Newcastle Against Wolves – Team Prediction, Injuries, And Fan Expectations

Newcastle have a chance to leap Liverpool in the league table with a win against Wolves. The Magpies sit sixth just one point behind the Reds who tumbled 1-0 at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Eddie Howe remains confident Newcastle can end their mini-skid. Victories have been in short supply in 2023 but this match at St. James’ Park represents an excellent chance to get back to winning ways.

This is the team I am predicting Howe will name for the late afternoon clash. It has three changes from the Manchester City defeat with Joe Willock in for the suspended Joelinton, Matt Targett in for Dan Burn, and Fabian Schar back in for Jamaal Lascelles.

The squad currently is in good shape fitness-wise. Only Emil Krafth and Harrison Ashby have been ruled out through injury. Wolves have a few more injury concerns though will still be able to field a formidable eleven.

Newcastle Injuries

Emil Krafth (knee), Harrison Ashby (hamstring), Joelinton (suspended)

Wolves Injuries

Sasa Kalajdzic (knee), (knee), Hugo Bueno (hamstring), Diego Costa (knee), Chiquinho (knee), Hee-Chan Hwang (hamstring – fitness test), Boubacar Traore (groin – fitness test)

The poll for this one shows fans are confident that today will be the day the string of poor results snaps. Over 70% are predicting a win; a result that would put Newcastle back into the Champions League discussion.

    A great tony benn quote
The way a government treats refugees is very instructive because it shows you how they would treat the rest of us if they thought they could get away with it.

Tbh refugees being allowed in and refugees forcing themselves over here in boats is different and can be seen as invasion

I agree with you on both points made in that I too enjoy listening to *some* pundits for their technical analysis and think Lineker and many other MOTD pundits do a great job at giving it the human touch with their craic and banter. Secondly, I agree that Lineker has been sanctioned for offering his personal opinion on politics which happens to be highly critical of the current government. If he expressed an opinion which was supportive of the government, I doubt he’d have been sanctioned at all.

Fortunately the correlation between the huge influx of illegal boats and the start of Bre#it is just pure coincidence and those that voted for it thinking it would end genuine asylum seekers didn’t really get what they wished for. Now we have to suffer all those that voted for it in the first place harping on about illegal boats.

Liniker like so many wannabees loves in a bubble and needs to get out more. He’s able to express his opinions because of those who defended our rights to do so. He forgets that.
He needs to understand that there’s a difference between genuine refugees and criminal activity.
    Classic ivory tower mentality.
He’s perfectly at liberty to resign and let someone else have a job at a fraction of the stupid money the BBC pays him as an independent contractor, a very cozy arrangements for both.

So angry to have missed out on Dujuan Richards. Seems to have been a farce from the get go as Ben Dawson didn’t even know he was coming for trials. So DR has a good 2 week trial, coaches are impressed, says he expects to be offered a contract but we dick around, don’t even speak to his people with any urgency and Chelsea swoop in.

Seems to have happened with Perrone, Santos, Franca, Joao Pedro, Gabriel, Varela, several others and now Richards. I’m expecting great things from Ashworth but am gutted about DR as the kid looks to have a lot of potential. Meanwhile poor old Kuol isn’t exactly pulling up any trees in a poor league.

I see people saying start Isaac ahead of Wilson and I do think Isaac should be starting but Wilson, despite hitting a rally bad patch is still probably our only natural ”finisher.”

Hilarious seeing MOTD get half a million more viewers!! Champagne socialist and massively uninformed hypocrite Lineker probably thought he was untouchable.

Not aimed at you lochinvar but it’s a bit rich coming from those actually claiming to care about ‘genuine asylum seekers’ when they’ve laid bare their racist views in the past, does Tommy Robinson care about genuine asylum seekers over illegal boats.

There are too many opinions on the internet these days and he is just another ill-informed moron that should be ignored about anything other than football. And, he rarely offers anything of interest on that.

We are back to not scoring again. We had a purple patch where miggy was on fire. that was never going to last. All you have to do is block him coming in on your left and you are done.

What the hell is up with Wilson these days? He doesnt really get much of a chance but is he not making the space to get the ball?

Certainly nothing to worry about, this was always going to happen. I was hoping for top 8 before the season started so we are on target.

    On the topic of punditry.

I really do not like listening to any pundits, i believe my knowledge is on par with any of those who get paid fortunes to show us their biases.

I’m sure every fan out there loves hearing how the slightest touch on a Liverpool player, Mr spit will tell you it’s a straight red, the same with Garry how much you gonna pay me Neville, Saudi bad Qatar good.
    Bring back Des Lynam

Now I tune in to listen to woman with nothing to say, but show us her fashion, but she is good because she is black and ticks a box.

Football is terrible at the moment for a variety of reasons.
    I don’t want
1, diversity any were near football, you have to be qualified and the best person for the job.

2, VAR, does anyone think it’s made the game better? Isak offside goal vs LiVARpool, disallowed goal vs palace red card for Bruno, var changed everyone of those decisions and IMO got them all wrong based on similar instances that were allowed in other games.

3 Biases, it doesn’t matter whether it’s BT sports, sky Sports, Bein sports, most of the pundits have deep ties with their clubs and never give an objective opinion.

It’s a simple game, and politics should not be anywhere near sport, we all have different reasons why we will vote the way we do. And it seems if you come out and support the current trend, it’s for brownie points.

Stick to football. Bring back honesty in the game.

The real reason why Lineker has caused all this hassle is because he has compared the Govs policy to 1930’s Germany.

If he’d left that out it would never have resulted in the mess that exists now.

Yet yesterday and today you’ve went and broke your own CoC. Why? Why you broke your little CoC rules?

Reading this site does feel Lineker made the right choice to speak up.
Like I said proven statistics 94% of people coming over in boats etc get classified as refugees. That nearly all of them.
This government has branded them as traffickers, drug mules etc etc and people on this blog believe it.
This is my last comment on this but I am gutted at some of the responses from fellow Newcastle supporters.

Correct me if I am wrong, but punditry was brought in because most people used to listen to games on the radio, not many people had TVs. Not so much of an issue anymore but good punditry adds to the game if they dont say the obvious nonsense. I was listening to city game yesterday and i have to turn it off. The punditry was so boring it was putting me off. Some newbies I think.

I feel sorry for any blind fans this weekend though, wtf are they supposed to do?

The one point I absolutely agree with is on diversity.

Some of the female pundits and commentators are just trotting out cliches to give the impression they are knowledgeable without any real analysis of the match.

    And, while I’m on…

How come all female weather forecasters are stunners?

Is there some gene in stunners that makes them gravitate towards being a weather forecaster and automatically makes them better than women not blessed with the same looks?

Same with Alex Scott, was she picked on looks or knowledge?

    Football Focus
We need a great start and an early goal, with a second before halft time to put this game to bed.
The teams above us have more wins so three points now is essential.
We need to get a winning mentality to be in the top 4.

Not much happening on our wings anymore. I love Burn but his attacking play is shocking man. Doesnt help the left winger..couldnt really tell you who that is right now though.

We should dominate the game, hopefully we get some luck.
