Claims Continue To Swirl Over Milan Interest In Magpie

There have been rumors swirling in Italy this week that AC Milan are after Allan Saint-Maximin. The latest claim to emerge is that Saint-Maximin’s agents have offered him to the Serie A giants.

Sport Witness has collected a few of these claims in a report this morning. Included in their article is Giunluca Di Marzio’s reporting that Newcastle would require around £27m for a deal to be made.

None of this has been backed by local journalists though Sky Sport’s Kaveh Solhekol mentioned it on air yesterday; he possibly got his information from his colleague Di Marzio. Luke Edwards downplayed the reports on Wednesday stating the following on Twitter.

Saint-Maximin has started only once since August, when he suffered a hamstring injury at Wolves. Eddie Howe has stated a lack of full fitness as the primary reason for his exclusion from the starting eleven.

At this stage, it appears Howe trusts Joelinton on the left flank with Saint-Maximin coming on as an impact substitute. However, Saint-Maximin has made clear strides in his team play over his recent appearances.

He was scintillating on Tuesday at St Mary’s and could be in line for a return to a starting role. Hopefully, there is nothing in the rumors as Howe could be turning Allan into a more well-rounded player for Newcastle United.

    No chance.

We’re looking to strengthen and need more attacking/creative options. Even if Gordon joined, would make no sense to let ASM leave as then we’d just have the same issue again. He’s also clearly improved as of late as shown by his sub appearences and increase in tracking/defending and passing ability.

ASM also seems more than happy here so doubt he’d push for a move. Talked about how he’s enjoyed playing/training with Isak recently, has been seen multiple times recently speaking with Howe and smiling, is celebrating goals and wins with the crowd and team and just doesn’t look at all unhappy.

Slightly annoyed he isn’t starting games maybe, but enough to want to leave? Nah.

Joelinton pleaded guilty to drink driving charge.

‘His breath reading was 43mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath when the legal limit is 35mcg.’

At least he wasn’t bladdered then!

‘The court hears that Joelinton fully cooperated with the officers and admitted that he had drank two glasses of wine earlier in the evening.

Mr Stirland said that, because of his admission of alcohol consumption, he was breathalysed at the roadside. He failed the test and was subsequently arrested.’

Man Utd are a quality side, in 4th place by rights, have seriously good quality players throughout their squad, have Rashford on top top form, have a good manager, have experience winning things, and are an an upward trend as Ten Hag seems to be working out how to get more out of the squad.

They will be a very tough opponent in the final and I’m hoping they will be OUR opponent. If we beat them in the final and win the cup, we’ll have beaten a very good team to do so.

While leaving a hole in our defensive game early on… Better coming on later, as was shown recently. Getting among tired, stretched defenses.

£27m for Saint Maximin and £60m for a player we’re looking at, who apparently is on a season-long tool down strike; sounds like fairy tale to me.

TDS, you’re a facts guy. Apart from historically, can you support your claim that ManU are used to winning things?

Ten Hag yesterday bemoaned the fact that the team hadn’t won anything for either 5 or 7 years. So, given the high turnover of players they’ve had in that time, who exactly in their team has an “experience of winning things”. Serious question as I don’t know.

Adamn, if it had been 40mcg, given tolerances involved, he would have been let off. Basically 1/2 pint (or equivalent) too much.

Adam – good insight on Joelinton. So it was just a bit stupid rather than grossly irresponsible. Still obviously a wrong thing to do but it’s likely he thought he’d be under the limit. Wonder if he tested over the limit when back at the police station…presumably he still did.

FYI if Joelintons reading had been 40mg he would have been released with a warning. So 3mg’s over is hardly a big thing, yes over but there are degree’s. Wonder what his punishment will be and will it be proportionate to the offence?

Yeah, seems like 2 glasses of wine just barely got him over the limit. Difference of what, maybe having 2 medium glasses as opposed to 1 small and 1 medium?

Follow up. We’ve got Trippier who won La Liga title. That’s probably it for us, but I’m not sure about their squad at all.

I suspect, come Final day (assuming we win on Tuesday) that both sets of players will be equally nervous, apprehensive and to a degree “up for it”. Wembley will be at full capacity and rocking. It will all be down to who relaxes into their game plan the best on the day.

Personally, I think Eddie has the edge over Ten Hag in exuding calm confidence and will have our guys on the ball. 😉

Quick update, from the Mirror….Joelinton has been fined £29,000 and must pay £85 costs and a £2,000 victim surcharge. IMHO this is outrageous and taking advantage of a person who has a very good wage, its just to feed the system, and will not be a deterrent to someone in Joelinton’s position. This is just extorting money from those who can pay.

CBob – players like de Gea and Rashford have won trophies at Man Utd haven’t they? Others have won trophies elsewhere. Ten Hag has also won trophies. But there’s also the confidence/arrogance of Man Utd winning trophies because they’re Man Utd. If they’re 2-1 up with 10 minutes to go, I bet they’ll have the attitude that they’ve got this, whereas there will be a lot of nerves with us. Certainly lots of nerves among the fans and it’s going to be a big task for Eddie and the coaches to keep the players on track despite the nervous energy from the crowd.

Historically is such a big thing to tap into. Historically Man Utd are winners, we haven’t won a thing since 1969…

ArtyH – “ This is just extorting money from those who can pay.” I’m guessing you’re a Tory with a comment like that??

Of course fines should be weighted based on salary! Fine him £200 and that’s nothing! Fine someone on minimum wage £200 and that’s a huge problem.

He’s committed a crime and he’s been punished. That’s the way it works.
