Newcastle have had a second bid for Flamengo wonderkid Matheus Franca rejected according to a Brazilian report cited by Sport Witness. Newcastle made their move for the 18-year-old last week with an offer of £14m.
That bid was rejected with negotiations continuing over the weekend. However, it now appears Newcastle’s second offer has been rejected with Flamengo’s demands proving too much for a compromise.
It was noted last week that Flamengo wanted £18m for their versatile youngster, which put Newcastle just £4m short of landing a budding superstar. Newcastle’s second offer was reportedly only slightly higher than their first one and soundly rejected.
Flamengo are also demanding a sell-on clause of 50% of any future sale be included in the deal. It appears Newcastle have balked at both the fee and the added clause with a third bid unexpected.
The report also has the following comment from Flamengo director Marcos Braz, who would not confirm Newcastle’s bid:
“We did not put Matheus França up for sale. He is not for sale. Flamengo are not interested in negotiating Matheus França at this moment.”
Newcastle’s pursuits of two promising 18-year-olds may have come up short. It was reported earlier today that Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda will head to either Arsenal or Dortmund with Newcastle out of the running.

Comment #6I must be one of a very few who wouldn`t mind Gordon in the ranks, this lad can perform and has energy to burn, he would fit into our style of play immediately with his speed and energy absolutely perfect for our high press.
Do fans really think if Gordon`s attitude was that bad Howe would entertain him?, Every single one of our current signings has a spot on attitude and is a full on team player, and i think with the right players around him Gordon could be perfect for us.
I don`t give a monkeys what the Everton fans think, they always have something to moan about and it appears Gordon is their go to to take out their frustration of supporting a team who are total pants.
Give this lad a chance if he does sign, targeting him before he has even kicked a ball for us won`t help in the slightest.

It’s just a rumour atm that we are interested in Gordon so could just be a rehash from the summer rumours!
If Eddie & team indeed do see something in him then that would be good enough for me but at this point I’d definitely say we could do better!

Comment #9I’ve no issues with this, when the other team make impossible demands you walk. If we give in to one club it will simply open the floodgates with every transfer. You have to be prepared to walk away from a bad deal.

Comment #10On the subject of ticket allocation to nufc members, like many have said it is a pure lottery as to where you are in the queue. It has bugger all to do with his menu home and away matches you’ve been to recently.
As an example for a few months now I’ve logged on on various methods, ie laptop desktop pc and phone, and logged in in all, you could be number 1 or 13000 in the queue, I’ve been number 13000 ish on my laptop number 8000 on my pc and number 1000 on my phone, whichever one gets through first is the only one I proceed on. I’d guess many many more people do it that way also. Then you have those who phone the box office, would nufc have a way of sorting fans based on their recent ticket purchase merely by telephone number? I think not.

Comment #11Wow so we now have it that EH wants to/will sign Gordon from Everton. Hahahahaha.
No he bloody doesn’t. He would cause bother and in any event Everton will not want to sell him.
So nothing to see here ——- move along please. Please do not speculate to the point of lunacy.
Also DCL no thanks another idiot.
I’ll have to remind some of you boys after the window closes that yeez were talkin a load of shite.

Comment #15TDS, I replied on the prior post to your question about the reason for my frustration. Quick summary – Wilson and Joelinton up front doesn’t look to be working. Isak and ASM are being relegated to bit player status. Eddie’s reasoning was weak.

Comment #17When Wood left EH stated that a replacement who excites fans is what they were working on…
Unless there is a hidden gem in the offing that hasn’t been reported, then Gordon looks like the kiddie… A typical Howe type of player who gets up and down with bags of energy and speed..
I hope we will judge him from a clean slate and give the kud a chance if he does come .

Comment #21On ASM,Eddie just doesn’t trust him. With good reason anarl.
If you watch the CP game back,as soon as ASM came on PV had Nathaniel Clyne warming up.Obviously with the intent of giving BDB a roasting.
Clyne hadn’t been on very long and CP had a break, the camera panned oot and Maxi was at least 30yds offside..Lazy….

Comment #23DKillers – we are in 3rd place still so things aren’t going that badly. I’m not sure what is wrong with ASM as I’d love to see his skill harnessed for our team and create some more attacking threat. I do find it very strange that he’s gone from our key man and biggest attacking threat to a bit part who comes off the bench in a similar way to Murphy. I don’t know if the issue if fitness, health, personal issues, tactics, or discipline but there must be something we’re not aware of.
Regarding Wilson, I think he’s at the stage of his career where he doesn’t haven’t to train that often and knows his body well. Plenty of older players have trained rarely in an effort to be fit for matches, so I suspect that is the case with Wilson.
Isak is a different situation though. He was out for a long time and needs time to strengthen his body and recover from an injury plus more time to get used to the rigour of PL football and the way our team plays. I’d absolutely love to see him starting every game for the rest of the season as I want to see a £60m striker banging in the goals but I’d also rather he doesn’t get injured because he’s been rushed back.
I’d like to see us sign more attacking options, especially on the wing.

Comment #27Tds we have done well but we have scored 1 goal in 4 games. We need to alter things as our style of play is becoming predictable. We need goals from midfield and more from the right wing. I’m hoping Eddie rotates wingers as Maxi was decent on the right and Miggy is left footed. Can’t get my head around why he doesn’t try this to ask different questions.

Comment #31Ashingtoon #21. It was the opposite way around. Willock was already flying past Ward at will and his prayers were answered when he came off. When ASM come on they needed Clyne’s pace to defend – they had no thoughts about attack at that time.

Comment #33I don’t gamble at all. Everton – with the sacking of Frankie boy will be putting a block on everything which will include not putting Gordon up for sale.

Comment #36Read some of the nufc fan pages on FB.
Well over half dont want Gordon (can’t say for certain as I’m not reading them all)
Its all on his attitude. He’s comes across as a very unpleasant character. Dives, cheats, constantly argues.
People call it the dark arts of the game. I don’t and never want that from nufc.
I want a team that tries, any wins being largely deserved and ultimately one I can have pride in. Gordon isnt that type of player.
Don’t want him. Id leave him at Everton. They surely will go down.
