Eddie Howe will be forced into at least one change for Sunday’s clash against Wolves at St. James’ Park with the integral Joelinton facing a two-match ban. There could be other changes on the horizon after Howe made three in last weekend’s defeat at Manchester City.
Fabian Schar is back in contention after being sidelined through the concussion protocol. He faces a fight to return with captain Jamaal Lascelles’s solid showing against the defending champions.
I suspect Schar will keep his place though would not be completely surprised to see Jamaal take the armband tomorrow. However, I do see one other potential change at the back with Matt Targett making his return for Dan Burn at left-back.
All that being said, this is the team I suspect Howe will name. It has three changes from the Citizens with Schar returning, Joe Willock in for Joelinton, and Targett getting a chance on the left.
During his press conference on Friday, Howe stated Alexander Isak was not ready for a full 90 minutes. While that doesn’t rule out a start, he may continue as an impact sub until he is fully fit.
That may also be the role for Allan Saint-Maximin despite impressing in a run of starts. Anthony Gordon made his full debut last weekend and now he may get his first start in front of the home faithful.
There are plenty of options with only Emil Krafth and Harrison Ashby out injured that we know of. Howe can chop and change to try and get the performance needed to spur the Magpies back to victory.

Comment #10I’ve been wondering about this inverted wingers conundrum and thinking maybe just a bit of patience is required.
Arsenal play with inverted wingers and Arteta stuck with it last season and is reaping the rewards now.
This is EH’s first full season and I’m sure he will be working in training to improve the system (It’s great that we actually have a system) and a few additions in the summer will carry on the improvement.
Anyway, just musings of a know nowt. š

What Lineker said was so wrong. He shouldnāt have said that and came across as the voice for those poor souls that donāt have one.

Comment #15What a shit show at the beeb, basically employees going on strike over freedom of speech backing GL.
My take on all of this is i am fed up to the back teeth of the politically correctness and wokism, it`s getting way OTT, in fact it`s getting serious.
I`m not bothered about GL , he will get by regardless of the beeb, no doubt he will end up smelling of roses some how and end up reinstated chairing MOTD.
Im glad i am nearly 60, good god, what will it be like in 40 years time not knowing what you can and can`t say in everyday life, the world will be full of dictators, and even calling extra terrestrials ET`s will be frowned upon.

Comment #20Tiny legs Sugar criticised Corbin. Andrew Neil was editor of the Spectator whilst presenting a current affairs programme for the Beeb. Absolutely nothing wrong with old big ears putting that tweet out. Doesnāt matter if we agree with what he said. What he canāt do is say those things whilst presenting MOTD. Something about nothing, but I think both parties are now stuck in a Mexican stand off. The only losers are us. I love MOTD and 5live radio coverage.

Comment #22If Neilās team has Isak starting over Wilson it would be a perfect line up for what Eddie can choose from. Iād really love to see Targett start, he must be up to speed for a good 60/70min run out. We need more balance in the team and Targett would provide that. We seem a wee bit lopsided lately where weāve predominantly attached down our right. If we play Targett Gordon on the left with Willock also making runs down the left flank where he is decent Miggy, Tripps and Bruno linking up on the right. This would give us a really good solid balance to our team and it may be the change we need.

But clearly none of his co presenters or related presenters think u are correct and neither to 99% of prem clubs and nufc, associated strongly with a barbaric human rights regime, make themselves a stand out institution by supporting Braverman and the Tories who helped them own nufc. Comment #27ToF #23 Almiron mostly useless you say ?
He is our top scorer this season. His work rate, intensity and tenacity is second to none. NUFC didnāt give him a new improved contract for nothing. If you thing Almiron is mostly useless then you donāt understand football properly as the lad has been a revelation. The last time I stuck up for Almiron on here he went on an amazing run of scoring worldies. I do hope history repeats itself.

I understand your point but I donāt think Lineker was making a specific reference to the Holocaust. The reference was made to language being used in 1930ās Germany. Yes that was a precursor to the horror that followed but there is a difference.
