Newcastle have announced Ben Dawson as the new U21s head coach as they fill the role from within. Dawson had served on an interim basis alongside Neil Winskill since Elliot Dickman’s departure last month.
Dawson has been with Newcastle since 2014 when he joined as a Professional Development coach. He actually held this same position to great success for 18 months in 2018-19 before an academy shake-up resulted in him becoming the Academy’s Head of Coaching. His most recent role was as First Team Development coach.
Dawson said the following about taking over the U21s as head coach once again:
“I’m delighted to be given the opportunity and responsibility of leading the under-21s once again and hope that my recent experiences with the first team can help align the professional development phase to the first team.
“Covering the role alongside Neil (Winskill) on an interim basis has allowed me to see the significant and positive changes that have happened at the Academy and evidence how rapidly the club is progressing across all departments.
“I’m looking forward to putting into practice what I’ve learned during my time with the first team.”
Winskill will continue to work alongside Dawson as the Professional Development Coach/Methodology Lead, a dual role. He previously held the title of Academy’s Head of Coach Development, a position the club will now look to fill.

Comment #4Well I guess that’s it for the night, transfer talk fatigue has set in and there’s only so much one can say about Gordon’s Barnet, his training methods, or lack of them.

Comment #8Didnt actually go as was on my way to Wembley, but went past Trafalgar Square for both FA Cup finals 98 and 99 and the Semi of 2000, never forget a Chelsea fans bus going past in 2000 and the chants of your supposed to be at home from the 1000’s of Newcastle fans there, was brilliant
