Newcastle Have Been Simply Amazing This Season – They May Also Have England’s Top Goalkeeper

Here is a great video today from Jim White and Ally McCoist on the talkSPORT YouTube channel.

They talk about Newcastle’s phenomenal season so far and also discuss Nick Pope’s (and the defense’s) 10 clean sheets in a row – a remarkable feat indeed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZXzbiZmyrsWho would have thought we would be 3rd in the league and now favorites to reach the League (Carabao) Cup final at Wembley in late January?

Not many, although I’m sure one of our readers said something like that at the beginning of the season.

Is Gordon this window’s Maddison or Paqueta? What about Ashby or Ekitike?

The lad hasn’t even signed for us yet and he might not at all.

I’m not sure what was a hard watch about that last night, bloody good game for a neutral.

Didnt think hard watch at all, just hard watching the lads not bale to finish, mind robbed by VAR again. But cant complain, got a win and in my eyes more than half way to Wembley as cant see a 2-0 loss up here next week

    TDSarf,
Not sure how you can compare Maddison and Paqueta, one was an official bid and the other was invented by ITK’s feeding on the fans eagerness to sign him. We are officially in talks for Gordon so nothing like the Paqueta saga.

Raj – I’m referring to the discussions like we’ve already signed Gordon. Some people were convinced that Maddison would arrive this month and would have been done already. We really have no idea how advanced things are with any transfers.

It does appear from what we’ve seen of Isak thus far, he does indeed possess the tools to play anywhere across the front three.

Was reading some article saying the players could be experiencing burnout due to the graft that;s gone in up to now. Thought they were given some time off during the WC. Nice jolly to KSA as well. They playing once a week at the minute and I almost forgot, they’re athletes!
Eddie will have them ready for the Spam. If we don’t batter Soton next week then we’ll certainly earn Moyes his P45 😆

Everton want 60 million for Gordon. No way should they pay that. Leave the Toffees to stew ? n their own mess. Gordon would be an upgrade but he is not worth more than 40 million. I would rather we miss out and the Toffees get relegated with a disinterested player.
Now Maddison for 60 million. Different kettle of fish

I don’t buy that we’re experiencing any kind of burn out. Think we just had a particularly small window to fit a lot of games into recently. Late December up until now has been pretty busy so bound to get a little leggy after a run of games like that.

As toon fans bad says, we had a break over the World Cup where most of our first team weren’t involved in the competition at all. Even those that were, were used sparingly really like Bruno and Trippier. So can’t see how we’d be feeling any degree of burn out.

Once this hectic schedule is over and we’re back to a game a week I think it’ll be clear that the squad is still absolutely fine.

A player like Maddison would get us 10 to 15 goals a season if fit. That’s brilliant for an attacking midfielder and if we had signed him in August we would be 10 points higher.
Your striker should get a15 to 30 goals a season and the attacking midfielders should get 6 to 10
Midfielders who get 1 or 2 goals a season are not cutting the mustard. You can have at most one water carrier in midfield – ideally defensive midfield- but two water carriers is placing an intolerable burden on the rest of the attack

15 to 20 goals for the striker. We do not have a Haaland or Kane. What happened to Salah? Too much dosh blunt he desire?

    Sparky,

Aye I reckon Ashby is still a possibility. If Fresneda really isn’t interested then we’re going to have to have a plan B in place if the plan is to bring in a back up, young right back this window.

Jimiley – Sky have reported £40m is what would convince Everton to sell, the £60m was in the summer when they were full of themselves and smelled Chelsea’s open chequebook. They are desperate and skint now. Plus Chelsea have allegedly left the table as Gordon wants the toon move.

We are not suffering burn out but a problem adapting to massed defences, Thank God we are not conceding first.
But we will suffer burn out if Eddie keeps choosing the same 11. It’s not saying a lot for the squad either is it?

    Jimiley,

Longstaff has a goal and 2 assists – extrapolate that to the end of the season that’s 6 goal contributions.

Willock has 2 and 2, therefore 8 by seasons end.

By your logic they absolutely cut the mustard, yet you don’t think they do.

Dazzler, agree with that. I think that if the reports are true we will stick to our guns and let the player and his agent agitate for a move. I don’t think he’ll be the last either.

Well done to the boys in black n white last night, it was a tad frustrating watching us waste so many chances, AGAIN , but we got there in the end.
Saints will have to come out next week so i would play Miggy, Isak and St Max along the front line to really take advantage of the gaps that are bound to appear as they go searching for a goal, i think Wilson should be benched until he can sort out his rumoured illness, he simply is not fit enough, you can see it in his play.
My MOTM goes to Miggy, those Duracel batteries never seem to run out.

    afternoon all.

Gordon hasn’t turned up to training for the last 2 sessions so something is happening. you cant believe anything about the fees being spouted about bt the press.

Re burn out i dont think so. They have had a rest while the WC was on in effect and now have a week before the next game.

Some will remember some maybe not, last nights game reminded me of some games played back in the day when it was the Milk Cup, good old fashioned game.

The near misses, the battles and full on tackles, the omg moment we take the lead.

Eddie done wonders with Big Joe, I did love him playing in the middle, I’m hopeful Maxi finally has figured out what Eddie needed him to do, looked quality when he came on.
Isak, I’m going with what I’ve always called him, Silky.
Now this Gordon saga, if Eddie wants him I’m backing the Gaffa, he was quality for them last season so I’m sure he hasn’t lost everything and Eddie will do his, by the power of EddieSkull and get Gordon playing better than he ever has.

It does not matter what I think or anybody thinks. It’s what Eddie thinks. It’s a discussion forum. Nobody is being a traitor by saying they prefer one player over another or they would prefer an upgrade.
Everybody has players they prefer. I have stopped going after 50 odd years and I cannot get a ticket. If I was going to games I would fully support the players on the pitch. All of them. In 50 years I have never booed a player or the team and this modern tendency to boo is disgraceful. You pay up so you can say what you want at games is just bollix.
What I write here has no bearing on the teams performance and to slate a player in print means you are not a true supporter is just a joke.
Anyway back to the water carriers.! Eddie wants Gordon for 40 million. He will not be sitting on bench getting spelks. He is looking at an upgrade for somebody. It is not treason to speculate who Gordon will replace if we sign him
