This is the team Eddie Howe has named for tonight’s cup semi-final at Southampton. It is an unchanged side from the scoreless draw at Crystal Palace over the weekend.

Howe has opted to not make any changes once again. He’ll have Allan Saint-Maximin and Alexander Isak in reserve for the second half. Karl Darlow gets the nod as the backup despite his potential exit later this month.

Here is who Nathan Jones will send out for the Saints with local lad Adam Armstrong on the bench.

Despite this only being the first leg, it’ll be a nervous night for Newcastle fans. This is the first cup semi-final in close to two decades. The priority tonight is to set up a comfortable second leg at St. James’ Park in one week.

I know he ain’t popular, but I’ve been saying all along Gordon will be great for the toon. He is the perfect Eddie Howes type player and turn the lad into a potential geordie legend. He is only 21 and plays with so much passion. That passion does not grow on trees. It’s up to Eddie to manage it accordingly and channel it I the right direction.
Personally I’d love to see the young man sign for us. He is perfect for us in fact. Cast aside his supposedly bad temperament. It’s only because he wears his heart in his sleeve and it pours out for the cause. We love them players. He has had a bad time at Everton and he needs nurturing and looking after and he will be a polished diamond in time. Bring it on I say 😉

I suppose what you get with Gordon is raw ability it also helps bring down the average age of the squad as it needs to happen
He’s still only 21 he has that pace to really be amazing if we can get his attitude sorted
I think we are still at the stage where we might need to take a risk on a few players because we still don’t have the rep of the top 6
Big gamble but it could pay off

Shouldn’t really judge a player until they’ve played atleast 5 games for us. Joelinton the exception but he had bruce for like 3 years. With eddie we can give everyone 5 games

Some player just fit a club some dont so lets get the players in and see. Btw no to zaniolo he has been shi* everytime i watched him for italy and roma. Rumours we bid 35 mill. Not worth it

How many games in a row now unchanged? Great to get a team on the same page and have good options off the bench in Isak maxi and murph. ,…maybe Eddie putting a msg out to pif aswell saying I need options …..anyways can’t knock his selection …..gonna go a tight 1 or 2 nil to us with Bruno popping up again against the saints …..HWTFL haven’t had butterflies for a toon match for donkeys can’t wait.

Playing the same 11 all the time is not great for squad moral or freshness.

Haven’t cancelled my TV licence yet so just paid for a month of Sky Sports via NOW to watch this match. Figured it would work out cheaper than good to the pub for both legs…wonder if there’s any other good sport in the next month worth watching?

Gordon is one of those little twats you hate on the oppos team but love on yours …..think Bellamy …..wether he is as good as he clearly thinks he is time will tell but gotta trust ashie, Eddie and co. All our signings have done a job so far including woody and targett.

Gordon is a brilliant signing.
Exactly what we want. Young lad, wants to improve, clearly best days in front of him.
Worth 30million more less than 6 month ago, what’s not to like.

I have an update on what's happening with my treatment for prostate cancer.

Last week, my oncologist called me late in the day and said he thought it was best to terminate my treatment with radium 223 dichloride because it was having such a negative effect on my health - specifically my digestive system.

I had completed 3 of the planned 6 infusions.

They had looked at the bone scans and three CAT scans I had early last week, and they showed no signs of the cancer spread being slowed or stopped: in fact, it was continuing to spread and my PSA account continued to rise.

The only treatment left now is to go back and have another bout of chemotherapy with docetaxel being the medication used.

I understand this will be a 7-month job with 10 sessions 3 weeks apart - almost double my first chemo treatment in Apil 2017, when I has 6 treatmnts.

The problem I have is that I'm in a very poor physical state right now, due to my digestive system being basically torn apart by the radium 223.

The radium 223 has leaked into my digestive system and caused me to have severe diarrhea, nausea, and heartburn, and it was (is) very serious.

They said it was too dangerous to proceed with the radium 223 treatment, with little benefit being shown.

I am also suffering from severe exhaustion, basically, because I have zero testosterone, and all the treatments I've had for the cancer, have further lessened the energy available to me.

It reminds me of the saying that if cancer doesn’t kill you - the treatment will (laugh).

It will probably take up to 8 weeks to get back to a physical state where I can start chemotherapy, and that's where I am now, but the cancer continues to spread in the bones.

I've also been put in touch with the dietitian from UNC Healthcare, who will help me get back my health - she is very helpful.

So that's where it stands it's been quite a journey over 12 years and I think I've had almost every treatment available.

It has really taken a toll on my body and on my energy, but that's where it stands and obviously, I'll do the best I can in the upcoming months with chemo and hope I can get through it.

It is as it is - and another challenge in life.
