Newcastle have been tracking Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga according to a recent report in The Sun. The young Spaniard has been a revelation in his first full season with Celta’s senior side.
Veiga got a taste of first-team football last season appearing in ten matches. This season he has become an influential presence with 8 goals and 3 assists in 23 La Liga appearances.
Those exploits have landed him on the radar of Newcastle and Manchester United with the Magpies keen on adding quality at the top of the pitch this summer. While the sample size is small, Veiga could become a special talent.
Celta Viga are trying to tie down their home-grown midfielder on a new long-term deal primarily to remove or increase his £35m release clause. His current contract runs until 2026 so there is little chance he’ll be prised away from the Balaidos for anything less.
The 20-year-old is one of a number of up-and-coming talents Newcaslte are monitoring. He would fulfill a need at the top of the pitch and could be one to watch during what is shaping up to be an exciting summer on Tyneside.
In other news, Newcastle have missed out on Jamaican talent Dujuan Richards. The teenager, who spent 2 weeks on trial at Newcastle, has reportedly inked a pre-contract with Chelsea.

I’ve always been a glass is always full type guy lol. We’ve been on a stinking run of late and it’s been quite cruel losing to LFC at home where we couldn’t give them some karma. Then the caraboa cup final, was hard to bare…
However, we are still top 6 and surely our luck will change and soon. I really think we can turn our season back to winning ways and goals galore again. Even the best teams go through a bad patch, but 3 goals in 3.5 months is not acceptable so I have huge expectations and faith we turn it around today against wolves. That will put an extra spring in our steps and onto Forest. Where it won’t be an easy game but we should hopefully have too much for them. Manure after that at a rocking SJP and big joe back. Put them to the sword for the disappointment of the final.
Aye… I can see it now 😉

Comment #2Happy Matchday folks, here’s hoping for three points today and that the lads have their shooting boots on. Yesterday’s results largely went in our favour, and I still fancy us over the course of the season to overhaul Spurs as they’re so inconsistent and overly reliant on Kane for results.
With Jo suspended, I reckon Howe keeps it simple with our midfield trio of Bruno G, Willock and Longstaff, Gordon LW, Miggy RW and I would go Isak from the start but expect he’ll start Wilson. Schär has been in training all week so I suspect he’ll get the nod from the start. If Targett is getting back to full fitness I wouldn’t be mad if he got 30 mins or so as well as I’ve always felt more comfortable with Matty T at LB as good as Burn has been.
We’ve been creating chances, playing good, consistent football, we just need it to ‘click’ in front of goal. Will today be the day? I’m going 2-0 Toon. HWTL!

Kin pido or players, I 100% agree. How many do they need, and bearing in mind where they are in the pl table as compared to us at the moment, it’s about time that some of these young talents saw us as a future prospect rather than fking Ghelski.

Comment #15I think Wilson is being shown a bit of disrespect on here. Posters think their ‘King’ Eddie was responsible for keeping us up but from what I remember…
Eddie struggled with team last season. It was when Clarks red caused Joelinton to go midfield it started to swing our way. Wilson scored vs Burnley a difficult goal to get us our 1st win. Also a crucial equaliser vs Palace.
Bruno got us winners against Soton and Leicester otherwise they were draws. Trippier free kick vs Everton and Villa. Shelvey played a part too.
Burn and Targett shoring up our backline.
Without these players contribution we were going down and Wilson started our rise to safety with crucial goals

Comment #16Must win game today if we are going to stay in top six .. I think we’ll win … surely one today our chances will go in .. hopefullyba couple of early goals to us which will force Wolves to play rather than the low block we have so much trouble against … this season top four/six is wide open with Chelsea and Liverpool… we just need to get over this poor run of form and quickly

Comment #17Someone mentioned Wraith and commenting on the Trust having links with True Faith fanzine. I can say from first hand experience that Wraith has a chip on his shoulder about the Trust as he ran a fans group called “Fans United” which he sought to be an alternative/rival to the Trust.
While there are plenty of things that the Trust could do better, they are the most democratic and transparent vehicle for supporter representation we have. Wraith, by contrast, is a self-interested grifter who sees fellow supporters as a way of self promotion and making money.
Anyone who thinks they can do a better job than the Trust are always welcome to stand for election to the board and implement their ideas as vacancies arise every year. All you need is to be a Trust member (£1 per year) and you’re eligible for election.

