I’ve watched a few games in the Brazilian league and this kid has seriously impressed me.
I know my stuff with players as well.
He reminds me of a young Gascoigne, fearless, strong for his age, he’s able to challenge players fearlessly, he has a lot of flair and speed, he can also score goals, he would be an absolutely brilliant signing, and at 15 million its an absolute steal, he’s going to be worth 50m+ in a season or two. and a proper wonderkid.
Sign him up!

I don’t need to do that!
Why not pick a report from EY or PWC?
You pick most reports you like and they can be torn to pieces, by a real audit!
Do you know what sort of fines these big 5 firms have had for basically lying in reports?
Eye-watering amounts and they just laugh them off and carry on as normal!
They just get rid of the “partner” in charge of the audit.
Ever heard of Enron?
