Newcastle have announced that Kieran Trippier has signed a one-year extension to the end of the 2024/25 campaign. The 32-year-old was in the final 18 months of the deal he signed when joining from Atletico Madrid last January.
Here is the official statement from Newcastle United:
Newcastle United are delighted to announce Kieran Trippier has signed a contract extension, keeping the defender at the club until the summer of 2025.
The 32-year-old right-back, who joined the Magpies from Atlético Madrid in January 2021, has been in impressive form for Eddie Howe’s side this season after helping United record an English top-flight record of 15 games unbeaten.
The Bury-born full-back has helped the Magpies record 16 clean sheets across all competitions during the 2022/23 campaign, including 12 in the Premier League, and has also registered six assists so far this term as well as scoring a memorable free-kick during a 3-3 draw against Manchester City at St. James’ Park in August.
The 40-time England international, part of the Three Lions’ 2022 World Cup squad in Qatar, was the first signing since the takeover of the club in October 2021 by an investment group comprising of PIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media.
Trippier stated the following about his extension:
“I’m absolutely delighted that I’ve extended my contract here. I’ve got a lot of thank yous to make to the manager, owners, fans and my teammates.
“When I first arrived here, they made me feel so welcome and I want to help the club achieve great things. It’s a positive moment for us players in the club and there’s nowhere I’d rather be.”
Newcastle United head coach, Eddie Howe, is obviously thrilled to get Kieran tied down for an additional year saying:
“It’s a fitting reward for the season he’s had. He’s been outstanding both on and off the pitch, showing real leadership at a difficult moment when he first arrived, and now he’s excelled in a team that’s doing well.
“I can’t praise him enough for everything he’s given the club.”
An interview with Trippier can be seen below.

If we were playing like your Citeh or Arsenal the way they are playing then you’d need Longstaff in the middle because of his work ethic to hold onto a draw away from home.
Maddison would most definitely take his place for most of the games when we are putting teams to the sword. Lobby will be rotated in MF to secure a win, or hold a draw.
That NUFC team is absolutely crying out for a Maddison and Gordon to put teams to the sword and get the ball in the net. At that point we will see the best of Isak who will be a revaluation when properly up to speed. Amazing front 3, amazing MF, amazing back line (that will need more depth in the summer added)
We are going to get the required squad depth we desperately need. All UNITED and fighting for each other with a great group harmony. You can see what Eddie and Dan are trying to do. Get them young with the right attitudes to fit in with Eddies work ethic and ethos.
Onwards and upwards

Comment #46Right now Gordon is our man we gotta get behind him and stop saying he’s sht. The ONLY thing I want to see him being slagged off for anymore is his looks and how desperately reclusive he is, because looks are important…..

I tried to and failed miserably, football in my family with him and his Dad but unfortunately nowhere near me. I was lucky and trained with them one day a week when I was 15/16, did manage to put 4 free kicks over the wall and past Tommy Wright, but know he just let them in. I was offered a years contract, but just as got myself a job. I knew that I wouldnt even make the bench of the kids reserve team, so turned it down. Thought as great as would be, be out of work after a year where just got a job, did stay there for 5 years. But oh how I look back now and wish could have had that on my CV, professional footballer.

Happy days indeed!
Ps.. now get us Maddison in Mandy that would do very nicely 😛

Exactly let’s not have a go at Gordon’s looks or locks (I’d love faz like that lol) My best ever player which I’ve seen don the black and white jersey was Wor Beardsley. Not a looker but fook me what a player. A little magician he was…
Therefore It bodes well if you get me drift 😉
Gordon is not gonna be a flash in the pan, he will most likely be a club legend in time with a Eddie nurturing him. Fook the looks this is football not TOWIE 🙄

If we have a CM trio of Maddison, Bruno and Big Joe i doubt we would need Longstaff, as Joe could do his job no problem , doing the running and winning the ball is 2nd nature to the big lad.
Its a fantastic position to find ourselves in IF Maddison did rock up, i think both Willock and Longy could be decent alternatives to bring on, but their playing time would be limited if the first choices stat fit.
Can you honestly see Howe playing Longstaff ahead of any of the 3 mentioned, 3 points is the name of the game for Howe, holding out for a point would be the last thing on his mind imo.

Comment #60I just remembered Shär’s sublime pass that lead to a scoring opportunity in the first half on Tuesday? A perfectly weighted ping across field, it barely exceeded head height I think it may have been willock to whom it was aimed. Beautiful.
