Newcastle’s recent lack of prowess in front of goal is a point of intrigue heading into Tuesday’s first-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Southampton. The Magpies have created plenty of chances but just haven’t had their finishing boots on in recent weeks.
That could lead Eddie Howe to alter his team tomorrow. Conventional wisdom is Howe will go with his preferred eleven. However, tweaking the lineup could spark the desired result of more goals.
I suspect Howe will make a bold change by dropping Callum Wilson and handing a start to Alexander Isak. It would be harsh on Wilson but giving him a break may benefit the 30-year-old in the long run.
This is the team I am predicting Howe will select with just the one change at the top of the pitch. It would be Isak’s first league start since the 1-1 draw against Bournemouth in September.

Comment #81It would be a double edged sword if we signed Kane, would we want him breaking Shearers record as a toon player?

Comment #84Jail; we could sign him and stick him on the bench to make sure he doesn’t break Shearer’s record.

Comment #102Mrs Moanster if you are reading the blog you should be aware that your husband Dik is on again trying to cause bother.
Apparently you are not averse to slipping Dik a “Mickey Finn” to shut him down for making an arse of himself on here.
Please give him a double dose so we at least do not have to hear him prattling on with more hog wash on here.
You know it makes sense. Thank you.

Comment #103Just so you all know I wont have time in the morning to make my usual match day breakfast…so whatever you all do on a matchday, and whatever you all wear, and whatever sock you put on first, please make sure you do it all twice over tomorrow because I cant cope with the pressure of being responsible for a not so great result.

I was getting a bit nervous about the match tomorrow but then I remembered that the ever reliable Sparky55 will be having his usual matchday breakfast so all will be good in the NUFC world. Happy now.

Canât remember for sure but I think I got my 1st driving license around about 1963.
I recall the date I passed my test as it was 2 weeks before sisterâs birthday.
I worked as an apprentice motor mechanic and the foreman wouldnât let me drive in the garage until I passed my test so I also recall on 14/05/62 coming back from my driving test & being able to say âI Passedâ when he asked and his reply was âright you can start driving in the garage nowâ

Comment #112Just checked all the news aggregators for the Toon and Everton – nothing about us signing Gordon.
Few articles about the dire finances at Everton with potential “cooking the books” allegations due to their worsening finances/and suggestions of shenanigans.

Comment #113EGB – remember years ago – early seventies- sometimes had to drive an old style Bedford Van in the Toon – the ones with the massive front wings – like ambulances of that era.
It did not have synchronised gears and you had to double de-clutch to change gear. Amazing vehicle still remember it to this day. You could hear it droning along the streets.
Still remember it’s radio call sign Hotel 3 5.

Aye, same with the truck I learnt in.
Even better is driving a Centurion tank you had to double de clutch and missing the gears stalled the tank. Gearstick was between your legs and steering was by a lever either side of the driver.
Lot of fun though!

The old loophole trick, so nothing can be done about Boehly spending ÂŁ500million so far.
More dodgy than dodgy
Uefa are set to close a loophole in the financial fair play rules which has been used by Chelsea to sign players on long-term contracts, including the arrival of 22-year-old Ukraine forward Mykhailo Mudryk on an eight-and-a-half-year deal
