Nottingham Forest Reach Agreement To Loan Magpie Striker – Report

Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement to loan Chris Wood for the rest of the season according to The Athletic. The deal includes an obligation to make the move permanent if certain clauses are met. The report maintains the move becomes permanent if Forest avoid relegation.

Wood is due to travel to Nottingham today with the transfer expected to be completed in the next 24 hours. The 31-year-old could make his debut at Bournemouth on Saturday if everything progresses smoothly.

Forest boss Chris Cooper was keen to bring the experienced New Zealand international in with starting striker Taiwo Awoniyi out for the next two months with a groin injury. Summer signing Emmanuel Dennis is expected to leave this month with Sam Surridge making just 1 league start this season.

Wood joined from Burnley last January when his £25m release clause was triggered. It was a move spurred by desperation with Callum Wilson being ruled out for months with an Achilles injury.

Newcastle won’t recoup what they paid for Wood. However, his contributions helped the Magpies overcome seemingly insurmountable odds in avoiding relegation and finishing in 11th place. Wood has made 39 appearances with 5 goals since his arrival just over one year ago.

Munster – blah. Well, it was first reported on Sunday and that’s usually a day for crap! Doesn’t surprise me that there’s been contact though but l’ll be surprised if they complete this without an incoming striker sorted out. Having zero backup if Isak and Wilson are unavailable just wouldn’t make sense.

So then….the fist domino has been tipped…who now comes in as a result…who is taking Woodys squad place…who else is coming in?

No qualms with Wood, great workman and wish him the best on loan

We need to fill that spot now, DCL would be decent backup but think we’re looking at potential, wonder if we’ll go back in for Pedro

I don’t believe DCL will join us as backup. His market rate was about £60m last summer and he’s a quality striker when fit.

Hopefully we have a Woods replacement ready to fill his place. No way we should be looking to get by with just Wilson and Isak knowing their injury history, but in Howe we trust, so I’m sure it’s all under control.

The real excitement now is “who is arriving”. In our league position there will be no outgoings without incomings. Exciting.

Joao Pedro seems keen to move here? I would take him for the record, as long as he understands he needs to work to earn the right to start?

So Chelsea now surely done their dough for the window after today’s news, Liverpool claiming to be skint and went early anyway, Arsenal have played their hand, Man u up for sale so won’t be going big.

Leaves us and spuds really to battle it out for what’s around and with Conte not exactly looking ? then now is the time to go and push for that depth.

Can feel it in my water.

I will be very surprised if we sign anybody. Well ahead of schedule and a couple of good buys would guarantee top 4. That would necessitate a lot of spending in the summer to upgrade the squad to fight on two fronts.FFP will not allow it.
Owners are looking at CL in two years when we will be able to open the wallet. CL this year would give them a real problem

Has Wood’s sale price been agreed. Burnley paid £15M and at his age I’d say £10M would be good, we paid £10M over the odds and will lose £15M. Money well spent considering what was at stake.

The rumour is his representative is in London talking to a number of clubs & we are allegedly one!

The ball does seemed to have started rolling.
Wood…yes…thank you, sorry it didn’t work out better, but we just weren’t meant to be together.
Karius…glad to see him get another 1/2 season here as I think he still has something left and could end up working his way up to #2 before our GK shuffle comes to a halt.
With regards to incoming…like many have said…the new modus operandus is under the radar, stealth, dark arts. Nothing will be given away as we will in no way give any advantage to anyone by what is said or not said….and we will be all the better because of it.