Comment #20Aye it’s a shame about the young Jamaican lad Dujuan Mustards signing for Chelski as I had good aspirations for him with us.
So his head got turned by the bright lights of Laarndon Taarn never my it’s Dujauns loss. I’m pretty sure he will look back and think what a rick I made not going to the most powerful club in world football.

It’s not a question of respect, he just aint scoring the goals and he has missed some easy chances.
It’s a no brainer to switch the players around if one isn’t clicking.
It’s not as though there aren’t any other options.

Comment #24I didn’t particularly want to get into the illegal immigrant debate but it is a fact that the highest number are now Albanians and a lot of them are involved in criminal activities, they need to be stopped.
Doubt if there are many people who object to genuine refugees fleeing war zones or persecution.

Comment #27So Lesh had a go on the previous thread to a few fair minded posters calling us all right wing throwing us in the same category as Nigel Farage? Lesh, you must pack your political agenda in on an NUFC FOOTBALL BLOG!! This is not the right platform to spew your leftist propaganda hatred. I keep saying it but just honestly try chatting about football for a change.
OK Lesh this one is just for you, you leftie nut job:
When you put your left arm in
Your left arm out
In, out, in, out
You shake it all about
You do the wokey wokey
And you turn around
That’s what it’s all about
Woah-oh, wokey wokey wokey
Woah-oh, wokey wokey wokey
Woah-oh, wokey wokey wokey
Left Knees bent, left arms stretched oot
Ra, ra, ra
and repeat…

Comment #28To my mind there is something strange surrounding Chelsea signing a pre-contract agreement with Dujuan Whisper Richards.
There was a recent report in the Evening Chronicle covering the completion of a two week trial by him with NUFC.
” Meet the exciting striker ‘expecting’ to be Newcastle’s next signing and holds Alan Shearer ambition.”
I assumed he had just finished his two week trial, prior to which he’d been in Newcastle for a week.
There was no mention of him having undergone a trial with Chelsea so have they “signed him up” without a trial and did NUFC advise him that he had not been successful during his trial period?

Comment #29Murphy nowhere near as good at defending, his finishing is rank and yes he gets round the back and crosses with his right foot now and again…but its a rarity and the quality is questionable. He put in a great ball in the final, had a decent shot, has the odd show of brilliance and burst of speed…but he’s championship at best.
Burn is a waste of time from an attacking perspective…we rarely do well down the left and that needs to change.
Pope
Tripps. Schar, Botman Targett
Longstaff. Bruno. Willock
Miggy. Isak the salmon. Gordon.
We need to run at them at pace and get 8n behind them, not get drawn into playing across and in front of them.
IMO

Comment #32On the companies house share sale it looked “to me” like we had sold a % of a share for £57m rather than a 50p share for £57m!
Do we have anyone on here that can read these documents for clarification on that?
Mind if I’m correct it would value the club at something like £167billion so I’m probably a little off! 😀 😀

that’s the team I’d love to see line up today v Wolves.
Totally agree with your assessment of Murphy also. Almiron brings much more to our intensity and tracks back and defends very well to cover Tripps.
I also agree about BDB not getting down our left flank in an attacking capacity. We must bring Targett in to give us a decent attacking balance from our left and right side. Targett can ping some quality balls in which IMO we’ve lacked since he got injured. Will be interesting what team Eddie starts with today.

Comment #39One of the FPL podcasts call certain games ‘Garden centre Games’ as in when they’re on it’s the best time to visit one. They’ve described our game this afternoon as one, I hope they’re very wrong and we can bounce back and put in the type of display that had us blowing the likes of Villa and Brentford away.

I think he’ll be on our books for a good while yet but I don’t see him starting many at all from now on, he’ll be used in the early stages of Europe but wouldn’t even expect to see him on the bench much in the PL, we need to have players come in that force Miggy to the bench.
