Newcastle made their move for Brazilian starlet Matheus Franca earlier this week with Fabrizio Romano reporting a proposal of £14m was tabled. 90min is reporting that negotiations are continuing with Flamengo holding out for a bit more cash.
Bayer Leverkusen had a bid of £10m rejected earlier in the window with Flamengo wanting £18m for the 18-year-old. Newcastle seemed to have split the difference with an introductory offer.
Flamengo are open to talks but are currently unwilling to drop their demands. If this report is accurate, then Newcastle could be just £4m away from adding a future world-class star to the ranks.
The Brazilian club is protected with Franca signing a new contract last year to 2027. He also has a mammoth release clause which has been reported to be anywhere from £75m to £87m. Thankfully, Flamengo are not holding clubs to that sizeable fee.
Newcastle are also in continual dialogue with Ivan Fresneda’s representatives, who have flown into the UK twice in the past few weeks. Newcastle are one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in the young Spaniard including Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, and Manchester United.
As it stands, nothing is imminent and Real Valladolid chief David Espinar stated last week that no offer has arrived. Though he admitted there is a lot of interest in the 18-year-old right-back stating:
“No firm offer has arrived for Fresneda, but there is a lot of interest.
“The club has set a squad cost limit in the summer. We are going to try to reinforce the squad and we are aware that there are players who will leave.”
The interest doesn’t just come from England but across the continent with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Juventus in the hunt. Newcastle’s chief scout recently watched Fresneda alongside his agent as the youngster put in an impressive performance against Real Madrid.
Fabrizio Romano reported yesterday that further talks are planned in London next week between multiple clubs and the player’s representatives. Fresneda would be an amazing addition along with Franca if Newcastle can fend off the daunting competition.

That is exactly how I feel re Gordon.
In Eddie and the clubs nee policy we trust.
If Gordon was brought in he has all the ingredients to be something special under Eddie Howe. If Gordon came into his own wall those that are unsure (which is their right of opinion) will sharp forget that Gordon used to be a right little obnoxious annoying lad with Claire Baldwin Faz. He’d be wors and we’d back him.

Comment #83I watched Maxi closely last week (at the game). He did some great stuff which he hadn’t previously, e.g. ran across other side of the pitch to put in a sliding tackle near the dug out; passed the ball much quicker. What he did poorly however, he went back to instinct a couple of times and very late (when we were 1-0 up) dribbled inside and lost the ball in a very dangerous position. Eddie won’t like that. I hope I am wrong and Maxi continues to learn but I fear he can’t to the level/consistency Eddie demands.

Comment #84We all trust Howe right, so if he does pick Murphy over St Max it will be for a good reason, maybe Murphy`s work rate and tracking back could have a lot to do with it.
There are no articles to suggest Murphy gets in ahead of St Max is there?
Can`t see what all the fuss is about.

Comment #85I’m glad the Chelsea goal was disallowed.
Could do with a resounding 0-0 here.

Not rocket science.

Comment #95Personally I wouldn’t risk Bruno today with the Southampton games coming up.
Main reason is he draws a lot of fouls and CP have committed the 2nd most fouls in PL this season to date. They are very physical.
We can beat Palace without Bruno.

Anderson is their big miss. Cannot see Palace scoring. Satellite lasers already targeting Zaha. Can we score? I reckon yes. 0-1 to the Toon.
Don’t say things like that “Cannot see Palace scoring” It’s temping fate that they will! ???
As long as Newcastle United score more goals in their net than they do in ours I’ll be a very happy bunny!

That’s the whole point, people can’t because those with no intentions of going are buying the tickets.

Comment #102I would think that Bruno would only play or start if he is fit to do so, don’t believe that Eddie would take an unnecessary risk with him.
That injury may have been a lot less serious than it first looked.

Thanks for taking time to reply. I appreciate you advising people to only buy from the official site but that is the whole point. Members and ST holders who genuinely want extra tickets can’t get them because people are buying them with no intentions of going and just to sell them on.
If I can look in to the ticket returns policy of these sites would the club be prepared to buy a number of tickets, find out the ST and members number and return the tickets. A warning to the offenders would nip this in the bud as a message would be sent out. I really would like the club to be proactive regarding this matter,

Comment #112The majority of tickets published on third party sites aren’t actually real tickets – they are fake and designed to look like real tickets.
Like I said in my previous email we take ticket touting very seriously and try and prevent it as and when we can.
