Another Magpie Could Be Headed Out On Loan This Week

Karl Darlow could soon join the ranks of Magpies out on loan with Hull Live reporting Hull City are closing in on a move for the 32-year-old shot-stopper. The report claims Hull boss, and former tiger, Liam Rosenior is keen on adding Darlow before their match against QPR next weekend.

The Tigers are short at goalkeeper with Chelsea loanee Nathan Baxter rehabbing an elbow injury. The 24-year-old had started 12 straight matches earlier in the season in a battle with Matt Ingram for the number one gloves. Baxter was injured in December and has returned to Stamford Bridge for his recovery.

Newcastle reached an agreement with Loris Karius last week to extend his contract until the end of the campaign. That decision coupled with Martin Dubravka’s recall from his loan spell at Old Trafford means Darlow is free to leave this month.

During his Friday press conference, Howe admitted one of his keepers was likely to leave before the end of the window saying:

“Loris has been excellent. Some really good training sessions among the keepers we have. We have a unique situation with the Carabao Cup because Martin is cup-tied. Probably some late movement there.”

Darlow is reportedly keen on getting more playing time. In each of the last two seasons, he got stints as the number one during Dubravka’s foot injuries. During the first half of the 2020-21 campaign, Darlow played out of his skin in keeping Newcastle away from the relegation places.

Newcastle currently have four senior players out on loan with Chris Wood making his debut for Nottingham Forest yesterday. Ciaran Clark (Sheffield), Isaac Hayden (Norwich), and Jeff Hendrick (Reading) are on loan in the Championship.

Has anyone else noticed the only goal we’ve scored in the last four league games was scored without Bruno on the pitch.

    Just saying

    And we changed the shape.

Maybe time to change the shape?

Looking at the BBC transfer Gossip page yet again it’s the slimy six and their Euro League allies who seem to be hoovering up talent whenever they can.
Guess we need to secure similar new signings so that our stock rises as we invest and build for the seasons ahead.

Manchester City are finalising terms to secure Argentina’s 20-year-old Velez Sarsfield midfielder Maximo Perrone amid interest from Newcastle and Wolves.(Mail)

Interesting that the press and pundits say that Liverpool and Chelsea are in transition. Surely, from where they’ve been in recent seasons and with their squads, they should have just been tweaking things gradually.
We are the ones that are really in transition.

Another sign of our progress was how much control we had in yesterday’s game. The transitioning was fantastic, but again we were not ruthless enough in the penalty area. It may be worth starting with Isak on Tuesday. Wilson was a little lacklustre.

I am delighted with our progress so far and am looking forward to the semi-final legs with great anticipation.

Hope my queue number is better than my one for the Lpool game tomorrow morning, I’ve got two guaranteed but want four up in L7, well Platinum or East Stand if I can get them but failing that I’ll happily settle for L7.

It’s going to dent his pride a little but I think Isak has to start over Wilson or both together.

Santos, Perrone, now Fresneda, the bright youngsters we seemed to scout about, now headed to Chelsea, Man City and potentially heading to Arsenal.

Not sure if we were really in the negotiation process or we simply lost out to other clubs.

Hope the scouting effort will pay off in the coming 10 days to strengthen our thin squad, as well as getting into the cup final!!

I just don’t get it when pundits and fans say a team needs to be more ruthless.

    What does that mean??

Does it mean they aren’t ruthless enough to score and make the other team and their fans brassed off? Does it mean they are too nice to score? Or does it just mean that on the day, or in general, they just weren’t or aren’t good enough to take the chances?

Obviously it’s the latter. Ruthless or otherwise has nowt to do with missing chances.

This season is the time to secure top 4. Next season Chelsea and Liverpool will be competing without CL football. Mudrych looks a hell of a player and Bellingham will be going to Dippers.
It will be harder to get top 4 next season than this season. We should push the boat out now. Slimy 6 are hoovering up the talent when we are “interested.” We should be taking the initiative and not be left in the slipstream

We are dominating teams because they are inviting us onto them and trying to hit us on the break. The weaker teams think that’s the best way to beat us and they are right. We lack the players to open up deep defences.
I feel more confident playing the top teams who push us back. We have a great defence and our fast forwards look a much greater threat with space behind.
We might drop too many points against the weaker teams and get more off the top ones.
We badly need a couple of ball players to open up tight defences and get the points out control deserves. Teams are doing a Rafa on us

OK game if a little frustrating vs Palace.

Hope we find our scoring soon vs Southampton. As that’s the simpler way to a trophy and/or some euro competition (3 games vs 18 league).

Isak needs to get starts and get game time with real world team integration. He’s rapid.

Although injury and loss of form may begin to bite – a risk as the season progresses.

We will sign players – but they need to be a good team for (please – no to Gordon)

11 transfer days to go, cup semis. Its definately a positive time to be part of NUFC – simply on the opportunity we may yet achieve

It seems there is alot of throwing the baby ot with the bath water. The team system maximises the players that play in it and has successfully got us to where we are. Adding more technical players may be detrimental to the system and for example, having a more attacking LB would no doubt lead to more goals conceded. We currently have by far the lowest number of goals against, which is a reflection of the deliberate team sytem Howe has imposed at being ‘difficult to beat’.

Our goals scored have generally come from Almiron and at present he has not scored in four PL games which is not unusual. Replacing him would not necessarily make it more likely that he will score the next time he starts. The success of our team system is somewhat at fault for making it more difficult for us to score. The high press has led to opposition sitting deep and results in changes in possesion and attempted shots arriving in cluttered situations, with limited time to take the opportunity.

The team system will have to develop, as whilst we have the lowest GC our goals for are the second lowest in the top six. So making clear cut chances needs to be improved to decrease the propensity to snatch at the chances created.

the way i look at yesterdays match v palace is its a point and another clean sheet, records broken, do people want to go back 15 months or are they happy with our results so far under eddie howe I know i am more then happy with that

we need a striker and 2 midfielders a no 10 is a must been saying that for over 12 months, the height of our team they need to be scoring more goals from corners ect ect and there not something wrong there but I am more then sure eddie howe and his coaching staff will sort that out, rome was not built in a day things happen slowly

chelsea net spend in 9 months is very disturbing really just how are they going to handle all these players and is there any rules on how many a club can have ??? just over half a billion quid ffp is a complete and utter joke

If it is possible, securing a CL place this season will potentially divert some of the players that may be attracted to Liverpool / Chelsea / Spurs to us. Plus, bring us more to the attention of those young south americans that are currently choosing to go elsewhere.

    Exactly right.
Currently we do not have enough goalscorers throughout the team.
Lots of pressure and loads of corners but our big players never look like scoring.
Miggy has done his bit but who looks like scoring 10 or 15 goals? Maybe Isak. I cannot remember when Willock even got a shot off.

think a no 10 and a striker is a must before jan window shuts, an injury to any of our strikers and a injury to our midfield will cause a problem or two, this time of the year injuries can happen at any time

Nashers, there are a couple of articles out there showing that Chelsea are fully within their rights under ffp to spend big provided they put players on (dangerously) long contracts, because they are a money making machine.

I agree with JMiley, we need to go for it and it’s also annoying to see these south American talents go to the usual teams.

Obviously it will take us time to get to that level, but I was crediting Dan with getting Kuol, but that was in train before he joined us?

50mill on Maddison may limit our spending in the summer but I think we need to go for it now, because Chelsea aren’t hanging around and Man U and Liverpool will surely splurge too .

On darlow possibly heading out on loan, he’d go with our thanks for his loyal service, and at this stage in his career deserves regular first team action.
