More Newcastle Compliments – This Time From Former Manager Sam Allardyce And Former Player Nobby Solano

Here are former manager Sam Allardyce and former Newcastle midfielder Nobby Solano discussing the emergence o Newcastle United once again as a force to be reckoned with in English (European) football.

Those are sensible comments from two former Newcastle men.

It’s true that if we can win the Carabao Cup (Sam – it’s not the Carling Cup these days) the players and especially Eddie Howe will become part of Newcastle’s rich history.

We shouldn’t get too far ahead of ourselves, but if Eddie Howe can take us into Europe and be successful over the next several years, you could almost guarantee he will have a statue built in his memory at St. James’ Park.

And he will deserve it.

We just got years ahead of ourselves there, so don’t mention this to Eddie Howe – he never looks beyond the next match and always had his feet firmly on the ground – that’s what makes him so great.

Things are riding high, very high at the moment for Newcastle fans – we have a football club to be very proud of.

Why can’t these players just hand in transfer requests, surely they’ve got enough money and will earn even more to forgo their transfer fee bonus that they lose when handing in a request. Surely it’s a better way than trying to force a move.

This place reads like a pack of football fans just having a chat not a Newcastle United blog…

Wish I didn’t bother catching up.

(To all you who are clearly passionate toon fans this doesn’t concern you)

For all the ones going to cry about this post…

So there’s some news on random websites that Gordon has handed in a transfer request today… albeit it is also in theMail Online who have reported that Gordon has informed Everton that he does not intent to return to the club in a drastic attempt to force through a January transfer. The youngster hasn’t started a match for Everton since football resumed following the World Cup break last month.

Let’s see if Everton budge on transfer fee because I don’t think we will

I hope he has DrGloom, it won’t do him any favours if the other rumours are true and he’s trying to force a move by not training.

It`s little wonder Gordon wants out, the Everton fans are a fookin disgrace, i think this character assassination of him is way OTT.
At only 21, really no more than a kid, being one of their best players and he has to put up with that, disgusting.
He will get peace and sanctuary at the Cathedral On The Hill if he does come, and he will realise how true fans appreciate good players.

Raj – I reckon it’s always far more complicated than we know. As far as we know, Everton are saying they have to sell Gordon and he’s being pressured into handing in a transfer request so Everton benefit financially. You can bet it’s his agent making the decisions here and not him.

Seems crappy not turning up to training but we know it’s toxic there. Seems hypocritical but I don’t care too much what he does at Everton really, just as long as he does it for us (if he signs). Pretty sure other players have forced a move to us before. Didn’t Ben Arfa? I think one did more recently though.

George Caulkin recently claimed on Pod on the Tyne that PIF do not believe new signings are necessary this month, while Howe is of the opinion that they certainly are, which may cause some tension over the remaining days of the window.

EH said: “The way they [PIF] view it is they don’t need to do something this month, but they want to, and they hope to if possible. So that is the view.

“I think Eddie Howe would have a slightly different view; I think he would say that they do need to do something, but at this point, I’d be confident of something happening.”

I’m torn whether or not to make the journey to Wembley or not without a ticket, one mate and his Mrs are going regardless and another two are waiting until they get a ticket. One mate, who I asked if he’d come to the Leicester QF with me and the bairns, (our kids are the same age) said he couldn’t be ar$ed, now he’s somehow expecting me to get him a ticket for the final if we get there 😮

Pretty sure when we signed ASM there was loads of talk about a bad attitude at Nice, poor trainer and attitude problems with the manager etc.

Reality was he joined us, has done repeated amazing charity work and as far as we’re aware has never had any attitude problems, training problems or been a pain in any way.

Made of glass yes haha but not any attitude problems he was rumoured to have.

Not saying the exact same scenario will happen with Gordon, but him not training with Everton and media portraying a bad attitude etc may not be the reality we see if he joins us.

DrGloom – makes sense. I reckon we’ll easily achieve the targets that the owners set for the club this season so there’s no need to spend from their perspective. I’m sure they’ll spend if a target is available for the right price but there’s no pressure on that side of things. The pressure comes from Howe as he’ll see it as an excellent opportunity to get CL football next season.

Always some conflict between senior people in a company though, as you well know! 🙂

It was not that long ago when Moshiri moved into town with his billions and they were appointing top managers like Ancellotti and spending lots of dosh on players, and we looked stuck with Ashley until the end of time, that we were envious of what Everton had. How the tide has turned. And what we are doing will not be lost on their fans. It’s what they should have done. Proper plans and structure in place. If I didn’t detest those scouse mackems so much I could almost feel sorry for them.

I think there’s been others, seems to ring a bell with Ben Arfa. He basically fell out with Pardew and then there was like a Pardew vs Ben Arfa & the fans type thing that went on wasn’t there? Seem to remember Ben Arfa Che Guevara flags at home games!

    DrGloom,
It will be excellent down there but I was only there a few weeks ago, I went down for the 1998 final and it was a bit shite after the event, I’m going to try and get a ticket, hopefully on account of me having bought tickets on three of the four LC games.

It was Cabaye that went on strike was it not, left a very sour taste, I don’t think players that do that end up good anywhere they go, he ended up at CP ffs.

Gaffer at work who supports the Toon urged me to put in a holiday, you know, just in case.
Makes a change from me having to twist his arm for time off eh .

Can you imagine how Moshiri feels, I’d guess he’s spent about £0.7B of his estimated £1.7B fortune and the fans are wanting him out, who on earth is going to buy them.

If you are serious about going to Wembley speak to this lad…he’s getting another bunch of hospitality tickets released to him once the semi’s have been decided and one things for sure…if NUFC and MUFC do get through then the prices are going up in the next release regardless…but hey…it’s our first final in 24 years.

He only gets hospitality tickets which were £649 and £849 respectively I think before the semi’s but will be more expensive now. I’ve asked for 5 hospitality tickets and a bigger box and he’s going to contact me as soon as he gets his allocation.

if I were you I’d email him or call him to ask to put on the list of people he contacts when he gets his allocation

    dan@hospitalitycentre.co.uk

    Hi Mark,

Apologies, I had a couple of days off and just catching back on emails.

The box is in the west stand, the dispatch team confirm full details 3-5 days before an event, with them reaching out 3-4 weeks before to confirm any dietary needs.

Once I’ve got the allocation issued and see what else is available, I will be giving you a call.

    Many thanks,

    Dan

Gordon will not come here. His actions to force a move will have the opposite effect. Everton would rather rot in hell than let him have his way.

TDS..at the minute the 8 person box I have is taken up with family …amazing how many family members came out the woodwork once they heard I had a box 🙂 …which is why I’ve asked for a bigger one.

I have two other family members on the reserve list, so a possible 2 spare if I get the 12 man box, plus the extra 5 hospitality seat tickets I’ve asked for…but unfortunately nowt dead certain but the box I’ve already paid for.

Everyone has been told to pay up as soon as the semi’s have been decided and we get through, so a small chance some who said they would come might not stump up the cash…but either way if there’s any spares going I’ll let the blog know.

and no touting…everything at face value! 🙂 🙂
