Gordon Should Think Twice About Trying To Force Move If Claim Is Accurate

Anthony Gordon is trying to force a move to Newcastle United according to an exclusive in The Mail. The 21-year-old has been a no-show to training for the past three days and has informed the club he has no plans on returning.

Newcastle are in negotiations with Everton over the tempestuous winger. The clubs remain apart in their valuations with Newcastle flat-out refusing to meet Everton’s price tag of £55m. The Magpies are reportedly offering around £40m with a large part of that fee being add-ons.

If this claim is accurate, Gordon’s actions are disrespectful to the club that pays his wages. It will not endear him to the Newcastle faithful, many of who are already uneasy with the idea of him joining due to his antics on the pitch.

Gordon is currently the primary target as his profile fits Eddie Howe’s system. He is young, fast, a tenacious presser, and also accurate with his shooting. As a promising young English winger, he would be an excellent addition at a reasonable fee.

Hopefully, this report does not reflect the current state of affairs between Gordon and Everton. A public battle against his current employers, his hometown club no less, could lead Newcastle into a change of heart and abandon this pursuit.

With only 5 days left in this window it looks less likely we will have one or two players through the door, though having said that we did make 3 signings in the last few days of January`s window last year, so all is not lost.
Ile be a tad disappointed if we didn`t have a replacement for Wood, having just two strikers to rely on to stay fit until the end of the season is a massive gamble, especially with Wilson in our ranks.
I think we will still have two new faces through the door by the 31st, well hopefully

Would be nice to get some movement soon ok. Gordon is an annoying little sod and not training doesn’t look great. Shades of Fraser, but at least he tried hard enough when he arrived, so hopefully Gordon will do well here.i won’t be sad if we don’t get him though, not the end of the world. A good CDM would be nice.

Gordon got chased by ‘fans’ who placedt a barricade in the road to trap him in his car and shouted ‘You’re not fit to wear the shirt’ at him whilst he was stuck there.

    He’s 21 years old.

Imagine knowing your apparent fan base is willing to do that sort of stuff to you when all you’re doing is trying your best to play football.

Can you honestly blame him for trying to do all he can to escape there? Lads probably concerned for his and his family well-being if nothing else.

When you combine that with board members being told not to attend games for their own safety, i’m sure he’s questioning his own safety there.

I wouldn’t want to bloody go to training or return to play for that club either to be honest.

You beat me to it again. I was going to say the same about Gordon. Normally I don’t like to see players trying to force a move but in this instance, if the reports are true, I fully understand it.

As you guys say “Just sign someone”.
    But please NOT Gordon!!
Why haven’t Franka and Fresneda been signed already? Both quality young guys who have good reputations who will gel into this club for the next few years. And what about the ‘wonderboy’ forward Angelo? What happened to him?
We could probably get all 3 for the price Everton want for Gordon.
We keep hearing about the ‘right’ characters that Howe wants for this club.
I don’t think that a guy who is a whining, diving, cheating, argumentative pain in the neck on the pitch and who withdraws his labour through petulance for a desire to leave his club is of the ‘right’ character. Do you Eddie?

I’m not going to hold that over him at all. He’s probably concerned fans would turn up at training or hound him in his car again when he left.

Put yourself in his shoes, all of that is happening and then you find out a club on the rise and an exciting future wants you. A way to escape. Only to find out your club are asking for too big of a fee and are essentially stopping you from leaving the hell you find yourself in.

I’d be doing everything I could to leave. Who cares how it looks to the outside world. He’ll know what’s best for him and i’m sure Ashworth and Howe etc are aware of the situation and not holding it against him.

Would be nice if we could identify transfers that were less protracted and toxic. I think Gordon could become a great player but I think it’s only a 50/50 of happening at this stage. I think it will come down to Everton needing the funds now, so they have to have players who are lined up to come in, but is that likely to be the case with no manager.

I’d seen the vid clip of the baying mob attacking Gordon’s car (looked like a Hummer, FFS at 21 he needs to get real, buy a Vauxhall, other makes are available)
His on the pitch attitude is combative and competitive but for your own fans to do that (or was it undercover Liverpool fans ?) is reminiscent of Beirut
Imagine if kids had been in the back seats ..!
Have Merseyside police bothered to arrest anyone ?

Not sure if anything happened off the back of it. There was clips of Yerry Mina being cornered By Everton fans outside his car too. Then you’ve got death threats to the board and stuff. Whole place is toxic and you couldn’t blame any players for wanting to get out of there ASAP.

I do believe Gordon will be a sensation if we sign him. He has all the hallmarks as to what we need. I love inverted wingers which he is and cuts in from the left onto his right with devastation at times as his finishing is top drawer. He has so much energy to burn which suits our playing style so well.

The lad tracks back, harries players and gets in their faces. Winds the opposition up and leaves everything on the pitch.

So we will potentially could be playing with 2x inverted wingers in Gordon and Miggy with their speed and tenacity and. Hazing the ball down defending from the front. Man Citeh play the inverted winger system and it works. I really do hope we get Gordon and I’ve said it a while now. I appreciate he has pi$$ed us off with one of them faces you wouldn’t get sick of flicking (can’t be overly aggressive on here with the PC brigade 😉 ) but he will be ours and we’d love this lad in no time as we love his type and how direct he is and how much effort he would provide. It’s all we ask as a fanbase give your all and wear the shirt with pride. That young man would be all that as he is passionate. His sort don’t grow on trees especially at such a young age. Eddie the magician would work some magic on this young man.

I like players playing for us who are a whining, and an argumentative pain in the neck on the pitch. Those type of players, like Emlyn Hughes, Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Ray Parlour, Martin Keown, and even to a degree our own Shearer…

They do it because they have a huge passion and desire to win and that infects their teammates and the fans.

ALL players cheat and dive to one degree or another, and skillful quick players like Gordon and our own ASM do it more often because they get fouled so often.

The difference between an amateur and a professional is one does it for fun and the other for money. We are talking professional football here and within reason, like in love and war, anything is fair if it gets you a win or a cup.

    In my opinion.
